La notte dei desideri
Battono le ore a Villa Incubo, e il consigliere d'Affattuazione Belzebù Malospirito trattiene il fiato, attanagliato dall'angoscia: mancano poche ore allo scoccare della mezzanotte del 31 dicembre e, prima che uno scampanio festoso annunci al mondo la nascita dell'anno nuovo, il diabolico mago deve riuscire a completare la sua quota di azioni malvage. Ende was one of the most popular and famous German authors of the 20th century, mostly due to the enormous success of his children's books. However, Ende was not strictly a children’s author, as he also wrote books for adults. Ende claimed, "It is for this child in me, and in all of us, that I tell my stories," and that "[my books are] for any child between 80 and 8 years" (qtd. Senick 95, 97). Ende’s writing could be described as a surreal mixture of reality and fantasy. The reader is often invited to take a more interactive role in the story, and the worlds in his books often mirror our reality, using fantasy to bring light to the problems of an increasingly technological modern society.
Ende was also known as a proponent of economic reform, and claimed to have had the concept of aging money in mind when writing Momo. He was interested in and influenced by anthroposophy.

Hier gibt es nichts zu nörgeln! Statt eines Reviews dieses überaus reizenden und wortwitzigen Kinderbuchs, welches vorzugsweise in einer Sylvesternacht zu lesen ist (so wie ich es getan habe), und bei dem es um den ewigen Kampf zwischen Gut & Böse geht, schließe ich mich einfach einigen Wünschen an, die vom satanarchäolügenialkohöllischen Wunschpunsch auch hoffentlich erfüllt werden…

machen nie mehr Gewinn.

Beelzebub Irrwitzer is cornered in his laboratory by one of Hell's emissaries, for not reaching his yearly quota of bad deeds. The dark sorcerer needs to make it up by midnight, if he didn't want to lose his soul, regardless of the numerous dastardly deeds that he did, in fact, complete. After much panicking and hand-wringing, his only choice remains to team up with his aunt, the money witch Tyrannia Vamperl.
As for the rest of the world? It seems pretty much doomed, unless the evildoers' two familiars manage to set aside their quarrel, long enough to come up with a counter plan.
I was pleasantly surprised by this little, 238-page, fairy-tale, especially since my initial interest lay solely in its lengthy (and unpronounceable) title. The naming humour was just brilliant, such as the emissary from Hell being named Maledictus Maggot, and Beelzebub repeatedly calling him Mr. Larvae.
The mentions of Beelzebub's ecologically harmful chemical experiments, Tyrannia's questionable money-making schemes, and of course the narrator's overall distain of humanity failing to step up to save the planet from imminent ecological disaster, made for quite a contemporary story, despite it having been published back in 1989.
As an adult, I was mainly interested in Beelzebub and Tyrannia's adventures. Their attempt at saving the day was much more exciting to follow, compared to that of the good guys, who heroically brave the elements on the off-chance of finding some help. Sure, the many (not so) subtle attempts to outwit one another all but telegraph inevitable failure for the bad guys. That said, for all the narrator's effort in describing Beelzebub and Tyrannia as the worst possible plague to befall the world, I still found myself rooting for the bad guys to escape from Hell's clutches.

My inner child positively adored everything about this story. Lots of magic, talking animals, some action scenes describing some extremely dangerous stunts, unexpected supernatural help, plenty of comedic relief, all nicely wrapped up in a classic-happy-ending.

On New Year's Eve, Maledictus Maggot, legal officer of His Excellency the Minister of Pitch Darkness, arrives in the laboratory of Shadow Sorcery Minister Beelzebub Preposteror, to remind Beelzebub that he's behind on his contract to wreak havoc on the world, and that if he does not make good before midnight he'll be foreclose...
I didn't get to read this one as a child, I was well into my adult days when I got my hands on it. Why do I mention this? Because the child in me is still angry she didn't get to read this and enjoy it how only children can.
In this book, Ende brews a potent dose of comic fantasy. The story bubbles thanks to the mischievous wordplay, splashing fun with comical incidents, and has been spiked with just the right dose of verse to make children laugh without annoying the parents who may be reading to them. It's true that at times the prose, perhaps because of the translation from the German, is not always graceful, but the sheer momentum of the plot and the raw power of Ende's inventiveness suffice to carry readers all the way through this extravaganza.
The two main characters are animals, a cat -Mauricio- and a bald crow -Jacob- who are both pets of evil masters, the Sorcerer Beelzebub and the witch Tyrannia Vampirella.
This is a fun book with enough of the real world in it to also make it significant in helping children see their surroundings with wiser eyes.

