Melanie The Basics provides an accessible and concise introduction to the life and work of Melanie Klein, whose discoveries advanced those of Freud and other analysts, deepening our insight into the unconscious domain of psychology in human beings. Klein began her work by developing a method of psychoanalysis for children, who suffer from anxiety and other, often unrecognised, conflicts, which enabled understanding of those crucial early steps in the development of human mind and identity. Part I introduces Melanie Klein in the context of her life, her early interest in psychoanalysis and her first discoveries; Part II takes up the development of her technique of child analysis and discusses the ways in which her insights and conclusions in this area influenced the technique of adult analysis and the more general understanding of the human mind; Part III focuses on further scientific and clinical developments in psychoanalytic technique – especially those referring to the understanding and treatment of serious emotional disturbance, e.g. psychosis or affective disorders; Part IV focuses on contemporary developments in Kleinian and post-Kleinian psychoanalysis, considering clinical, cultural, and socio-political applications. Each chapter poses a basic question at the outset, provides an account of how Klein faced this question and worked with it to develop her ideas, and ends by posing a follow up question to be addressed in the subsequent chapter.



This book will greatly appeal to readers from any field seeking a clear and concise introduction to Melanie Klein. It will also interest researchers and professionals working within the field of psychoanalysis seeking a succinct overview of Melanie Klein’s contribution.

Robert D Hinshelwood is Professor of Psychoanalytic Studies at the University of Essex in England. He has written numerous books and papers on the subject of Psychoanalysis, as well as on its history, and has a particular interest in group dynamics.

خیلی دوست داشتم یک ریویوی مفصل در مورد کتاب بنویسم، اما فکر کنم باید به همین چند خط مختصر و نابسنده، اکتفا کنم. نمی‌دونم چرا دستم به نوشتن نمی‌ره دیگه.

پروفسور هینشلوود و توماس فرچونا، در این کتاب به بیان ایده‌های ملانی کلاین می‌پردازند. این کتاب بین تجربیات محدودی که داشتم، احتمالاً بهترین شروع برای فهم نظریه‌ی کلاین و جهان روابط موضوعی (object relations) است. نویسندگان با دیدی تاریخی، ابتدا به مسیر رشد کلاین و زندگینامه‌ی او می‌پردازند و با پیش‌روی بر روی خط زمان، نحوه‌ی بالیده شدن و گسترش نظریه‌اش را توضیح می‌دهند. این روایت تاریخ‌مند، یک مزیت نسبی جدی این کتاب نسبت به کتاب‌های دیگرست. مثلاً فهم این مطلب که ایجاد موقعیت افسرده‌وار، مقدم بر ایجاد موقعیت پارانوئید اسکیزوئید، در نظام کلاینی بوده است، مطلبی است که در فهم عمیق نسبت به نظریه‌ی کلاین بسیار مهم می‌باشد.

کتاب به ۴ بخش که به ۲۱ فصل تقسیم می‌شود. در بخش ابتدایی، بیشتر با توجه به زندگینامه‌ی کلاین، نحوه‌ی آشنایی او با روانکاوی و شروع تحلیل با فرنتسی و پیگیری تحلیل با آبراهام را توضیح می‌دهد. در دو بخش بعدی، بنیان‌های اصلی نظریه‌ی کلاین توضیح داده می‌شود. این که چه‌طور مفهوم رشک (envy) پوزیشن‌های روانی، فانتزی، دوپاره‌سازی و همانند‌سازی برون‌فکنانه (PI) در نظریه‌ی کلاین صورت‌بندی و توضیح داده می‌شود. نویسندگان در طول کتاب، نیم نگاهی به سرنوشت این مفاهیم، پس از کلاین و در آثار دیگر نویسندگان، هم دارند و به فراخور، به آن اشاره می‌کنند. روزنفلد، وینیکات، سیگال و... چه‌طور با این مفاهیم برخورد کردند؟ بخش چهارم کتاب، به طور کلی معطوف به همین مطلب است.‌ هینشلوود که خودش یک بیونین است، توضیح می‌دهد که میراث کلاین چه‌طور در روانکاوی توسط دیگر افراد ادامه پیدا کرد.

در مورد ترجمه، مترجم عبارت ریشه‌ها و اندیشه‌ها را ترجیح داده است. برای من ایرادهای پرشمار ویراستاری کتاب هم جای تعجب داشت. امیدوارم در چاپ‌های بعدی، این اشتباهات هم اصلاح شوند.

A simple introduction, with common language, but would recommend a general understanding of Freud first, as Klein branched off, and therefore one needs to know the original structure.

I feel as though the chapters are far too short, where sometimes terms feel claustrophobic, with not enough room to breathe. While Klein's "free play" gets quite a lot of attention, certain other topics might feel anemic. For example, object relations theory, or the paranoid-schizoid state, or the difference between Freud's sublimation and Klein's substitution, a slight but, to me, important discrepancy.

Definitely the starting point but certainly not an ending point, so I would only recommend if you plan on continuing into her work. It is only an appetizer.

اگر به روابط ابژه علاقه دارید این کتاب مقدماتی خوبیه رسماً سطح صفره نویسنده آقای هینشلوود کلاینی معتبر کتاب درمورد اندیشه های کلاین زیاد نوشته است تو این کتابم تو سه بخش از پایه مفاهیم توضیح میده توضیحاتش خیلی پایه مقدماتی عه ترجمه‌اش خوبه قابل قبول
