He has everything?looks, money, a fast car, an adoring girlfriend?and yet, one day his world goes into deep decline when he commits a fatal error. Mike Oates tries to get out of the horrible mess he has made of his life by conducting a passionate love affair with Lauren Moore, his beautiful childhood friend and daughter of his lawyer. He ditches his lover, Miss Wright, which in turn causes him to get entangled with a powerful and grasping mob boss. How Mike's life gets turned back around and his love for Lauren remains unscathed is described in powerfully depicted characters and plot twists in this first novel by Mary Faderan.
Not to sound stupid but the author uses some unnecessary big words that have no room for them. You shouldn't have to have a dictionary with when you read a book. The plot is or could be a fantastic one had we not branched out in so many different directions. I mean someone is stabbed over a parking spot? It belongs to Dr.A but Dr.B has been using it for his own personal gain. When Dr.A confronts Dr.B , Dr.B stabs Dr.A.Now Dr.B just happens to have a pocket knife on him....hmmmm. I never give up on a book so I read it to the end because it does have potential. So for fun I read it again only this time I made an outline of who, what, when, and where sort of thing. It gave me sense of who was who. Upon doing this it made the storyline easier to follow. I suggest that the author do the same in a similiar fashion. She goes in so many different directions because she has so many ideas that her mind is racing. She is an superb author but she risks losing fans if she doesn't formulate a solid storyline.1
I could not get into this book at all. The main character kills someone for parking in his parking spot right out of the gate, I mean really!! I thought there would be more to the story before he flipped out. DNF!
I read this book in parts over 3 months and I think the author has a nice writing style, a very broad vocabulary and I usually love love stories and I was looking forward to this one. I didn't like the plot that much, maybe because I'm not a fan of murder stories, so I would have liked a lighter emotionally plot. I have to say I was interested while reading the book. All in all it is a nice book, but maybe not my favorite genre.
*This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review
I tried. I really did. but within the 1st 10 pages the protagonist stabs to death a colleage for confronting him about parking in his spot on purpose everyday. The authors writing is choppy and difficult to get through much less connect with the main character. I have never quit on a book but theres a 1st time for everything and this writing was it. do i recommend? Heck to the No.
