Sating Ember Moon

Rate this book
Three years have passed since Earth’s brush with Armageddon, the destruction wiping out two-thirds of Earth’s population. Mankind not only co-exists with daemons now, their very existence depends on them. Ember Moon was a survivor long before the world’s near miss. She endured a childhood of abuse from her step-father, her mother’s death, and the disappearance of her best friend and first love, Harrison Cayce. She never forgot Harrison and once old enough, set out to find him on her own. Unfortunately, her most promising lead was a trap that left her possessed with a dangerous demon. Now Ember needs Harrison’s help to control the demon, or the demon will control her . . .eventually killing her. Harrison Cayce Sinclair knows a thing or two about survival himself. Adia, a powerful daemon who abused and tortured boys, abducted him as a teenager. Harrison endured her twisted love, watched as she cruelly used one boy after another, and was the only one to make it out of her chambers alive—at least as alive as a newly transformed vampire can be. Now, years later, the young girl he never forgot is caught in the sick games of the one woman he’s been unable to bring to justice. The only way to stop Adia is to return to the dark place where it all began . . . but is their love strong enough to survive the past?

I didn’t know that this book existed or what it fully was about until I read further into the book and heard a familiar name. After that I went back to finished The Knight then inhaled this book….
You don’t have to have read the Originals Trilogy in order to enjoy this book, but I highly recommend you do because it was awesome and will give you a better understanding of what the heck happened to the world. The author does a great job of introducing the reader to her creations so you don’t have to worry about getting lost.
I admit when I first started this book I didn’t really put the two together since the first character you meet is Ember, but then I heard Adia, and Harry and started to wonder . When I heard Julian, well I just did a mental facepalm and hurried to finished The Knight.
I was excited to read this story since Harrison was another character I wanted to learn more about from the trilogy. It was also nice to get a peek on how life has been after the events of The Knight for some of my favorite characters—I <3 Duncan.
This book, like others of the author I’ve read, have some dark elements that some people might avoid. I admire how she handles traumatic events, the way she handles them make them believable. Personally I get more satisfaction when the character over comes their past events when they are presented in a believable context.
The way she introduced the succubae was pretty interesting. The way they’re created, how they have to survive, and the way they present themselves when the demon shows through the host. The array of possible and known demons was intriguing. It was also an interesting spin to make the almost too good social worker turn into a succubus … then make it so Harrison had to be the one to help Ember with his past being what it was. The fact that both of them having so many hang-ups they floundered when talking to each other even though they knew each other and were really close from before was hard to read at times.
That was the only thing I wasn’t too keen on with this book. I don’t like when the conflict teeters mostly on a miscommunication between the main characters. Luckily that was not the only thing that carried the story from beginning to end. It had wonderful characters, an interesting world, and a main conflict that just begged for you to keep reading. The lack of communication between Em and Harry drove me nuts, but interactions from secondary characters soothed it. I so loved seeing more of Jules, especially since I read The Knight right before I started this book. I also loved seeing Duncan’s appearances, especially at the end. It was almost like a sort of closure honestly.
I can’t wait to see what happens next in this world. The set-up for the team of Harrison, Jules, and Em for the DDC just scream potential for more stories.

Read this. Pretty please. It is so good and you don’t have to read the Originals Trilogy for it to make sense.

The original trilogy continues with Harrison's story in this second-chance romance, Sating Ember Moon. OMG--the heat level is 5 star, smoldering hot. is a must-read series. Cara Crescent's world building is like no other. Hang on from beginning through the entire series.