L'altro giorno, navigando in rete, sono incappato in una notizia che mi ha sbalordito in modo inquietante. L'Overshoot Day, cioè il giorno in cui una nazione finisce le scorte naturali che il pianeta riesce a rigenerare ogni anno. Per l'Italia quel giorno, quest'anno, è stato il 15 Maggio. In soldoni, abbiamo consumato le risorse che il nostro Pianeta ci dona ogni anno, in meno di 6 mesi. Inquietante a dir poco. Da quando ho iniziato ad interessarmi alle tematiche ambientali, forse da una quindicina d'anni, l'Overshoot Day si è sempre più anticipato. Qualche anno fa, non ricordo bene quanti, l'Overshoot Day era caduto a fine Luglio, già di per se inquietante, ma a Maggio non è solo inquietante, ma assurdo.
Infatti se tutti e oltre 8 miliardi di abitanti umani della Terra, vivessero come noi italiani, ci vorrebbero quasi 3 pianeti per soddisfarci. Per tirarci su un po' il morale, o forse sarebbe meglio dire per non sentirci troppo in colpa c'è chi fa peggio di noi, tipo gli statunitensi, dove con il loro tenore di vita ce ne vorrebbero ancora di più di pianeti, se non ricordo male all'incirca 4. Ovviamente c'è chi muore di fame e di sete, di malnutrizione ecc... Nel 2023 pare un'assurdità, visto i grandi proclami dei "Grandi" del Mondo, che tanto vorrebbero e "lavorano tanto" per l'uguaglianza tra i popoli. Ma già solo per il fatto che si definiscano "Grandi", fa decadere il discorso ad una farsa da quattro soldi se non peggio.
Nel 1989 Ende scrive questo libretto, destinato ad un pubblico giovane, dove due animali, un gatto ed un corvo, si battono per la salvezza del Mondo.
Il racconto è da subito umoristico e soprattutto satirico. L'antropomorfizzazione dei due animali, non è marcata, anzi è sfumata, come se essa apparisse soltanto nelle parti più prettamente magico/fantastiche della storia.
Ende, grande autore de "La storia infinita", qui ne "La notte dei desideri" ci confeziona una storia fantasy ecologica, come cita la copertina. Di solito mi irritano le varie frasi di copertina, le leggo sogghignando, perchè mi paiono sempre ridicole e acchiappaconsensi, però qui ci calza a pennello.
Sulle prime i due si chiesero se non fosse il caso di rivolgersi semplicemente a un passante, ma scartarono ben presto quell'idea: in primo luogo perchè era altamente improbabile che un essere umano normale potesse comprendere il loro miagolare e gracchiare (magari si sarebbe limitato a portarseli via e rinchiuderli in gabbia); in secondo luogo perchè sapevano che ci sono ben poche speranze di successo quando gli animali chiedono aiuto agli uomini. Lo si era visto più che a sufficienza. Perfino quando sarebbe stato nel loro stesso interesse prestare ascolto alle invocazioni d'aiuto della natura, gli uomini erano rimasti sordi. Avevano visto tanti animali piangere lacrime di sangue - e avevano continuato come se nulla fosse.
"Scusa" riprese poi Jacopo sottovoce, "noi facciamo sempre così quando da qualche parte si sta preparando qualcosa di brutto. Perchè noi queste cose ce le sentiamo in anticipo. Io non so ancora cosa ci hanno in testa quei due, ma ci scommetto le mie ultime penne che è un gran umaneria".

"Embè, gran porcheria non si può mica dire perchè i porci non fanno niente di male."

