Born in Visalia, California, I'm a small town girl at heart. I love central California's golden foothills, oak trees, and the miles of farmland. In my mind, there's nothing sweeter in the world than the heady fragrance of orange blossoms on a sultry summer night.

As a little girl I spent hours on my bed, staring out the window, dreaming of far off places, fearless knights, and happy-ever-after endings. In my imagination I was never the geeky bookworm with the thick coke-bottle glasses, but a princess, a magical fairy, a Joan-of-Arc crusader.

My parents fed my imagination by taking our family to Europe for a year when I was thirteen. The year away changed me (I wasn't a geek for once!) and overseas I discovered a huge and wonderful world with different cultures and customs. I loved everything about Europe, but felt especially passionate about Italy and those gorgeous Italian men (no wonder my first very Presents hero was Italian).

I confess, after that incredible year in Europe, the travel bug bit, and bit hard. I spent much of my high school and college years abroad, studying in South Africa, Japan and Ireland. South Africa remains a country of my heart, the people, the land and politics complex and heart-wrenching.

After my years of traveling and studying I had to settle down and earn a living. With my Bachelors degree from UCLA in American Studies, a program that combines American literature and American history, I've worked in sales and marketing, as well as a director of a non-profit foundation. Later I earned my Masters in Writing from the University of San Francisco and taught jr. high and high school English.

I now live in Seattle and Hawaii with my three sons. I never mind a rainy day, either, because that's when I sit at my desk and write stories about far-away places, fascinating people, and most importantly of all, love. I like a story with a happy ending. We all do.

Miracle on Chance Avenue by Jane Porter is the second book in the romantic Love on Chance Avenue series. Each book in the series feature a different couple and can be read as a standalone romance if choosing to do so. The books are set in the charming town of Marietta, MT though and there may be characters or events that have been featured in other books set in this small town.

This was a rather interesting idea behind a couple coming together in a story. Rory and Sadie share a past in their small town and somewhat know each other but had never really started a relationship. Sadie is wanting to become a mother and had Rory all handpicked out to become her baby’s daddy but never approached him with the matter but has now decided to go the artificial route but of course timing is everything and now the couple have a chance together.

Another thing I found to be a little different from other Marietta books that I’ve read in the past was the fact that this one touched upon the poorer side of this small town. This gave the story a bit more of a realistic feel to me seeing how we all know that there are always areas anywhere that are a bit more run down and in need of TLC so I actually enjoyed the idea of bringing that to light.

In the end I enjoyed this holiday romance with a nice couple at the forefront of another lovely read in the charming Marietta.

I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

4.5 Two Finally Find Each Other Stars
* * * * 1/2 Holy Moly, Marietta Goodness, IT IS FREE!
2018 RITA and Golden Heart Finalist for Contemporary Romance: Short-Spoiler Free

This is a story that had many layers of want, pain and finally a coming together for a wonderful payoff. Jane Porter took so much and made it work on so many levels.

Rory Douglas
is at the end of his career with the American Extreme Bull Riding Tour. He has lived his life testing the odds every time he climbed on a bull. He hadn't asked for it, but before he started riding the circuit, he had beaten odds and felt he shouldn't...So every time he climbed on, the prayer he sent up wasn't for himself but for his sister McKenna and her family. These two were dealt the worst hand when it came to tragedies with each working through it in their own way...

Rory's way was staying away from Marietta as much as he could. He only came to town this time to look at a potential property on Chance Street an area of Marietta that was "On the Other Side of the Tracks"...Rory thinks with the right renovations, he could create better housing for the people of the town who were not of the affluent...the working class who have been trying to make due. By providing favorable apartments with clean secure outdoor areas for children to play in would be something the town needs. Rory was one of the smart riders banking his wins and investing in real estate for some time now. He has done renovations on pieces all over the country and even in Marietta.

Rory had contacted the real estate company that manages one of his rentals and gave another name to rent it... so he could just come and leave without anyone knowing he was there. He knows his sister and family would want to see him, especially with it being Christmas and if he can get his head on straight... he will reach out and see them. Then he will leave the next day... in and out.

