I'm a huge Mandy Baggot fan and wait eagerly for her next book to come out, knowing that there will be believable heroines, hot heroes, gorgeous locations and a page-turning story. Desperately Seeking Summer didn't disappoint. Abby and Theo were a delight, and as usual they were accompanied by a cast of colourful and endearing characters, and set in the beautiful island of Corfu. What more could you want in a book?

Abby Dolan, high hopes for promotion and in a ‘safe’ relationship, is cruising along when it all falls apart. Her sister Melody keeps sending gorgeous images and asks her to visit San Stefanos in Corfu so when it does all go wrong, it’s obvious where she’s going to head for. Only when she gets there, not all is at it seemed from those images …

Theo’s life has just been drifting, on the run from something that’s difficult to come to terms with, until he’s woken one morning by his aunt Spyridoula who has arrived to motivate him. Best friend Leon’s family owns the local taxi service and picks up Abby from the airport. The first intimation that all is not ok is when Leon tells her how the elders of the village feel about Desperately Seeking. And the first evening in San Stefanos, there’s intrigue with where Melody is going. Obviously not where she says she is …

I’ve related to all the characters, no matter their age or circumstances (well maybe not the Russians …). They all bring conflict and resolutions to the story alongside the main plot. Truths are being hidden (even by Spyridoula) which adds intrigue to the story. And how they change and grow! I enjoyed mum Jackie’s return from her lacklustre appearance and beaten down manner to something quite different. I loved Spyridoula’s advice to Theo:

Life is a song. You must sing it.

What a stunning setting! Mandy Baggot’s descriptions had me right there. Sparkling seas, sunshine and the places we visit. I could smell the wood in Stamatis’ workshop and loved the history with Theo. There’s also a dangerous side when the sea’s involved though and I loved those scenes! So much drama and tension.

There’s laughter as well as the drama. Oh how I laughed. Out loud. Deep belly laughs. Two favourite scenes, both take place at Villa Pappas. When Abby first goes to Villa Pappas to value it and again when she goes for dinner 🙂 So funny!

The Greek community, family life, friendships, food and of course romance to make your heart beat faster. I love it when a story engages all of my emotions and Desperately Seeking Summer certainly met that expectation. One not to miss.

This was an amazing book, so entertaining and addictively good right from the very first page. I loved everything about this delightful story, which was so well written and the characters just came alive right before my very own eyes, well that's how it felt whilst reading this book. I really did feel like I was there, in Corfu for real and I really didn't want to leave.

One of my favourite parts in the story (of which there was many) was the Desperately Seeking party, it sounded like so much fun, and the Greek food/cocktails sounded truly yummy and devine.  Not to mention the Theo & Leon dancing scene, that was slizzling and hot to say the least, I would love to have seen that for real.

There was so much to love about this book, from the beatiful setting in Corfu, to the Greek food, the romance and lastly the characters, especially Abby and Melody, they had such a great bond as sisters. There was even some action of the life threatening kind which I wasn't expecting, it certainly added that extra something to the story.

So last words, Mandy has done it again, another amazing delightful and heartfelt story that I just fell in love with and completely got lost in. She has such a way with words that her style of writing is truly magical which draws you in from the very first page.  I always look forward to Mandy's books as I know when I read one, I'm always in for a treat.

I always look forward to reading Mandy Baggot’s books because I know I’m in for a treat. This was no exception, I was riveted from the very first page. For me, location is always an important part of a storyline and I must say the places featured in this book were pretty special!

Abby’s life was falling apart around her so it made sense to take a break on the sunny island of Corfu, especially as her Mum and sister lived there. However, things seemed a little odd when she arrived and it didn’t take her long to find out the reason, apparently she wasn’t the only one with problems.

The atmosphere was warm and the characters were bubbly, the author’s words pulled me in and made me feel like part of the storyline (if only I really was in Corfu). There were many enjoyable scenes but some of my favourites included: a sunbathing surprise, a Donald Trump soaking, a raffle disaster and an eventful boat trip.