Die Story selbst fand ich jetzt gar nicht mal sooo überragend, aber da dies ja kein Hörbuch sondern ein Hörspiel war, gab es natürlich auch tolle Hintergrundgeräusche bzw. überhaupt passende Soundeffekte, die das Geschehen wunderbar untermalt haben, und engagierte Sprecher:innen, die wirklich alles aus dem Drehbuch rausgeholt haben🤩 Das Zuhören hat super Spaß gemacht!!

Lo rileggo quasi ogni capodanno da quando mi è stato regalato (il 1990?) ed è sempre una bellissima favola.
Un povero gatto e un corvo malandato salvano il mondo dalla malvagità di due maghi con l'aiuto di San Silvestro. L'umanità, ovviamente, è ignara di tutto.
Per certi versi è una fiaba ecologista e sono sempre piacevolmente sorpresa da come il tema del rispetto della natura sia trattato con semplicità. I cattivi di turno devono darsi da fare per completare l'annuale quantità di danni promessa al diavolo, altrimenti saranno pignorati per inadempienza contrattuale. Solo gli animali si rendono conto che c'è davvero qualcosa che non va, che il degrado a cui assistono non può essere normale. Chiedetelo a Jacopo il corvo, che ha perso gran parte delle penne infilandosi in una nube tossica.
Mago e strega, quindi, si danno da fare per creare questo grog di fine anno estremamente potente con cui potranno completare l'elenco di cose da fare - pardon, da danneggiare - entro la mezzanotte. Corvo e gatto, coppia improbabile e scalcinata, si danno altrettanto da fare per impedirlo. Deus ex machina è nientemeno che San Silvestro in persona, anche se sembra più un vecchietto svampito che un santo onnipotente. Fatto sta che l'ordine di Propp viene rispettato e l'aiutante consegna ai protagonisti l'oggetto magico che risolverà il loro viaggio, e tutti vissero felici e contenti.
Considerando che, partendo da Chernobyl (giusto per indicare un grave incidente di poco antecedente la pubblicazione del libro) per arrivare ad oggi, non ci siamo ancora estinti nonostante tutte le schifezze fatte al pianeta, non è poi così improbabile che lo dobbiamo a qualche animaletto più intelligente di noi.

Nicht nur der Titel ist skurril, auch die Handlung zeigt eine witzige und schrullige Note, die sehr viel Spaß gemacht hat!
Der gefräßige und vornehm tuende Kater Maurizio und die zerzauste Krähe Jakob versuchen, den bösen Zauberer Irrwitzer davon abzuhalten, die Umwelt noch mehr zu zerstören. Denn der mit dem Teufel verbundene Zauberer muss sein Soll erfüllen und bis Mitternacht an Silvester noch viel Unheil stiften, was ihm mit dem Wunschpunsch gelingen könnte.
Michael Ende fordert von den Kids hier einiges ab was die Wörter betrifft, denn da gibt es einiges an neuem Wortschatz und Wortkreationen, was ich aber richtig gut finde, da sie dadurch etwas dazu lernen und auch die Sprache als flexibel kennenlernen.
Auch die Zaubersprüche, die in Reimen gehalten sind, haben eine putzige Note und obwohl ich ja Reime/Lieder/Gedichte in Büchern meist nicht mag, waren sie hier äußerst amüsant :)
Die Kapitel beginnen bei 5 Uhr am Nachmittag und enden um 12 Uhr zum Mitternachtsläuten - ebenfalls eine tolle Idee und es richtig Spaß gemacht, das Buch am Silvesterabend zu lesen! Dazu kommen ulkige Dialoge und tolle Zeichnungen, die die Handlung auch optisch noch unterstützen. Eine wichtige Botschaft ist ebenfalls mit im Gepäck und es war ein Vergnügen, Rabe und Katze auf ihrer schwierigen Mission zu begleiten.

