Graduated in Catalan Philology by the University of Barcelona, high-school professor in leave of absence and teacher to the University of Lleida, member of the Philological Section of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans.
During many years he has combined literary writing with teaching. He has also worked in the television and cinematographic scripting. With Joaquim Maria Puyal he was the creator and scriptwriter of the first Catalan television series: La Granja (1989-1992), after which followed other titles like Estació d'Enllaç (1994-1998), Crims (2000) and the tvmovies La dama blanca (1987), Nines russes (2003) and Sara (2003). He has also written, together with Jaume Fuster, Vicenç Villatoro and Antoni Verdaguer, the script of the Antoni Verdaguer's films La teranyina (1990), based on his novel, and Havanera (1993).

Reflexiones de un gran maestro: como detalla la magia de la escritura, como cuenta que su método es simplemente dejarse llevar por la escritura y, con los años (sí, porque escribe sin prisa), todo encaja.
Quizás los tiempos hayan cambiado. Ya no podemos permitirnos vivir (y escribir) sin prisa.
Jaume Cabré es un escritorazo. Recuerdo muy bien a mi profesora en el Ateneu Barcelonés, no se quitaba a este hombre de la boca salvo para fumarse un cigarrillo. Cometí el error de pasar años sin leerle. Escribe en catalán, pero gran parte de sus obras están traducidas al castellano.
Es una pena sin embargo que este tesoro, El sentit de la ficció, solo esté en catalán (para aquellas personas que no lo habléis), ya que sus páginas son una perla detrás de otra.

El plaer de la lectura em va portar a l’escriptura. Un escriptor no pot deixar mai de ser lector. Recordar la lectura i comprovar el plaer de la relectura. Saber-se atrapat per la màgia.

Més inspirador que sistemàtic: irregular però útil si t’interessa el procés d’escriure.
