Look Inside: 30 Days to Ending Your War with the Mirror

Rate this book
Look Inside is a 30-day devotional to help you end your war with the mirror. You are not alone in your battle with body image. Yet, sometimes we find ourselves a little lost without anyone to ask for help and the feelings of loneliness settle in. We begin to wonder where to go next and if we will ever find our way back on the right path... With Biblical truth and gut-honest vulnerability about her own personal battle, Cambria will help you: Stop feeling discouraged about your body and learn to make peace with yourself today. Replace your tendency of feeling defeated over numbers on the scale with wisdom that walks in victory. Overcome the fear of never being able to measure up to even your own standards by setting a new standard - a standard of grace, not perfection. Recognize the lies that feed your insecurities by fighting back with the truth of God's Word. Learn to stop agonizing over your refection by embracing that God looks for beauty on the inside. Look Inside reminds us that we are created with the very fingerprint of God upon us. Even when the mirror makes us feel insecure we can rest in the security that the Creator of the heaven's and the earth has never spoken anything but words of beauty over you. So turn your eyes away from the mirror and come, look inside.

I thought this book would be one of thought provoking journal prompts but instead Cambria shares her story of binge eating and asks 1 question of 3 statements in the reflection section. I enjoyed reading it but it wasn't necessary to purchase the physical book, an e book would have been just fine. Her writing is appropriate and you can hear her voice throughout which was comforting. I think a podcast series would have been more appropriate for this book. But you can't make money off of it. A lot of empty spaces as well. Definitely not worthy of a physical book. My favorite part was: progress > perfection i loved these lottle things with the bible verses. But it lead to many blank pgs.

This was easily the 4th or 5th time I've read this book. Cambria brings you to focus first and foremost on the cross, on Jesus and your inner beauty. But I appreciate how this devotional does address healthy eating and exercise. She shares her struggles with binge eating and exercising for the wrong motivates. She presents healthy eating (not dieting) and moving your body as a way to thank God and care for the bodily temples He has given to us to serve Him with.

"Healthy is not about seeing changes on the scale or never missing a gym session. It's about seeing yourself in the way that God sees you." - Cambria Joy

This book motivates me to pursue healthy living in the right way - in freedom, for enjoyment, with thanksgiving and full dependence on Christ.

This book helped me a lot as an early teen and is one I continually go back to underlining and highlighting new things each time.

I never write book reviews, but I had to for this one. Cambria is so knowledgeable and relatable in general, and this bible study just reflects it to the max. I had no idea how much I would learn after purchasing this, and now that I have completed it I am inspired to really delve deeper into scripture. Cambria is such an inspiration to others and I am so so thankful that there are people girls like me can look up to, her words are so valid and hold such truth. Plus, she autographed the book! I can’t tell you how happy I was to see that, and I plan on definitely purchasing whatever she has cooking next! ❤️

I love Cambria, I’ve been watching her for years. She is so honest and inspiring and I really, REALLY wish she’d find enough peace to resume making regular videos. She’s the one that inspired me to create a prayer journal. I miss her and hope life settles down for her.
This is a good read and I can tell she worked hard on it. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 just bc I felt that it got a little repetitive. BUT I don’t struggle with genuine binge eating disorder so that part wasn’t for me anyway.
This is helpful and gives a lot of insight and new perspectives on how to honor God through honoring your body.