Sadie Mann is freezing ... she is waiting for the man who was supposed to be there 20 minutes ago. Sadie works for the rental company and is adjusting... as Sadie used to work as a flight attendant for private planes. It gave her the ability to fly all over and do all the things she wanted...And one was trailing after a man who she loved from afar since she was 13 years old...

Was it realistic, no... Because as much as she wanted him... dreamed of him, followed him all over the circuit...and wished for just a piece of him...She was too shy and held back to approach him in the flesh. The one time she did approach him, his reaction was not anything she could handle...

So that dream was squashed and coupled with her mother's passing, Sadie decided she is going to stop all those dreams and live a settled life. She will buckle down, work a steady local job here in Marietta... bank the money she needs to provide for the life she has planned... and let go of those old heartbreaking dreams...

As Rory walks up to the rental, he has to take a second look... the woman waiting for him is the woman he would see in the Rodeo Stands... the one he deemed his angel. The one he would wish would come down and meet him...The one he would always look for and the one he always knew when she was there ... with their eyes connecting before his ride. And then the one time he did get close to her, he was an ass...

What was she doing there...Was this a sign...

What was Rory Douglas doing coming towards me...Oh My God... this cannot be happening...
Those are the thoughts rambling around in Sadie's head when her dream man walks right up to her...although she also remembers very clearly his reaction the one and only time they exchanged words...

Well, this is the setup but there is so much more than this woman who had a need and desire for this man...It would have at first been easy to chock this up to a formula romance of lost loves etc. But Jane Porter had much more in mind. She took a man who needed to be relieved of the guilt and allow himself the chance to love. She took a woman who had loved this man from afar... who had been touched by pain just as harsh as Rory's... and showed her she deserved to have her dreams come true...

This turned out to be one of my favorite Marietta, Montana stories...and that is saying a lot as I happen to be a huge fan of these books.

I do love a Christmas story even if it is March and this one is beautiful, snow, mountains and Marietta, fabulous characters who could want more? Yes I have had it on my TBR pile for a long time and I have to read book one yet but I loved it.

Sadie Mann has loved extreme bull rider Rory Douglas since she was thirteen and as she has grown up she spent a lot of time following him around the circuit when she could and always watching from the stands she had a wish but sadly never built up the courage to actually meet him, the last time was beside his hospital bed when he had been badly injured and she decided that it was time to change her wishes and think about her future.

Rory Douglas left Marietta many years ago after a family tragedy and has stayed away but he has come home not necessarily for Christmas but for another reason and he finally meets the woman who has been in his dreams for many years although he never met her personally he knew she was watching form the stands and he decides that it is time to get to know her but will this change his life?

This is a beautifully written and very emotional story as Rory and Sadie get to know each other and open up about their lives and I loved it, I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series and I do highly recommend it, Jane Porter writes stories filled with heart and love and this one is sure to leave you smiling.

Hoooo boy, did this book have problems. I got it on as a Free Nook Friday selection, and it won't be one I'll be keeping. Spoilers are ahead, but let's face it, that's the real reason you came to see the reviews:

So Sadie is obsessed with Rory, a bullrider from her hometown. She's in her THIRTIES, yet she's following him along the rodeo circuit like a dog in heat. Which, basically she is, because for some reason she wants his baby? I mean, that's the thing restraining orders are built upon. Anywho, Rory got gored a year ago, so Sadie went to see him in the hospital. He's a bit of an ass, because, you know, HE JUST GOT GORED, so she decides to be done with her obsession. Fast forward to when the book is set, and they meet up again, and now Rory is the creepy semi-stalker. Stuff happens, they make out, and then Rory decides that she's THE ONE and she has four dates to realize that too, as he's proposing on the fifth date. Um, okaaaaay. More stuff happens. There's this subplot about his parents and siblings being murdered (but don't worry, it never gets resolved), and it turns out that the only reason why Rory's sister is alive is because she had a sleepover at Sadie's house the night the murders happened. So Rory figures that out and flips out on Sadie because she didn't tell him - WHICH MAKES NO SENSE OF WHY HE'S UPSET. Maybe it triggered something on him, I don't know, but his reaction was WAY above what it needed to be. So he jets and Sadie has an "I am woman, hear me roar, I don't need no stinkin' man" moment, then Rory realizes he's being an ass and they decide they love each other. In a week.

