The War Hero is based on a true event during India - Pakistan war. the main protagonist of the story is Prabhakar who was an Air Force pilot. On the third day of the Indo-Pak conflict in 1971, he was to embark on a specific mission. The mission was successful. After which his aircraft caught fire and he had to land on enemy territory.

The narration of the story is good. The novel's protagonist is shown as a composed and determined soldier. The book's title is accurate, and the language is clear. With equal tenacity and composure, he overcame every obstacle, be it suffering, starvation, or anything else. His determination to return to his loved ones may be seen in how he planned and completed his goals, as well as his struggles for survival. The fear and insecurities of his family are captured well.  It would have done better if it had been edited properly. Overall a decent read.

You might like to wander through a few artistic journals — they’re full of sparks and surprises.

"Indian Army"
🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
— When we utter these two words, our heads get down with respect and gratitude to their sacrifice and nobility. From the icy terrain of Himalaya to the scorching heat of desert, they guard us as their family all day and night without complaining.

From the dawn of our independence, they keep us guarding from the intruders, terrorists and other external attacks. Since 1947, we have faced three major wars and in each case, even in worst condition, we have snatched victory from enemies with the help of our powerful, devotional and extremely talented Indian Army.

Similarly this is a story about dedicated air force officer who was even ready to sacrifice his own life to execute the task assigned to him during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

In the story we find that Flight Lieutenant Prabhakar, a fighter aircraft pilot, was posted to one of the border Air Force Flying Squadrons while the border tension between India and Pakistan started and finally culminated into full-fledged war. On 3rd December 1971 the war broke out. On the following day, a team of twelve aircraft of his squadron went to the enemy territory and caused heavy damage, but their Squadron Commander did not return back. Without showing any sign of mental disturbance, on the following day Prabhakar proceeded to the enemy territory with specific tasks to cause maximum damage and cripple the enemy. While performing the operations, he had to reduce the altitude and came in the range of anti-aircraft guns fire. Even after knowing that his aircraft was on fire, he stayed over the enemy territory and completed the job till he was fully satisfied and bailed out in the thick forest of the enemy territory.
And the only question which arises in our mind is that......
" WHAT HAPPENS THEN!!!?"

And to know that my dear friend ;)
U have to grab a ecopy urself!!!

Go get a copy & know the insecurities that a pilot goes through!! The sacrifices they make to keep us all protected!!! The challenges they face!!!

"Happiness is a condition that is to be developed by each individual"

The book War Hero is partially based on a true story of the indo-pak war of 1971.
This book has a total of 32 chapters. The chapters are too big but they are intresting as well like at start it was a lil boring but as the book countinues one develops interest and becomes attracted towards it.
The main character is Prabhakar who's a flight lieutenant. He had a mission to take on the third day of the war in which he was successful and he had to land his aircraft in the enemie's territory because it caught fire.

I never imagined that I would like to read stuff like this but it was def a good read. Few grammatical and sentence formation errors were there but it didn't disappoint me. I was able to understand the story and know what this book was speaking.

War. What happens in a war? How is it for the soldiers fighting in the war? These questions cross our mind the moment we say the word, ‘War’. The book, War Hero by Retired Wing Commander M.K Devidasan is the answer to all your recurring questions.

So, what’s the book about?

It is a story of Flight Lieutenant Prabhakar of the Indian Air Force during the Indo-Pak War of 1971. While carrying out a mission, his plane catches fire and he has to land in the enemy territory. The mere thought of this gives us shudders, doesn’t it? What happens with Prabhakar that is altogether unimaginable. Captured by the enemy, tortured mercilessly, escaping from the bunker, his trek back to India and then facing problems back home, this book is an untold depiction of what our soldiers face in times of war.

