Series True Crime Biographies Book 1
Precise and cleverly written. Some amazing facts about a person I was always curious about are revealed in such a way that I have stopped my obsession over this personality.
Ted Bundy is no longer a person I used to think he was. Thanks to this book.
Ted Bundy was a cold-hearted killer who seemed to get a thrill from murdering young vulnerable women, some of them only children. It is hard to believe that anyone thought he was innocent but a small number did, including one of his girlfriends who married him while he was in prison and claimed to have born his child, although they had never been allowed to be alone together. Maybe if there were DNA capabilities back then, he would have been convicted sooner. Still, it’s hard to accept that he so easily killed and fled and the bodies took so long to be found.
Few people are more deserving to head the annals of infamy than Theodore Robert Bundy. He is the epitome and personification of evil and the scope and horror of his crimes can never be revealed or understood. One would, understandably, ask why his story would be written and saved after the world is thankfully rid of him. Lynda Ann Healy, Donna Gail Manson, Susan Elaine Rancourt, Roberta Kathleen Parks, Brenda Carol Ball, and Georgann Hawkins are just a few of his victims, forming just a very small tip of a very large iceberg of murders. What lies beneath the waves will never be exposed and the unknown victim’s stories never told. Ted Bundy’s rampage of violence and murder lasted from 1974 – 1978, almost four years. This can be attributed to many factors. Ted Bundy looked and acted much like anyone else; he didn’t sport horns or display a demonic glare or smile. The police’s inability and blatant incompetence extended the Bundy reign of terror unnecessarily. In the end, after four signed death warrants, Ted Bundy was executed on January 24, 1989. Most books in this series serve as inspiration for further research. This book, however, is more than enough to sate anyone’s curiosity. It is a relief that this homicidal maniac no longer walks among us but, at the same time, it should serve as a warning that evil lurks in the darkness, robbing us of innocence. This story isn’t about the ruthless killer Ted Bundy, but about his multitude of innocent victims, both known and unknown. Lest we never forget.
Soul-searching. This is about Bundy the serial killer, time was not spent hypothesizing on his childhood/parents, etc. I was struck by the author's ability to tell of Bundy's crimes in a smooth timeline.
Sadly, the missed opportunities to report his various attempts once again didn't happen. Hindsight.
May the family and friends of all those taken to soon find peace in their memories.
This is basically a Cliff's Notes version of Ted Bundy's life. It was well written enough, but if you're looking for a more in depth story, this isn't it. If this is your first time reading about Bundy, then this could serve as an outline of his history and crimes.
On the whole, the book was written nice due to the information the author had about the criminal, but I wished i could dive into the criminal's mind more to see the world as he sees :))
One of the benefits of reading a true crime book such as this one is to gather facts that are spread over time and space and assemble them into a succinct history. Obviously, Ted Bundy was intelligent enough to realize that committing murders over many areas helped him avoid detection. The scary thing is that Bundy, once he got started, was frighteningly constant in murdering. He seemed to kill monthly.
I enjoyed this history because it gave me an opportunity to see if I want to spend more time on this particular criminal. At first, the chapters seemed to be just a recitation of many of Bundy's crimes. However, in later chapters, it became obvious that Bundy was so dangerous because he was so intelligent.
I have heard and read a few articles about Ted Bundy, but I had no idea how maniacal and brutal he was. This is a great read about one of America's Maniacal Serial Killers. I like the writer's choice of recording and revising the events in chronological history. One can follow the rise and eventual demise of this unremorseful , deranged, brutal killer.
Another classic by hourly history. They never disappoint you.
Ted bundy was a real maniac and pyscopath. Heartless is the real word for it. Its unimaginable to do such heinous and brutal crime against women. Outright disgusting. Of Course he could have been caught earlier if it happened now. What a shame though.
I've heard of Ted Bundy but never actually read up on him. The Nightstalker was pure evil and it was vidible, Ted Bundy was pure evil as well but hidden under a smile and common everyday way about him. Which is scarier? This read taught me a lot and covered his story very well.
This was a very factual account of the events leading up to the execution of Ted Bundy. Very linear and accurate. I have seen the docu series and watched the Bundy tapes, so I know the progression. He was a horrible man, but this is a good account of his activities and finally his much deserved death.
I was surprised this was as well written as it was considering it is from the Hourly History bookshelf. Yet when I say that, I don't mean Hourly History is poorly written; it was my expectation that it wouldn't be all that good. However, this was pretty interesting and well-written. There were actually facts included in it that I was unaware of regarding Ted Bundy although I've read quite a lot about him. I would recommend this book for anyone who doesn't know anything about Bundy or who wants more information. It doesn't go over your head but is easily read and captures and keeps your attention.
Completely blown away by this. Absolutely creeped out by this loser who was the Devil himself. Of all the Hourly History books that I've read so far, this one will stay with me for a long time. Wow. Well done...
The book felt rushed. Just seemed like the author wanted to hit all his bullet points so he wrote a couple pages for each and moved on. Still great information but i didn't learn anything i didn't already know without even reading other ted bundy books
This short reading of Ted Bundy was for very informative and I do remember the articles in the newspapers and on the t.v..Very distrubing. Glad he was finally caught and put away then executed.
Third is a decent overview of just how evil and sinister Bundy was. It is a short, easy read that basically rehashed already well-known facts. In short, this doesn't really offer any new information. At any rate, it wasn't a bad way to spend an afternoon.
Two inaccuracies in the first couple of chapters i.e. the child who he probably killed did not take piano from his uncle. She took lessons from someone who lived next door to his uncle.
This book wasn't much different than the others that fill you in on a killers life, however it was cleaner than most when it came to details pertaining to the victims and cases for those of you who are a Little more particular on the details and morbid side.
A great quick overview of one of the worst and probably most known serial killers in history. This book gives you a quick rundown of the women Bundy killed. I would've liked to seen more about his background however it was still informative.
Given the length, a good overall summary. This is a quick read, but touched on the essentials. Would recommend to those seeking a life-long perspective.