October 1, 2024Nettes Kinderbuch, das ich als Kind irgendwie verpasst habe. Finds immer schwer, solche Bücher zu bewerten, da ich’s als Mädchen bestimmt geliebt hätte, während es sich jetzt wie ein 3-Sterne-Buch anfühlt.
Deshalb: Große Empfehlung, wenn ihr Kinder im Grundschulalter habt, das macht bestimmt Spaß und ist auch als Erwachsener gut auszuhalten. Eher ein Silvesterbuch als ein Halloween-/Herbstbuch, aber das wusste ich vorher einfach nicht.

Ani neviem, prečo ma prekvapilo, že je to taká dobrá kniha. Možno preto, že som nikdy nebola fanúšička Nekonečného príbehu. Ale toto má v sebe naozaj všetky prvky dobrej knihy o čaroch, boji dobra a zla, skvelé postavy. A slovenský preklad sa naozaj vydaril.

Da wurden Kindheitserinnerungen wach!
Wenn ich so genau darüber nachdenke, müsste das sogar das allererste richtige Hörbuch sein, was ich jemals gehört habe. So in Retrospektive war ich aber als Kindergartenkind wirklich noch nicht reif genug für die Geschichte. Ich fand den Kater Moritz super, aber ansonsten hab ich damals nicht allzu viel mitgenommen.
Da hab ich jetzt als Erwachsene wahrscheinlich doch mehr Gefallen an dem Buch gefunden.

Maravilloso y entretenido, Michael Ende vuelve a encantarme otra vez y se reafirma como uno de mis autores favoritos 🥰
Que originales son sus historias, y siempre con enseñanzas que te dan para pensar.
Un libro especialmente para niños, pero que llenará tu corazón igualmente si eres adulto.
Totalmente recomendado.

Super süße Geschichte. Perfekt für Oktober, als Halloween-Read. Ich liebe die Geschichten von Michael Ende einfach. Zucker-süße Illustrationen von Regina Kehn. Ich habe das Buch teils gelesen, teils gehört. Das Hörbuch, gelesen von Christoph Maria Herbst ist absolut fantastisch. Kann ich wirklich nur wärmstens empfehlen.

It's been many years since I got this wonderful edition and only bought it because of the funny title and the cute animals on the cover. Nowadays, this edition is a rarety which pleases me.
The story is about New Year's Eve. A certain lazy cat and a slightly mangled raven have uncovered a terribly plot by their wizard and witch and are now trying to stop them in a race against time.
A heartwarming story carried by the wonderfully quirky if sometimes a bit cray-cray Maurizio/Moritz and Jakob. The writing itself is also very good (though I hadn't expected anything else from this author), full of moments that make you chuckle, grin mischieviously, or burst out laughing - while young and old readers alike are taught a lesson or two about being good (like: you don't need to be a hero like Superman, it's often the little deeds that count at least as much).
Throughout the book, we get wonderful illustrations like these:

Четвірочка за книгу та двійочка за читабельний, проте - вкрай лінивий переклад.
Добре, що Віват хоча б розщедрився на ілюстрації з оригінального видання. Але ж саркастичність, відсилочки, текстовий гумор були загублені навіть у віршиках. Де ця витончена Ендівськість? Переклад її просто з’їв.
Книга із нескладним, але захоплюючим сюжетом, годинничками замість позначки розділу та невідповідним настрою книги пафосним відгуком від мене.
Коли зустрічатимете новий 2019-й, читайте саме "вуншпунш", так собі і занотуйте.

Romanzo molto divertente con un corvo e un gattino alle prese con due strampalati e cattivissimi maghi pronti a distruggere il mondo.
La storia è scorrevole, piena di colpi di scena e trovate originali, i capitoli sono divisi grazie al particolarissimo orologio a cucù di Malospirito (invece del solito uccellino, il tempo è scandito da un martello che picchia un dito!!!) e il lieto fine, come per qualsiasi fiaba che si rispetti, è assicurato, ma non date niente per scontato.
Consigliato per i piccini, ma anche per i grandini :))

Süßes Kinderbuch. Irgendwie hab ich mir hier aber ein Highlight erhofft, weil ich die Serie einfach damals geliebt habe. Die Stimme des Hörbuch Lesers war leider auch nur okay. Insgesamt aber trotzdem sehr süß und unterhaltend :)

Herrlich verschroben, aberwitzig, schwarzhumorig und teilweise ordentlich albern. Und genauso liest es Christoph Maria Herbst und gibt dem ganzen eine oder besser gesagt mehrere Stimmen, die zumindest ich beim Selbstlesen nicht geschafft hätte. Unbedingt als Hörbuch zu empfehlen!