This was a sunny, smiley read that found its way to my heart with ease.

I loved the front cover of this book and the story was just as good was brilliant and perfect for curling up and thinking of summer in Corfu. Full of romance and funny but serious as well and made you laugh out loud very sexy and shows how quickly life can change. A fun read and shows how families can be together when you need it.
Abby cannot believe how life can change in 24 hours she is full of writing lists and living her life with her boyfriend but she looses her job and then losses her boyfriend as she catches him with someone else. She decides to go for the summer to get mum and sisters in corfu and decide what to do with life. Once she is there she doesn't realise that their business is struggling as an estate agent and she wants to turn that around and get them making money again. She finds the perfect villa to put on their books but finds a lovely man called Theo there. He has many secrets to and can they help each other through hard and difficult times and can there be romance or not. Does she decide to stay on Corfu after a summer or does she decide she can't leave.
A really perfect summer read.

I adored Desperately Seeking Summer. Once again Mandy Baggot transports you to the sun drenched island of Corfu for sun, romance and cocktails.

Abby Dolan has lost her job and her boyfriend in the same day. Should she stay at home and feel sorry for herself or should she hop on a plane and join her mum and sister at their estate agency in Corfu? Will she be able to mend her broken heart on the sun drenched island?

I read this book in a couple of days. With each turn of the page you can almost imagine you are there soaking up the hot sun, enjoying a cocktail and of course some traditional Greek food.

Fabulous characters and a great storyline. I can highly recommend this book. Thank you to NetGalley, Penguin Random House UK Ebury and the author for the chance to review.

A book that puts a smile on your face

A fantastic book! It's the perfect summery book to read on the beach or around the pool. The book draws you in and you feel like you are in Greece with them all. I loved that even though the story was mainly about Abby, you found out so much about the other characters. I didn't want the book to end as it meant I had to come back to reality lol...

Mandy Baggot never ceases to delight with her escapades set in Greece and this book is no exception. From the moment we are introduced to Abby's mother and sister and their pink flamingo decorated estate agency on Corfu, we know we are in for a treat. Add heartthrob gardener Theo into the mix and the temperature is soon soaring. This is the perfect beach read and if you can't get to Greece this year then this book is the next best thing.

This is one of those books that gave me a reading high, then a real book hangover when I’d finished it. I was craving for more!
Mandy Baggot is the queen of the summer escape.
I absolutely fell in love with this fab book, the characters, and with Corfu itself. It was lovely to escape in my head to Corfu for some sun, and what a fabulous time I had.
I lost myself in the gorgeous Corfu sunshine, and some gorgeous company too….
I liked Abby instantly, with her lists. Her sister Melody was an outrageous flirt, and her widowed mum, Jackie, seemed like she’d lost her sparkle.
Spyridoula was a typical strong Greek lady, a great character who I enjoyed getting to know.
Onto the men-folk. Leon the taxi driver, best friend of Theo, a swoon-worthy Greek god. I liked Stamatis and could imagine and smell his woodworking shack! George from the taverna had some hidden talents too, especially at the estate agency relaunch party with his bouzouki. The author’s description of Theo and Leon’s dance blew me away! *fans self*
You can tell Mandy Baggot is smitten with the place, she writes about it with such love.
The thing with me and Mandy Baggot books is that I never forget them, they seem like a real memory and I find myself reminiscing about past summers and Christmasses! I know, I’m weird!
Thanks to Mandy Baggot, Penguin Random House UK, Ebury Publishing and NetGalley for the early review copy in which I give my honest opinion.

Reading a book of Baggot's is like lowering yourself into a luxurious warm bath - comforting, steamy and leaving you wanting more! It was especially hot this time due to the male lead, gorgeous but troubled Theo. Abby runs away to Corfu to escape losing her boyfriend and job, and helps her sister and mum turn around the Desperately Seeking estate agency business.
Except she wasn't expecting to love the place again quite so much - nor fall hook, line and sinker for boating expert, Theo. But what good can come of it? They both carry a past.
Lose yourself in this funny, feel-good escapist Greek read. You'll need a cold shower afterwards!