There were so many things that didn't make sense or or weren't explained well (sometimes not at all). The whole book was a mess.

The tragedy at the Douglas Ranch devastated Rory and his surviving siblings. It also left Sadie Mann, a friend of McKenna, feeling guilty. After all her birthday sleep over was why they weren't home when the murderer struck. Now Rory is back in Marietta, he wants to come to terms with the past. Can he and Sadie have a future? She is determined to live her life to the fullest even if she can't have Rory. She wants to have a baby. I admire her for her courage to be a single mother. Rory calls her his angel, but he's never been able to face the past. I didn't want the tragedy to destroy him. His attraction to Sadie is powerful and touching. I was hopeful that they would get their HEA. I love Marietta and her people. It's always good to visit. This story is an emotional journey. Jane Porter has written characters struggling with their past. I cared for them and wanted them to get their miracle.

No romance just lots of introspective angst.
Just too unrealistic for me. Sorry I wasted my time, much better small town romance books out there.
I just can’t get past the fact the hero Rory, is 38 and still not grown up. Has demons due to things that happened as a young man he had NO control over.
The heroine Sadie is 35 and has pinned for this guy for 22 years, even though she’s never had a relationship with him. Hardly even spoken to him. Actually, she does seem to have stalked his rodeo career.
She has never married, or gotten serious about anyone else, as they are not HIM.
But she was thinking of having sex with him to get pregnant, as she wants kids.
I kept thinking these two should have been teenagers with all their moods, introspective thinking and the way they couldn’t have an honest conversation.
I felt no connection to either H and the re-harping of the same facts was annoying.
No wonder it was a free read.

I didn’t like this story at all. This is probably only the second time that I’ve stopped reading a book once I’ve started…but I just can’t finish it.

A woman is “in love” with a man that she’s never even had a conversation with for 20-ish years. She shows up at all of his rodeo competitions to see him but never talks to him - but she wants to have his baby. Now they’re back in the same town and he offers to father her child and marry her in less than 24 hours of meeting, but she fights it because “it’s too late now”.

This alpha hero cowboy has strong emotions

This was a great read. I liked the romantic leads. Rory and Sadie are terrific characters; they are mature enough to know themselves well and yet flexible enough to allow room to grow when old habits no longer serve for making good life choices. The story was well paced and backstory served to move the plot forward. Secondary and supporting characters served to bring life into another fine story set in Marietta, Montana.

Loved this story! It's a fantastic story of going home, facing the past as hard as it is, and finding that one person who has always known and loved you no matter what. Rory and Sadie are great characters and seeing them get their HEA was awesome. Definitely put this one on the must read list. I highly recommend it.

This is a predictable romance between two people who are both lost in their memories and the emotions that come with them. Sadie Mann wants children badly, and has now finally moved to a place in her life where that is possible. For years, Sadie has wanted the father to be her lifelong crush, Rory Douglas. She even followed him as he went through the rodeo circuit as a bull rider, though she never once stopped to speak with him. Since they both grew up in Marietta, MT, Sadie knew Rory’s family, though not him, and the unfinished mystery that surrounded them. Rory as ben running away for a long time. Years before, he found most of his family murdered at their ranch home one night in Marietta—a case that remains unsolved. Now, Rory has returned to Marietta. Sadie should be happy, but she has finally resolved to move on from her crush, to find a good life without Rory. Rory just wants to put his past behind him and finally move on from that dreadful night when he found he bodies at his home. This seemingly unsuitable (for each other) pair come together in Marietta for a sweet but short romance.

The story is predictable. The characters Sadie and Rory are done well, with good chemistry between them from the start. The setting in this small town is also quite suitable to the romance and story that unfolds. My only problem was that it all was a little bit too pat for me. No mystery. No wondering about how or if the couple would get together, as it was obvious, from the start, they would. Too convenient for my taste. Still, it is a good, feel good romance that provided me an enjoyable read. This is the season for happiness, joy and love, and this book brings that to the reader. I received this from NetGalley to read and review.

