This series has been developed specifically for the Cambridge International AS & A Level Mathematics (9709) syllabus to be examined from 2020. Cambridge International AS & A Level Probability & Statistics 2 matches the corresponding unit of the syllabus, with a clear and logical progression through. It contains materials on topics such as hypothesis testing, Poisson distribution, linear combinations and continuous random variables, and sampling. This coursebook contains a variety of features including recap sections for students to check their prior knowledge, detailed explanations and worked examples, end-of-chapter and cross-topic review exercises and 'Explore' tasks to encourage deeper thinking around mathematical concepts. Answers to coursebook questions are at the back of the book.
Pretty fun to study by myself. My studying schedules were:
Day 1 - C1, C2 Day 2 - C3, C4, C5 Day 3 - C6 Day 4 - exam papers
Some concepts were a little difficult to understand at first, namely C1, but the rest weren’t too difficult. I didn’t expect it to be difficult anyway, since this is still in A Level Mathematics rather than A Level Further Mathematics, which I’ll be going through now.
Overall, some fun topics which I never learnt in school, even though I much prefer Pure Maths over Statistics and Mechanics, and the word “probability” sort of got a bit stale at the end of the textbook.
I guess I’ll count this as a book read on Goodreads, since it technically is a book and also I need to finish 92 more books before next year so I need as much help as I can get. At least I read it, rather than including books illegitimately.