Oh, how amazing it was to be reading another brilliant novel by Mandy Baggot. I have been waiting for what feels like ages to release a new summer novel and this one did not let me down. I absolutely loved it and couldn't give this any less than the full 5 stars. The cover just invites you to be a part of the story along with main character Abby and I love it. The pristine white buildings with their bright blue domed roofs, the golden sand and the shimmering blue sea make for an absolutely beautiful cover.

This is the most perfect summer novel I have ever read. Ever! The descriptions of the delicious sounding Greek food had my mouth watering, and I found myself daydreaming about being in Corfu, lounging by the glimmering waves! Oh, how I was so sad when this ended. This is the best novel I would recommend if you're looking for something to read to take on holiday, or even to get you in the mood for summer. It has drama, it has romance, it has humour - it literally has it all. It's the ideal summer escape novel.

So the novel follows main character Abby who goes to Corfu to escape from her non-existent love life and lack of job in order to spend some more time with her family and just relax. However, once Abby arrives she realises she can do everything but relax on this holiday. Her mother and sister's estate agency 'Desperately Seeking' has gone downhill, they've tried to revive it by using a little bit too much of eye-catching-and-eye-watering pink but it seems that the village isn't very happy about this new colour...

Abby isn't the only one escaping to Corfu this summer, Theo is doing the same. He's taking a break from his father's business and to say that Theo was a closed book at the start would be an understatement. Theo tells Abby that he is a gardener and bartender, rather than tell her the truth about his background. However, as with every other Mandy Baggot novel that I've read, we get to read from Theo's point of view as well, so it's great to learn more about him and from doing this we get to see why Theo acts the way he does and it really does make you relate more to him.

It was just a perfect novel for a perfect summers day. I'm so glad I got the opportunity to read this, as once again it's been added to my favourites. I adore Mandy's style of writing and once again I got transported to the location of the novel, as though I was there right beside the other characters. I can't recommend Mandy's novels enough. Thank you to the publishers for a chance to read this novel via Netgalley, which I have reviewed honestly.

I'm utterly bereft that I have come to the end of such a fabulous book it had everything you could want from your perfect summery read and more.

There was Theo who I fell in love with, Abby and her mad family's vision for a pink estate agency in Corfu, there is greek food, beautiful scenery, high drama, sizzling chemistry, plenty of smiles and laughs, and so much more. This is escapism at its best.

I could wax lyrical all day about this book, but I fear I would bore you, so instead I will try and keep this short, and just tell you, especially if you are already a fan of Mandy Baggot to just go and buy this and read it for yourself. It won't disappoint.

If you have never read a book by this author before, well frankly you are missing out, but she has a fabulous back catalogue to catch up on too.

This is a story of Abby who manages to lose her job, boyfriend and her cat all in the same day decided to spend some time with her family in Corfu, only to arrive and discover their estate agency isn't doing too well.

So while Abby is trying to help save the family business, she comes into contact with Theo, who is using Corfu as a summer escape for himself too. Of course there is more to Theo than there first appears, and thanks to the way the book is written we often get sections focusing on him, and thus can see beneath his amazing good looks quite early on.

There is romance in the air in Corfu this summer and not just for Abby, and the villagers of San Sebastian are all colourful characters and I enjoyed meeting a lot of those too. There are business rivalries, interesting ways of trying to keep the Dolan family afloat and older relationships revitalised.

I even think I learnt a bit of Greek in this book, as occasional words are used, most of the time you could guess the meaning from the context, and if you can't then there was a handy glossary at the back too.

I can't stress enough how much I enjoyed spending time in Corfu with Abby, Theo and their friends and family. This is a fantastic book to while away a hot summers day, or a cold winters one when you are wishing you are somewhere warmer!