Storytelling at its finest.

Sadie Mann wants to have a baby. And for years, she wanted that baby's father to be her lifelong crush, bull rider, Rory Douglas. She would even travel around the country to different events just to see him. But she never had the courage to talk to him. When Rory finally returned to Marietta, Sadie had already moved on from him and was planning on using a donor for her baby.

Rory first spotted Sadie in the stands two and a half years ago. He didn't know anything about her, but liked to think of her as his angel. There for the rodeo and then she disappears. The night Rory got in a bull named Hammerfall in Clovis, California, his angel couldn't save him. His luck ran out and he suffered a severe injury. He was lucky to be alive.

Rory is now investing in properties and returned to his home town of Marietta Montana to check out an apartment building. When Rory discovers his mysterious angel was living right there in Marietta, the town he grew up in, he knew he had to know her. Sadie confides in Rory about wanting to have a baby and how she planned to go about it. But Rory has an idea all his own. He wants a family with Sadie. They decide on four dates to see if they are compatible. With a little luck, they both just might get what they desire.

I loved this book. Both characters had such a sadness in their past that it seemed they were perfect to help each other. With new goals in their lives, and Sadie not wanting to budge at first, it was fun to see them come together in the end.

"Received an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for a fair review"
4.5 stars.
This book was way better than I was expecting and not at all the standard romance novel I thought it would be. The premise of the story, Sadie’s obsession or “impractical dream” about Rory, our lovely tortured hero, was a hard one to tackle, but the author, Jane Porter, constructed a beautiful tale about two mature people with great chemistry.
I loved the characters’ voices, both hardened by grief and tragedies (Rory), but, at the same time, displaying an innocence and earnestness that are captivating.
The story flows naturally, the characters grow and communicate, talk about their feelings and doubts, and the dialogue is excellent.
This is really a lovely and compelling story, intensely romantic without being sappy, and a pleasure to read.
I'm grateful to the publisher, Tule Publishing, and NetGalley for providing a free copy

Sadie and Rory have both been drawn together like magnets for years. Sadie has loved him from afar and Rory knows she's his muse. One Christmas, their paths cross by chance or fate. Sadie tries to resist him, but it's hard to fight a love that just grows stronger. He offers to help her fulfill her dream, but she says no. She knows there's a part of their mutual past he's unaware of and it haunts her. Till he finds out and his anger combined with her guilt drives a wedge between them. The love is real and true, and a snowstorm threatens to keep them apart, but Rory is determined to find her...love is worth fighting for and it's worth the wait. A wonderful Christmas romance with love, forgiveness, and a HEA!

I got this story free on kindle and I decided to use it for a reading challenge. I was excited to jump into a heartwarming Christmas story at the start of December, and planned to indulge in as much warm-fuzzy-Christmas-story-reading as possible. Instead, I ended up in a reading slump. Largely because I pretty much hated everything about the first half of this book. I should have DNF'd it, but I had already started it for a reading challenge and since it is fairly short, decided to try to push through it. That was a mistake.

Things I kind of hated but lots of people seem to love:

1. The woman, Sadie, is obsessed with having a baby and stalks her childhood obsession with the dream/intent of asking him be the father (by sperm donation). You read that right. I personally hate plots that revolve around the need for a woman to have a baby to feel complete, etc. But wait, there's more. Let's unpack this. Sadie has a lifelong unrequited love for Rory, her small-town love. Rory, a bull rider with a painful past, apparently grew up in the same small Montana town as Sadie and has no idea who she is. Like, not even the vaguest bit of recognition. (She was younger, she was from a "nobody" family, she was basically friendless and invisible, etc. As someone from a small-town scene, I grant that it is possible, but it still felt a bit ridiculous. Especially since Rory picked her out of the crowd over years of her randomly attending his bull riding competitions around the country because he somehow just knew she was there for him alone.) And she is. Sadie follows him around the country (she is, for a convenient period of time, a flight attendant that manages to fly to all sorts of cities instead of regular, scheduled routes, to pop up and see his bull riding competitions), supposedly with the intent of getting up the nerve to ask him donate sperm to allow her to be inseminated with; to be her dream donor daddy. When Rory is in a bull riding accident and ends up hospitalized, however, Sadie manages to visit him in the hospital and decide that he's hell-bent on destroying himself and that its finally time on writing him off. Classy.