Eine großartige Kindergeschichte. Besonders die Vertonung ist so gut gelungen. Selbst als Erwachsener macht das Zuhören Spaß.

Das Elixier
Es ist der letzte Tag des Jahres und der Zauberer Beelzebub Irrwitzer laboriert mal wieder an einem Elixier herum. Da bekommt er Besuch von einem höllisch guten Gerichtsvollzieher, der ihn pfänden wird, wenn er nicht bis Mitternacht sein Pensum an bösen Taten erfüllt. Den Besuch seiner Tante, der Hexe Tyranja Vamperl, kann er eigentlich nicht gebrauchen. In ihrer Not sehen die beiden keine andere Lösung, als einen besonderen Wunschpunsch zu brauen, der ihnen helfen soll, das Böse in die Welt zu bringen. Ihre Haustiere Kater Maurizio und der Rabe Jakob sind die einzigen, die noch etwas unternehmen können.
Ein Hörspiel, für Kinder ab zehn Jahre empfohlen, das sicherlich allen Hörern Freude bereiten kann. An Sylvester wollen die beiden Bösewichter ihren Wunschpunsch zusammenbrauen. So einfach ist das nicht, da Beelzebub und Tyrannja sich nicht besonders grün sind. Zusammenraufen müssen sie sich, denn jeder hat einen Teil des Rezeptes. Vielleicht ist das eine Chance für Jakob und Maurizio, die allerdings auch nicht die besten Freunde sind. Doch die Verhinderung von größerem Unheil kann durchaus ein Grund sein, die Animositäten hintenan zu stellen. Zwei ungleiche Helden, die ausziehen, die Welt zu retten.
Als bestes Hörspiel ist dieses Werk für den Deutschen Hörbuchpreis 2025 nominiert. Ein Grund hier mal zuzuhören, auch wenn man sich für das Genre eigentlich als zu alt empfindet. Und siehe da, man wird richtig gut unterhalten. Sicher, die Bücher von Michael Ende haben wohl jede Jugend begleitet. Und auch hier hat der Autor in seiner Geschichte einige sehr kluge Sätze formuliert. Daneben ist die Handlung kindgerecht und spannend. Unterstrichen wird das Ganze durch die liebenswerte Hörspielproduktion. Sehr süßes Kinderbuch mit tiefengreifenden Fragen über Sinnhaftigkeit und Gut und Böse.
Die Chataktere sind wirklich sehr sehr gut, besonders Katze und Rabe sind mit ihren Stärken und Schwächen wirklich mega! Man fiebert mit, man nimmt ihnen ihre Rollen ab, man verliebt sich sehr schnell in sie! Dabei sind sie durch ihre Schwächen greifbar und bieten Projektionsfläche. Auf der anderen Seite überwinden sie gemeinsam Hindernisse, reflektieren ihr Verhalten und gehen toll mit den Fehlern des anderen um. Auch die Bösewichte sind wirklich süß. Sie sind ein bisschen gruselig, aber nicht zu sehr und sind sehr humoristisch beschrieben.
Das Setting ist toll, atmosphärisch und sehr passend. Die Magie ist relativ einfach aufgebaut und in sich schlüssig. Viele Elemente greifen eng in unsere Welt sodass man sich vieles selbst erklären kann. Dennoch ist die Villa ein eigener, gut begründeter Kosmos, in den man von außen nicht einfach eindringt.
Die Story ist gut erklärt und hat einen klassischen Aufbau, was für eine Kindergeschichte sehr angenehm ist. Gerade die Exposition ist super, aber auch das Finale. Es gibt Twists und auch hier entsteht ein leichter Deus ex machina-Eindruck, aber nicht so sehr, dass es mich wie bei anderen Werken von Ende stört.
Der Schreibstil ist super. Er ist sehr bildhaft und schafft es immer wieder Gesellschaftskritik kinderfreundlich zu verpacken. Die Charaktere funktionieren in weiten Ebenen durch die sehr gute Beschreibung ihrer speziellen Eigenschaften. Auch die Umgebung ist daher glaubwürdig. Ende streut immer wieder Themen wie "Warum gibt es das Böse?", "Kann das Gute ohne das Böse existieren?" und umgekehrt oder "Welche Rolle spielt Geld in unserem System?" Das alles bricht er für Kinder so herunter, dass Antworten geliefert werden, die in einfacher Sprache verpackt sind. Das gelingt ihm außerordentlich gut und ich habe das in der Form so kindgerecht selten gelesen. Leider gefällt mir der transzendentale Aspekt nicht ganz so gut. Zusätzlich koppelt Ende innere und äußere Schöngeit eng aneinander, was durchaus kritisch zu hinterfragen wäre, wenn man das Buch mit Kindern liest. Genauso lassen sich hier sexistische Tendenzen erkennen, in denen die Rolle der Frau doch stark reduziert wird und diese Ansicht dann als weise gilt. Bei den Aspekten kann es leider keine 5 Sterne geben. Sonst wäre es das aber definitiv geworden. Ein spannendes Buch für jung und alt, was die großen Fragen es Lebens aufwirft und kindgerecht nach Antworten sucht.

