My Heart Sings: The Melody of My Love

Rate this book
This author appreciates writing poetry, novels, children's stories; the performing arts; and music of many genres. She was raised on gospel and country music played on an old Victrola phonograph with a black-and-white dog staring into a gramophone on the inside of the cover. Today, this author has become enamored with and is fangirling over country a cappella music, which is relatively new. Curious about the behind the scenes activities of a successful band's life, living on the edge of temptations in today's media-frenzied world, she created a believable group running through life on unbelievable favor, spearheaded by love between a wealthy, incredibly intelligent and beautiful African-American ballerina and a super talented tenor from the deep South and their unique way of overcoming racial issues with love. Murder, sex, and drugs fuel the life and romance of these two extraordinary, opposite, characters living and excelling way above the normal expectations of life, hinting into the cosmic pluralism like no one has ever experienced before. This author spent thirty-five years in the busy, topsy-turvy support area of corporate America, starting with the FBI and ending in the legal field, before being forced to retire on disability. This is her first adult romance novel. She writes and has published poetry on poetry.com with two poems published in anthologies; she was the author and publisher of Newsletters for Boy Scout Troop and Pack 731, The Indian Creek District, and for newsletters, service bulletins, and memorial programs for two churches. The author is a widow who lives in Waldorf, Maryland, with her son, daughter-law, grandson, and grandpup, Toli.

Coni is a woman of many hats, inlove with a member of a group that travels all over the place. How they met is a fantasy and it continues in their daily lives with Coni being the centre of attention for all the Band members, even the married with children members. She is Judge,Doctor,a professional ballet dancer,a wife and so on.She is literally flawless, completely perfect. There is no woman as beautiful and complete as she is in the world.
Her heart sings for sure, she has got it made.

I don't know how this shelving thing works. However, I am too close to the author to give an unbiased review. Reading the low ratings, I must say there are so many redemptive scenarios in this debut book that it clearly overrides the 1's and 2's on a personal basis. The skills and intelligence of the female MC could reduce many to jealousy. It's the first in the My Heart series. Follow this link to read a more professional review: https://forums.onlinebookclub.org/vie... If this post is not allowed, I apologize. Please delete. The author has learned a lot during this hiatus and the writing has improved. Of particular note is the unexpected revelation of the multi-talented female MC which leads the band to be both happy and sad in the upcoming book, Daughter of the Skies, soon to be dropped.

An average read. It started on a positive note but somewhere in between the reader wants to leave the book. It is too repetitive and too much much. The Mills and Boon element is too much and the perfection of the female protagonist drives you crazy. The male protagonist seems to be a puppy who just follows her and eats out of her hand without voicing his own opinions. It has a weak storyline. So not very interesting to read.

DNFed at 24%.
The story sounded good but the main character is such a Mary Sue. She seems to be good at EVERYTHING as well as being super sexy. There were some elements of the romance I felt were unrealistic and Coni read as being a lot younger than she was.
I tried. I gave it 108 pages but I just.....I can’t finish it.

Sorry!

I cannot get on with the main character at all. Heavily contradicts everything in the same sentence. She needs a man but doesn't need a man, etc. She's put across as perfect, sexy and no flaws whatsoever. Highly unrealistic. DNF

The way this book ends is fantastic, you can imagine how Coni became a woman for her lifetime partner which is the leader of the band. The first time he sees her on that music video was truly captivating!!

So much room for improvement. It would be better if the character is realistic of not at all to avoid confusion. Book can be better than it is. But still books has that power to energize someone.