2. Rory instantly decides to be Baby Daddy, but only traditionally. Rory returns to his little Montana town for some real estate business (and, of course, reconcile with his past, the murder of most of his family [not really a spoiler; not a "hidden" tragedy]). He instantly recognizes Sadie as his mysterious "fan" and is, of course, smitten. Almost immediately after their first conversation, Sadie tells him all about her plans to be a single mother via AI or IVF and how he was her ideal candidate. It leads to:

3. Terribly, awful, cringe-worthy dialogue. Maybe it's because I'm an introvert that I find this unfathomable, absurd, and cringe-worthy, but Sadie's "revelation" to Rory about wanting his sperm/genes for her child, and most of their conversations thereafter are so bad they're painful. If people genuinely talk like this, especially to people they barely know (despite a lifetime of idolation), I weep for them.

"How would having my kid help anything?"
"Because I'd have a part of you. You wouldn't be totally gone. You'd still exist--"
"This is nonsense, Sadie."
"Maybe to you, because you have no idea how wonderful you are. You place no value on your life, and can't seem to care that people really, truly love you and if something happens to you, hearts will be broken. My heart will be broken. Yes, you're tough, and you've survived a lot, but you're not immortal, and you're not replaceable, and when you're gone my life will never be the same. That's why I wanted your baby." Her tears were falling so fast she couldn't catch them all. "I wanted something of you to cherish when you're no longer here--"
He grabbed her and puller her to him, kissing her to stop the stream of furious words.
...
"Not fair," she choked, looking up at him with bright dark eyes, soft pink lips, and flushed cheeks. "You can't kiss me like that when I've given you up!"
"Well, maybe I haven't given you up."
"You never had me--"
"Oh, darlin' I've had you for years."

This is basically after Rory recognizes her, on, like, their first outing. My Kindle notes: "I hate this book" and "Cringe." If you want another passage I highlighted with the note, "I hate this book," click for the spoiler (it's not really a spoiler, I'll just hide it so the general reader can move on.)

4. Man constantly tells Woman what she needs and doesn't need. Manly man tells woman her own thoughts. Sometimes, Rory is calling Sadie on her BS, which doesn't always bother me. But throughout the story, Rory just keeps "telling it like it is" to his "Darlin," "Angel," or whatever charming pet name he has for the encounter and Sadie sometimes spits something back but also relents. (See dialogues above.)

5. It's a Christian romance not labelled as Christian romance. I avoid all things Christian romance, and I easily filter my reading accordingly. Shortly after starting, Rory starts saying prayers for himself, and the theme of God and prayer runs throughout the book. Despite the fact that I dislike and avoid Christian romance, it's the last on the list here because it's not overly obnoxious in the book. As someone uninterested in "praise God" shoutouts in my romance reading, the thread throughout made me roll my eyes, but did not actually influence my dislike for the book (all of the above had already taken care of that). But I am also not thrilled that it isn't labelled as such when I went to double-check if I missed a warning sign (nope; I searched the Amazon page with no result for "Christian" and Goodread's top shelves that show with the summary all focus on "Christmas," "Contemporary," and "Holiday.") Just an FYI for anyone who appreciates the warning, this isn't a "Miracle on 34th Street" sort of miracle, it's more like, "I said a prayer and you were the answer because God is real and I am blessed" miracle.

Why two stars?
Despite the constant notes I made throughout of "I hate this book," and "Barf," and "Barf again," and "Uuuuuuugh," there was a glimmer of a decent story in the book. After the initial pains of the plot and character introductions, there is a period of genuine romance/dating where some of the conversations are a bit more natural, and Rory does call out Sadie on unrealistic expectations of himself, and of "motherhood" being a romanticized cure-all, etc. For those small moments, I give the book credit. For the eventual development of a real relationship, even if I continued to roll my eyes at some dialogue and God-praising and "two-parents are best" ideologies, the second half of the book was an improvement on the first half. The title of the book has significance, and although anticlimactic, credit to that.

