Sam Prichard #14

Detective Karen Parks has finally gotten the chance to close a pair of ten-year-old murder cases. These cases had troubled her for years, because the killer had laughed in her face and walked off scot-free. Now, though, when his daughter came forward to admit that, at ten years old, she had seen him kill her mother and sister, Karen finally had her chance. All she had to do was find him, and at last she got a tip telling her where he was staying.

When she got to his apartment, though, she found him already dead, the victim of three gunshots. Unfortunately, those shots came from her own gun, which had been stolen from her only minutes before. With witnesses screaming that she killed him and the fact that her own gun was found to be the murder weapon, Karen did the only thing she could do. She ran, straight to Sam Prichard.

Now Karen is sitting in jail on a charge of first-degree murder, and Sam has to find proof that she is innocent, but things go from bad to worse. The victim wasn't the killer she was hunting after all, but an undercover FBI agent who bore a striking resemblance to him. The DA says Karen is still guilty of murder, despite the mistaken identity of the victim, but Sam is out to prove differently. All he has to do is find the real killer and the intended victim, who might be one and the same.

And he has to do it before the killer can murder his own daughter and Sam's family.

Good story, but....

This book was just not on a par with the most of the series. I think most will enjoy it as I did but a seasoned detective not immediately determining where a suspect, he believes innocent, was at the time of the crime and not checking for gunshot residue just was not a positive start to this story.

What can I say that´s not already been said. There are very few authors that can guarantee you a bloody good read.
David Archer is one of them. The Sam Pritchard books are guaranteed to get the pulse going, tension racing and tired nights because you can´t put the book down. You feel at one with Sam and Indie and Sam´s extended family. His old friend Harry is drawn into the equation too. Of course , Beaurigard is ever present with his cryptic clues.
An adrenaline ride from the first page with the usual twists and turns and once again a surprising ending and link to the next book.

Can´t wait. Thank you David , it´s a privaledge to read.

Close to Home is the latest installment of The Sam Pritchard/ Indie series and it was awesome. Indie is due to have Her and Sam s first child within weeks, Sam receives a phone call from his ex partner on the Denver Police Department who has been charged with First Degree Murder. Ten years ago a woman was murdered and cut up into pieces and Detective Park found the killer but couldn't prove it. The storyline takes many twists and turns and keeps you on your toes. The author really understands The World of the FBI, CIA and the Political Interests that can complicate people trying to protect our country. The Ending was awesome and I look forward to the next book in the series.

And one more time, i want to thank authorvDavid Archer for a great book. Non-stop from opening pages to the last pages and even a little after midnight and I still don't want to put it down. That's my kind of reading. I already have the next in line so I won't lose much time. Thank you for allowing me to come along for the ride, even in your Corvette, that unfortunately got caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place. I still enjoyed this ride. Please, keep them coming.

new baby

Good story but again so many different characters in the police departments and the gangs that it
is too hard to remember all of them. Too many policemen killed.
Since Sam has always been so in love with Kenzie I thought he should have been much more involved with Indie and the pregnancy. Sam was too busy killing people to attend to Indies needs and the birth of his son, Bo
Looking forward to the next book. I’m hoping that there is more about his family in this one.

It doesn’t get old!

Sometimes a book series winds down or gets repetitive. That is not the case here. I’m dragging my butt at work today because I could not put the book down last night! I thinks this is one-off the best reads in the series. I especially like that the author did not re-explain a lot of the back story and just kept the momentum. Buy this book but read the whole series for maximum enjoyment.

Overall the book was pretty good. If I could break it into two parts and give two ratings, they would be: 1) the action and main story, I would give it a 5. That part of the book kept a good pace and interest. 2) the filler portions with their everyday conversations around the house, etc, was exactly that... a lot of filler. This I would rate a 2, because there was way too much of it and the writer should do more to keep the action part of the book going.

I have read all of the Sam Prichard Mysteries up to this point. This is one of my favorites. There are lots of twists and turns that keep your attention. Some of the characters end up being very different personalities than I thought in the being. Once again Sam is in the middle of all kinds of danger and intrigue. Exciting to have little Bo added to Sam's family. Love the family and their interactions.

Another twisted plot.
Sam Prichard manages to get involved in another mess as he takes on the task of proving the innocence of detective Karen Parks. He again gets involved with unknown terrorists and comes close again to meeting his end. Hard to put down and keeps me anxiously awaiting the next Sam Prichard adventure.

Each 1 keeps getting better

It takes a good detective with a wife with incredible hacking skills and a "ghost" hints to make this series great! Even though you know the main character will make it to the next one in the series, the buildup on how he gets out of life- threatening predicaments keep the reader turning the pages.

Best of the series!!!

I’ve read them all but this is by far the best. Great and very believable story that has many twists and turns. A real page turning mystery. All the characters are there but some new and very interesting ones that I’m sure will be there again in the 15Th. Can’t wait!

Death, Twists, and Family

What starts a pair of unrelated murders turns out to be first a cold case for 10 years, illegal immigration of terrorists, and the new baby.

Usual Sam adventure where until the very last minute you wonder like Sam how he is going to solve the mystery but then all the different pieces magically come together.

The story knits together well

This story has a little of everything. Mystery, drama, family, good guys and bad guys. The thing that stands out is how well all the pieces come together at the end and the way everyone stands together. It doesn't always happen and I like it when it does.

David Archer's Sam Prichard Mystery Series just gets better.
In "Close To Home" Sam has to save Denver PD Det. Karen Parks
from a murder charge and the only way to do that is to find
the killer. How many bodies is the killer going to leave before
Sam stops him?

A MUST READ

Book review

This was an excellent read! I enjoyed the twists and unexpected developments. Kept my interest throughout the book. Always knew that there are a few bad cops in any larger city force, but it does not overshadow the great work done by all the good cops and detectives.

A typical great David Archer read!

I wish I could just give a rating and leave it at that. But, that I gotta write so many words. Read my past reviews of Archer 's books to see what I really think!

This one is a hit. We get to see Sam as a regular guy when it comes to waiting for his son to be born. Love the ghost brings an unusual twist to solving the mystery . Looks like Sam Prichard will be around for a long time.

Good intricate storyline

As always multiple storylines, Karen gets arrested for murder, Sam meets a street gang that are almost good guys & there are dirty cops interfering with the process.

Love the Sam and Indie stories. Karen Parks is framed for murder and it's up to Sam to clear her. Between outlaws and dirty cops the Greek Mafia is strong. Sam gets to the bottom of it and Karen is exonerated. Indie has a baby boy.
