The author of Bad Girl proves that sometimes being bad feels really good.
As the owner and editor-in-chief of Heat , Dallas's hottest new e-zine, Leah Reece will do anything to get her story, even venture into the shady underworld of 69, an erotic club which caters to the needs of those with enough money to get anything they want. Leah expected to get her scoop and run, but didn't count on getting sidetracked by a sinful encounter with a dark and sultry bad boy.
Quin Perez is a bodyguard at 69. He can't afford to lose his concentration for a second, but he can't help lusting after the sexy editor who stumbles across his path. Now Quin is asking Leah questions she doesn't want to answer--and making her do things she never dared.
Not too bad. It has some pretty sexy/smutty moments, some humor, and there was a bit of a plot and some suspense, but it didn't totally wow me. It did its job and entertained me, though.
Beautiful blonde Leah Reece's the editor of Dallas's hottest e-zine (online magazine). She's working on a story about a secret, membership only erotic club known as the 69 Club where those with enough money can get whatever kinky thing they want. Leah (32) would like to learn the secrets of this club and expose them. While visiting the club one night as a guest she meets a sexy, tall, tattooed, dark and dangerous man (Quin Perez) who's working as a bodyguard to the club's shady owner. Quin's got "bad boy" written all over him, and Leah has a history of not being able to resist a bad boy, even though she knows they're no good for her. It doesn't take long before the fresh out of prison Quin (34) and Leah act on their dangerous mutual attraction to each other, once in the ladies room of a restaurant, and then outside in an alley (ick). Oh yeah, they're hot together, but how much do they really know about each other? Eventually they come up for air, and start talking. Quin knows that Leah's trying to write a story about the club, and tries to warn her off. No way does the club's sleazy owner want a magazine to expose his nasty, illegal secrets, and no way does the owner want Quin to be hanging around a writer. Quin's relationship with Leah could get him into a lot of trouble, and it just might expose the real reason he's working at the 69 Club. Will Leah take the strong hint and back off her story and let Quin do his (secret) job? Or will she charge full speed ahead with her desire to 'get the story' and risk both her life and Quin's?
No question that Leah and Quin had some pretty hot chemistry, but I kind of felt they started off their relationship backwards, which made it hard to connect with them. Almost immediately things were out-of-control sexual, they couldn't keep their hands off each other, then gradually they started talking and learned a bit about each other, then they grew to really like each other. Things moved pretty fast between them, and in less than a week's time they were in love. So if you have trouble with believing in 'speedy' romances, this one might not be for you. If you can put doubts aside and go for it, you might enjoy Leah and Quin's super steamy romance. I liked Leah and Quin (especially Quin), and I enjoyed the glimpses into Quin's background and interaction with his family. And yes, Leah ends up having a TSTL moment (which I expected), but I guess it was needed to add some suspense to the story and to move the plot along, so I was okay with it.
So, "Bad Boy" is not a book with the most original or suspenseful plot, but one that relies on the heat given off by the H/h. Judging it that way, it delivers, because Quin and Leah can really work up a sexual sweat. 3 1/2 stars
Note: "Bad Boy" is loosely related to Bad Girl (the character of Sandy is Leah's best friend and her husband Zeke grew up with Quin) but can be read as a stand alone.
Warning: This book contains explicit language, explicit sex (including oral and anal), and the use of some sex toys. Not for the faint of heart.
Leah Reece is the editor-in-chief of Heat, a popular e-zine that talks about everything dealing with sex. Leah wants to write an article about the Sixty-Nine Club, a secretive Dallas sex club located in a restored Mediterranean-style mansion. Leah rents a box at the club and takes along her friend Sandy and her husband Zeke for company. Leah expects to see some kinky sexual acts, but is in for a surprise when she meets Quin Perez who works at the Sixty-Nine Club as a bodyguard for the dangerous owner, Miguel Lucero. Quin makes quite the impression on Leah with his dark looks, muscles and tattoos. When Leah is caught sneaking around the club by Miguel, Quin covers for her She knows Quin is a good guy even if he has been to jail and gives off a dangerous aura.
Quin would love nothing more than to get down Leah’s pants. He reads her column and thinks she is smart and beautiful. But Leah is placing herself in danger by trying to uncover the underground acts that occur at the Sixty-Nine Club and the mystery that surrounds Miguel. Quin is afraid Miguel will hurt Leah if she continues on her quest for the truth. She has no idea what she is up against and who Quin really is, but he tries to keep Leah busy in other ways which will lead to a smoldering and intense love affair between the two.
Quin seems to be the ultimate BAD BOY in this latest erotic romance by Maya Reynolds. Ms. Reynolds shows the inner workings of a dirty underground sex club and how dangerous that lifestyle can be especially when criminals are involved. Leah is a self assured woman who loves sex and because Quin is a bit mysterious, she is very turned on by him. But Quin is not what he seems. He treats Leah as if she is precious and because of this, you will find yourself falling for Quin just as Leah has.
The loves scenes are a bit too purple in their descriptions from a woman’s clitoris being called a miniature penis and pleasure button, but some readers may enjoy that language. I wasn’t too keen on those descriptions and couldn’t help but laugh out loud. But with that aside, Quin and Leah have some nice chemistry and their couplings are hot and heavy.
Quin has a loving family which he introduces Leah to who also gives her more insight into the man she shares her body with. Both Sandy and Zeke are also there to give Leah advice.
BAD BOY should appeal to fans of the erotic who enjoy a touch of suspense while reading.
Erotic romance with good relationship development. The weakness was the ending suspense being ordinary and predictable.
STORY BRIEF: Leah is the creator and manager of HEAT, an e-magazine. She goes undercover to the 69 Club, a sex club, to write an article. Quin was recently released from jail and now works for the owner of the club, Lucero. Leah and Quin are hot for each other and start seeing each other. When Lucero discovers Leah’s identity, he intends to do her harm to keep his club and other activities out of the public eye.
REVIEWER’S OPINION: The first ¾ of the book was well done. I enjoyed the characters getting to know each other and their lustful relationship development. They come from two different worlds and blend well. She’s blond, an only child, with a wealthy father. He’s working class Hispanic from a large family. The sex scenes were good. I was not as pleased with the last ¼ of the book which was mostly suspense. Both Leah and Quin were in danger. This part was ok, but it was predictable and too much like other suspense stories. On balance, the book is above average for the relationship development.
I have one problem which is the publisher’s fault (not the author’s). Quin has tattoos on his biceps, pecs and forearms, but the picture on the cover does not.

Leah Reece shows up at the exclusive Club 69 determined to meet with her informant, to find out what is behind the scenes at the erotic club. As owner of Heat magazine, she is looking at a scoop that could catapult the magazine into higher readership. Leah doesn't expect to meet 69 bodyguard Quin Perez, or the fact she is ready to tear her clothes off at a moments notice if he were to ask.
Quin knows Leah is after something, he just needs to figure out what. Feeling an instant draw to the beautiful woman and a protective urge he has never felt before, he plans to protect her from herself and if it means keeping her snuggled up next to him, then so be it.
I love this cover, that being said was not as crazy about the book. I liked elements of it. The chemistry is definitly off the charts, but it moved a little fast for me and I felt conflicted a bit by Quin's persona.
The relationship between the protagonists was interesting, but the book in general was full of clichés and stereotypes, so, I didn't like it that much. I don't particularly recommend it either. It was just and 'ok' read.