So, 1-star to the first half, 2/2.5 for the second half, rounding up to 2 stars overall in the generous spirit of Christmas that this book nearly ruined for me.

An emotional rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. Rory's pain was so palpable that I found myself in tears numerous times. Ms Porter's exemplary writing created in him a troubled sole who had finally stopped running from his pain...he recognized in Sadie a woman who could actually help him heal. Her feistiness and strength capture first his attention then his heart. How they had longed for each, in vastly different ways, was both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.

You could actually feel Sadie's longing and desire to know the larger than life Rory who she'd loved more than half her life. Then there was Rory's curiosity and captivation for a woman he didn't even know. The author wrote each of them with such realism that it was like being witness first hand to their discoveries of each other.

Along with sharp wit and a smart dialog, never have I been so moved and swung from tears to laughter within a sentence...it was so easy to lose myself in these two characters who captured my heart. Rory and Sadie's story was both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. Ms Porter should be commended for creating such lifelike characters.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

Wasn’t sure about this one when I started it but I ended up tearing up early on! It turned out to just be the sweetest thing. It focuses on the romance and the emotions (the tragedy in Rory’s past that affects them both and is dealt with emotionally, but not solved or addressed in a detailed way). The characters are delightful and meant-to-be and although there’s ups and downs as they deal with the past and this new, terrifying, exciting love between them—they don’t let the blips hold them back for long. If you like a story that’s cute, sweet, well-written, and occurs during Christmas, this one’s for you!

This book was sweet, and an interesting story. However, it felt like Rory and Sadie moves WAY too fast, and honestly I feel like they both could benefit from some therapy. I didn’t love the god stuff, but at least it wasn’t too much. Overall, it was a nice book and an easy read.

When I opened up my Kindle to begin Miracle On Chance Avenuethe first thing that caught my eye was the dedication page. Caught my eye and maybe choked up my throat a bit as well …“For all the wonderful, amazing readers who have taken Marietta, Montana into your hearts – This one is for you!” … Jane Porter, dedication page of Miracle on Chance Avenue” Now, having completed this simply amazing story I need to say right from the start, Thank you for a wonderful story that not only celebrates everything that Marietta, Montana represents but for giving us such a touching story for the Douglas family. Nothing can take away the pain of a tragedy, but Rory and Sadie’s story can certainly give a sense of hope, cleansing and perhaps some closure for a family that has been through so much. So… thank you.

Miracle on Chance Avenue is one of the most touching, most powerful stories I have read. Period. And I’ve read a lot of Romance. It is these things for several reasons. Certainly a lovely romance between a young woman who has had her heart set on one man, even though he didn’t even know she existed at least as far as she knew. And one rough, wounded man who took chances with his life every single time he stepped into a rodeo arena because this is the one thing he has control over. They share a past that Rory isn’t totally aware of, and if Sadie could have her wish they’d share even more. But she’s never approached him, watching only from the stands as he battles with bulls and mostly wins… except for the time he didn’t. Life took a painful turn for Sadie, and she made the decision to move home to Marietta, change her life around and find another way to fulfill her dream. She never expected Rory to return home again, and she certainly never expected him to want to stay… with her.

If you have followed any of the various series set in Marietta, Montana then at some point you’ve heard about the home invasion at the Douglas ranch. How it has never been solved and left a large part of a family killed senselessly and the surviving children forever touched by an act that has no real ending, for the pain goes on forever. Rory was the son, the young man who returned home after delivering his sister to a sleepover birthday party to find his brother barely alive and the rest of his family massacred

It’s time for closure in the Douglas family. And we’ll get to walk along side of Rory and Sadie as they relive that night.with memories both sweet, loving and filled with pain and loss. We’ll also get to see a new beginning for something that has set alone, deserted for so long merely a place where ghosts walked and memories lingered. So, yes, when I say powerful I mean that word for you will not close this book without feeling deep in your heart the loss and the love of this couple or this family. It will move you, and perhaps have you sending up a little prayer of thankfulness for your own blessings.

