Fear everything. And pay the fear monger, because he has a family to feed.

Great reference book to help navigate the online world with teens. It serves as a great reminder to your kids that you aren’t punishing, but protecting and helping them learn what’s ok & what’s not. Each chapter has takeaways and Q&A as well, and it’s setup that you don’t have to read in sequential order ... although I did, because I’m psychotic like that. 🤪

Terrifying but a really important read. I would go a section at a time and then give yourself something light to read in between. Excellent information.

It was great until I got to the point where CNN and the New York Times were touted as reputable news sources on scouting out fake news.

If only they would come over and set up all these things themselves! Then it would definitely be a 5. But this book is the next best thing.

Parent Alert: How to Keep Your Kids Safe Online is a practical guide for parents to help understand the online dangers facing our youth. It is written from differing perspectives: from a security expert (Will Geddes) and from two moms (Nadia Sawalha and Kaye Adams). Real-life scenarios from parents are coupled with an answer from Mr. Geddes and insight from Ms. Sawalha and Ms. Adams. The book covers the basics of online security for new parents and yields tips and tricks for more seasoned parents. The book is peppered with tons of alarming statistics that bring the point home of the risks facing kids online. The book also contains many questions from parents that are answered by the authors. Each chapter contains a handy summary for quick referencing. In this day and age, all parents need to remain vigilant concerning their children’s safety. This book is another tool to learn to do just that.

I received an advance reading copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I was not obligated to write a positive review.