I have had this book on my to read shelf for a long time. I originally picked it up because it’s by the author of the Neverending Story (which I adore). It ended up being an okay read, but was slow at parts and a bit awkward to read. I think younger readers will enjoy this story more.
The evil sorcerer Beezlebub Preposteror and his equally evil aunt are both behind on their required annual quota of evil deeds. Things start looking better for them when they find a recipe for a potion that can grant wishes in reverse. This would be great because not only can they complete their evil deeds they can also fool the animal spies that live with them. Except they don’t know that the cat and raven that live with them have a sneaky plan of their own to stop them.
There are some wonderful illustrations throughout this book and I enjoyed those. I found the story to be a bit silly and over the top; it’s something I think younger readers will enjoy more than adults. I personally wasn’t a huge fan though...it was okay but not great.
There is a lot in here about friendship and good triumphing over evil. There is also a lot of clever wordplay and some cute poems throughout.
The whole story is very predictable and the characters very stereotypical. It’s a story I think younger readers will enjoy but adults will find a bit boring to get through. I honestly struggled a bit just because I had trouble engaging with the characters and story.

Наскільки розумною може бути дитяча казка? Міхаель Енде цим взагалі не париться: пише загалом простий текст, але не цурається вставляти в нього речі, які діти не здатні будуть оцінити. Наприклад, дає посланцеві пекла ім'я Маледикт - очевидна протилежність Бенедикта.
Було трохи ризиковано купувати цю книгу - текст міг виявитися заскладним для мене. Але мене просто підкорила обкладинка і картинки всередині, тож перед спокусою не встояв.
(Тут можна почати розказувати про те, щоб я не судив книжки за обкладинками, а можна просто робити гарно - і гарно буде.)
І вийшло в підсумку просто чудово: тут досконалий баланс відомих і невідомих слів, тож можна було стежити за сюжетом загалом, час від часу відволікаючись на зазирання до словника, щоб зрозуміти його деталі.
Один із цікавих моментів у тексті зауважив уже під кінець: Мауріціо починає ніби молитися і каже: «Großer Kater Unser im Himmel, hilf uns». Якщо ні наші, ні російські перекладачі в цьому місці не написали «Котче наш...», то це провал.
Наші, до речі, переклали назву повністю - «Диявольськигеніальноалкогольний пунш бажань». З одного боку, це й правильно, з іншого - я б залишив просто «Вуншпунш». Всі ж ми, підлітки двотисячних, дивилися цей мульт по Новому.
Враховуючи, що книгу прочитав в навчальних цілях, буде корисно її перечитати, маючи вже трохи оновлений словниковий запас. Це мало б зайняти вже менше часу, але хтозна. Якщо підійти серйозно і з олівцем в руках, може бути й довше.
Тож перша книга німецькою - зроблено. Радий.