Ms. Porter has given us readers a wonderful, touching gift in Miracle On Chance Avenue – and for that I say a heartfelt thank you.

I would highly recommend this story to any Romance reader but especially to those readers who love the people of Marietta, Montana almost like family.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Rory is a 35+ year old bull rider. He's called Gramps on the circuit. He's noticed a young woman attending many of the venues where he's riding. He wonders about her, but she never introduces herself. Sadie was 13 when she fell for Rory. Tragedy ensues and Rory stays away from his hometown for years.

Rory gets injured while riding and is taken to the hospital. When he opens his eyes, he sees the young woman who has been in the stands. Apparently he says things she can't forget or forgive.

Rory comes back to his hometown to look over some property he's interested in purchasing. He finally meets the woman from the hospital. They are instantly attracted to each other. So much so that when she tells him she wants to be a mother and will be doing assisted reproduction, he decides she shouldn't and he should be the father. Sheesh...

Maybe I needed to read the first book in the series for this book to make more sense. I did FINALLY begin to understand what was going on probably mid-way through. A tragedy happened. I get that. But WHY IN THE WORLD would Rory make this about Sadie, especially when they practically fell into each others arms from the beginning? Because of the house and street where she lives?? Because his sister McKenna was saved because she was at a sleepover at Sadie's house that night? Then he comes crawling back asking for forgiveness?

The tragedy had me wondering too. I'm assuming that 'who done it' will ultimately be revealed in subsequent books. Talking about the tragedy and Rory saving Quinn but unable to save his other siblings or his parents is kind of a hook. I might even read the rest of the books just to find out what's going on...or...maybe more of what happened is in the first book and I need to go back and read that!

I've read other books by Ms. Porter and they've been enjoyable. Unfortunately this one had me wondering what was going on.

Such premise but....

Such a waste!! I was so disappointed I’ve read books by this author before and love them but this one I could not get into without rolling my eyes. Loving a man from afar since you thirteen is more like a crush turned obsession. Then you go to all his events in hopes of him getting you pregnant??! Then when you do finally meet you y’all fall in love in two weeks. This story was utterly ridiculous. Not to mention repetitive and needed some editing. I felt no chemistry and no connection whatsoever. They only time this book made me feel anything was when they have their little fight towards the end.

Really primitive reading.

I must have chosen to read this book to me two year old grand daughter. Never have I encountered such a childish read. Was this truly written for adult reading? My mistake.

Miracle on Chance Avenue was a very sweet and entertaining holiday romance. This is the story of Rory, a bull rider who never got over a terrible tragedy that took most of his family, and Sadie who has had a crush on him forever. Sadie is ready to be a mom and always thought Rory would be the perfect father but could never even work up the nerve to talk to him. Rory hadn't noticed Sadie in the town they both grew up in, but in the past few years he's noticed her in the stands at several of his bull riding events and started to think of her as his, even though they'd never met. When a career threatening bull riding accident, and the death of Sadie's mother brings them both home to Marietta, Montana, Rory and Sadie must both overcome their past hurts to determine if there is a chance for a real lasting love between them or if their connection was just in their heads.
As I was reading I got a sense of book deja vu, but quickly realized that it was because I'd previously read Jane Porter's The Kidnapped Christmas Bride which stars Rory's sister McKenna and therefore had the same back story. So if you've read that one parts of this book will seem familiar.
Over all I really enjoyed reading this. It was a quick read and it really drew me in so I was done in a day. I like Jane Porter's writing style a lot, she had a perfect amount of humor and emotion through out the book. I really liked the characters of Sadie and Rory. I loved that the author gave a lot of back story into their childhoods and families. That really helped me to connect with them and better understand their feelings and actions. I liked that the author focused equally on both characters and they both helped each other through their issues. There were some very touching moments and I felt like I was genuinely invested in the character's happiness and was pulling for their happily ever after.
This was a "sweet" romance some Christian elements (I've read this author before and don't remember that in previous books), which is not usually my style but I have to say that I truly enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys holiday romance reads with lots of emotion, but no overt love scenes