Thank you to Netgalley and Ebury for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This book makes you feel good and then some!

Set in Corfu, Mandy is the expert to recreating all things Greek on the page.

Now I want to go straight to the airport and head to Corfu. Like with other Mandy Baggot books, you know you’re in good hands as she places you right there in the heart of the setting, sun and secrets.

Corfu might seem like the perfect escape but then Abby has to deal with her family’s rather mad idea of having a pink estate agency in Corfu. It’s not the estate agency that’s the problem though but rather the drama of what happens with the house she sells and the gardener….

It’s a holiday romance with hidden depths. Oh but as well as the action and humour, there’s the Mandy Baggot touch all over it – sun, sand, sea and gorgeous scenery. Greek food, sounds and aromas in the air. What’s not to love?

A book to make you smile.

This book is Mandy Baggot at her best! I was swept away by the journeys of both Abby and Theo--Mandy had me frantically flipping pages to see what happened next. And the supporting characters were so well drawn that I found myself wanting to read on and on about just them! I was giggling one moment and holding my breath the next, completely swept away by this story. Five deliciously sunny stars!

My reading habits have taken a back seat of late, and I find myself reaching more for a lighter read than a heavy crime book. With the sun currently shining every day here in England I figured a summer read was just what I needed and the new Mandy Baggot popped into my mind. We start off by meeting Abby Dolan who is perfectly content. She has a job and a boyfirend she loves and as she walks to work one morning she has no idea that's all about to change. Abby has THE Worst day ever when she goes into work and not only loses her job, but follows it up with a trip to the bakery and discovers her boyfriend is cheating on her. With her world literally crashing down she mulls it over and decides to take a trip to Corfu to see her mum and sister who live there. A break away seems to be just what she needs to nurse her wounds.

When she arrives in Cornwall she soon realises that her Mum and sister's business was not quite what he had imagined. Desperately Seeking is the agency that sells property in Corfu but between trying to help them gain more business and also keep her mind off her cheating ex-boyfriend she runs into Theo, a man who is using Corfu as his own escape. The story takes us on a trip which means we see lots of locals, plus Abby's hillarious family which kept me well and truly engaged from the first to the very last page. I am a huge Baggot fan and this book, although maybe not one of my favourites, was still a brilliant read. This is certainly a book you will want to pack in your suitcase this year!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher, Ebury, for the review copy.

Another excellent book from Mandy Baggot, making me pine for the Greek Islands. Lovely interactions between mother and daughters, and I love the way Abby finds herself trapped by her decision not to to keep her mum fully up-to-date with her situation.

The Greek men are hot as usual, the villagers all warm and friendly, and the humour makes you laugh out loud. I'd like to stay - or live - in Villa Pappas. Theo's aunt is a formidable Greek woman, a traditional matriach - she is fabulous.

I love it!

A sunny book which made me smile.

This is my idea of the perfect romantic-comedy - a hot alpha-male with some issues to get over, a strong minded heroine, unusual plot, great side characters and all set in the heat of a beautifully described Corfu. I almost felt as if I was there with them, and shed some tears when they faced their hurdle. Looking forward to checking out more of Baggot’s work in future, hopefully some spin offs with some of the side characters. 5 stars.

This feel good romantic chicklit will have you dreaming of your own holiday in Greece and leave you feeling happy inside. It is one of those rare finds that instantly lifts your heart and makes you smile from ear to ear while simultaneously giving you a great big hug.

The heroine of this book is a lady called Abbey. Who is having an extremely bad day. She had been sacked from her job where she was practically running single handedly a thriving hotel, she finds her boyfriend cheating with another girl in a local cafe which she only popped into, to get some cake to make her feel better and her finds her cat has found itself a new home with the neighbours next door who are feeding him outside their window.

When her sister sends her another barrage of beautiful Greek scenery, and men with their tops off. Abbey can no longer find a reason to not join her mum and sister in their new lives on the Greek island.