A ogni lettura amo Ende un po' di più. In questo libro racconta una storia più semplice rispetto a La storia infinita o ai racconti di Lo specchio nello specchio, ma lo fa in modo molto efficace con un ironia particolarmente caustica. Il tema principe del racconto è la difesa del Bene attraverso la salvaguardia del pianeta, dunque dell'ambiente e degli animali ma è anche un monito contro l'avidità e lo sfruttamento dell'umanità più povera. I due super cattivi sono una maga della finanza e uno stregone che tramite il suo laboratorio scientifico appesta l'ambiente. Ovviamente il riferimento è alla scienza che non bada alle conseguenze a lungo termine delle proprie scoperte. La lotta contro questi due diavoli di maghi e quindi il futuro del pianeta sarà nelle mani di due scalcagnati animali, un corvo e un gatto. Ende emancipa la figura di questi due animali che tradizionalmente sono legati alla magia nera per farne due perfetti antieroi, che decidono di lottare contro le loro debolezze e le loro paure per un futuro migliore. Si tratta di una favola terribilmente attuale che a trent'anni di distanza dalla sua pubblicazione potrebbe fare da bandiera ai nuovi movimenti dei giovanissimi ambientalisti di questi anni.

This is a childhood book I should've left in the past. We used to listen to the audiobooks on long car rides to Sweden so I had a lot of nostalgia attached to this story. I still like the general premise, unlikely animal partners having to stop evil magicians on New Year's Eve, but the execution...less so. It's very info-dumpy at parts which, as an adult, I found very annoying. My biggest "oh yikes" however, is the blatant fatphobia. Can we stop making villains fat as a sign of their evilness, please? Needless to say, I am not going to reread this, but I'm glad I had the chance to reflect on the kind of tropes used in the literature I read when I was younger. Because again, big fucking yikes.

December 31, 2024Ende 2024: Habs wieder als Hörspiel gehört, aber mochte die Version echt gerne. War sehr cute.
Ende 2023: Diesmal habe ich es als Hörspiel gehört, was mir leider gar nicht gefallen hat, die Stimmen und Änderungen waren einfach nur komisch. Aber inhaltlich war es trotzdem schön.
Ende 2022: Ich will das Buch jetzt immer am letzten Tag des Jahres lesen, also an Silvester, wo es auch spielt.
Anfang 2022: Der perfekte Start in neues Jahr. Das Buch ist einfach witzig und niedlich und topaktuell.
Zum ersten Mal habe ich das Buch als Kind gelesen, so ca. 2005. Mir hatte es gut gefallen, aber nicht so sehr bewegt wie Momo oder Die Unendliche Geschichte.

In der Grundschule wurde uns das Buch vor fast 30 Jahren durch unsere Lehrerin vorgelesen. Ich hatte es immer in guter Erinnerung, aber danach nie mehr gelesen (oder gehört).
Ich freue ich mich, dieses Kinderbuch (für mich) wiederentdeckt und gelesen zu haben, weil es lauter Anspielungen für Erwachsene beinhaltet: Der "Buchnörgele" ein Geist, der Marcel Reich-Ranicki nachempfunden ist. Eine Injektion, die abgekürzt LSD heißt usw. Die Geschichte ist witzig und abwechslungsreich und eignet sich zum vorlesen oder selbstlesen für jung und alt.

Ein Highlight zum Jahresende: Ich habe die Geschichte zum ersten Mal gelesen, bestimmt aber nicht zum letzten Mal. Da ich mir Kinderbücher lieber vorlesen lasse, habe ich noch zusätzlich zum Hörbuch (gelesen von Christoph Maria Herbst) gegriffen. Es war ein reiner Genuss und obwohl die Geschichte schon einige Jahre auf dem Buckel hat, ist sie aktueller denn je. Kann ich uneingeschränkt empfehlen.