However if Abbey was thinking that she was going to have a relaxing holiday in the sun. She has another think coming. As the real estate business her mum and sister set up called desperately seeking is not doing as well as all her sisters pictures and messages had Abbey believe, and so it is up to Abbey to get their business on the map and to save everyone’s dreams of a new start in Greece.

It is on this mission that Abbey finds the perfect villa to do just that and along with it a dishy gardener who is more than willing to help Abbey forget her heartaches. But as all good chicklit read Theo has some secrets and heartache all of his own.

Are Theo and Abbey the antidote that they both need to live happily ever after? And will Abbey be able to save her families new business?

Well that’s up to you to find out. ☺️ This gorgeous read will have you desperately seeking a Greek holiday yourself and I promise you once you pick this book up you won’t want to put it down.

Where do i even begin with this book? the location maybe, it was set in San Staefanos in the North East cove of Corfu, Greece. If you have never been to Greece this will help you decide where to book your next holiday. This is my first read by this author and i just love all her books are set in Corfu, so what can go wrong> Nothing.
The only thing i notice in comparison to other books are the chapters are rather small. You don't feel like your reading 400page book because i read it in 24 hours....
The book itself was thoroughly entertaining and addictive, hence why i couldn't put it down. The location was sublime, the characters came alive from the first few pages and i felt disappointed it ended....

Abby is the main character in this and she lives in the Uk but things are going so well for her so she takes a trip to Corfu where her sister and mother live and run a business ' desperately seeking' east agents, which is not doing so we'll and it doesn't help that the colour is so striking you go blind once you see the building. Abby wants to help and she does it well...

Theo, he is a greek man who is also escaping something himself but Abby believes he's the local gardener of the area.... some of the places they find themselves into is hysterical especially in the house she's going to put on the market..... there is sexual chemistry between the two but Abby isn't interested and neither is Theo.

Sprygiou is a name i cannot spell and it is Theo's Aunt, she is one unique and funny lady.

There is love in the air of Corfu this summer and you will learn a few greek words, perfect for you next trip.... i knew a few! and have learnt more...You are certainly missing out if you don't read this book, now i know what I've been missing i will not be missing anymore of her books from now.

Thank you to net galley and Ebury for allowing me to review this voluntarily. Loved it.

A deliciously summery read that I devoured in the sunshine this weekend 😍

Abby is NOT having a good day. First, she loses the job that she has given so much to, and then, when attempting to cheer herself up with comfort food - she spots her boyfriend in a compromising position with his secretary. So when a text message from her sister comes through, showing her living it up in Corfu…Abby wonders whether a trip out into the sunshine to see her Mum and sister is long overdue.

Abby’s sister, Melody, and Mum moved to Corfu to start an estate agent company - Desperately Seeking. However, their dream life isn’t exactly as they planned, as Abby learns that Desperately Seeking is actually desperately seeking some TLC! Working alongside Melody and her Mum becomes Abby’s sole focus and the three of them give Desperately Seeking the overhaul it needs to make it the best estate agency this side of the island!

Abby’s only distraction is handsome Theo, where sparks start to fly between the two of them. But with Theo hiding a huge part of his past, can he let Abby in?

This book had everything - the laughs (mainly coming from Melody 😅), the heartwarming moments, the family togetherness, the romance, and not just between Abby and Theo but other characters too, and all in the most gorgeous setting - I want to go and live there too please 😍 another great book by Mandy Baggot! 🤩

A lovely read

I bought this book purely for its location as I'm off to Greece in September. I got a very good feel for the islands. I'm going to Crete. The thing about this book I was really surprised about was that it referenced to where I live. Abbey originally lives in Romsey and live near Portsmouth, so it was lovely that she came from a town near to me and travelled to an area that I will be travelling to. The story was lovely. As with most romances the ending was obvious, but the journey to the conclusion was very enjoyable. The book is lighthearted in places and serious in others. This is a book that I'm very glad that I found.