The thing that I most admired in the book was the character of Prabhakar. The calmness and the control of his own mind throughout the story is something to be commended. He crossed every hurdle, be it torture or hunger or anything else with equal determination and calm. How he planned and achieved his goals, his struggles for survival, all of it shows his will power to return to his loved ones. Prabhakar is a powerful depiction of our soldiers with their undying love for their country. How hard they work for protecting us. How hard their minds work to overcome problems we can only imagine. The book gives an untold insight of the Air Force and its working.

I loved the storyline and how it was presented. The narration was good; I could see the story in front of my eyes. Character presentation was excellent. The book would have done better if it was edited properly as there were many grammatical errors.

One thing that can be said for sure about this book is, it will instil a sense of pride for your country and its soldiers in you.

Introduction:
"War Hero" by M. K. Davidasan brings us a story from the heart of our country's defence forces. Set during the Indo-Pak War of 1971, the book takes the reader on a journey alongside Flight Lieutenant Prabhakar, as he tries to return home to his loved ones. The author, being a former wing commander and serving the air force for 32 years, brings out his personal experiences in places throughout the book. The reader is introduced to various codes of conduct observed in the air force, which speak to the discipline of the armed forces.

About the book:
The story is a balance between the perseverance of a soldier during wartime and the simplicity of life outside of it. The author does a really good job of establishing Prabhakar's character and position in the story before we come across the extreme hardships that he has to face. The connection is such that we are on the edge of our seats through certain chapters, praying for him to overcome the circumstances. Besides the overall narrative of a thriller which grips the reader till the end, the book throws light on a lot of issues people faced at the time of war. The reader can sympathise with the characters as they try to navigate through life in the shadow of war-shadowed normalcy.
The topic of patriotism is given in a book about the armed forces. The soldiers' sense of duty and enthusiasm reassures the reader about the capability of our armed forces. Spirituality and faith are huge companions of Prabhakar at the time of distress that many readers can also relate to. This makes us root for him harder and pray for his safe return.

The good:
The book reminds the contemporary reader that war doesn’t do anyone, any good. It’s imperative that we prevail our humanity before we are segregated by nations. The book throws light on the ordinary lives that the soldiers lead, when they are not out defending the nation. It makes them more relatable to the reader.

The not so good:
There are a lot of grammatical and syntactic errors in the book. We come across many awkward sentences and stilted conversations that make little sense sometimes. A few themes in the book don't resonate well, like too much importance given to status and position in society. In numerous instances, women are shunned as problematic, even in their presence. Misogynist comments are thrown around casually without anyone acknowledging the sexist premise of the situation. A few scenes in particular turn the blame and responsibility on women, even for the ill-doing of their male counterparts. Given that the book is a thriller about the armed forces, some trigger warnings in the beginning would've been appreciated so as not to alarm anyone.

Verdict:
In conclusion, there is a lot the reader can learn from the book, if not about the air force, then about life itself. The pacing of the story holds the reader's attention till the end. Staying true to the genre of thriller, the story does a really good job of keeping the reader guessing about Prabhakar's fate throughout the book.

The book " WAR HERO " is written by M.K Devidasan. The book has a total of Thirty-Two chapters. The book is based on true events. This is the story of an Air Force pilot named, Prabhakar, who was detailed to undertake a particular mission on the third day of the Indo-Pak war, 1971. The mission was successfully completed and while returning from the enemy territory, he wanted to make sure that everything was perfect and he flew very low, which led the anti-aircrafts guns of the enemies to do their job. He had to land in the enemy territory, which would have been terrifying. He was caught by the enemies and was tortured, humiliated. This book shows the hardships that a soldier has to go through.
Will he be able to return safely?
How will his family react to the news of him being missing?
Even after reaching his homeland, will he be able to reach his family with ease?
The protagonist of the novel was portrayed to be a very calm and determined soldier. The title of the book is apt and the language is lucid.
The real-time conversations of the soldiers kept me involved. I ended up finishing the book in one go. I am really proud to say that our soldiers are very strong-willed and courageous. I got goosebumps while imagining all the struggle and torture he had to face in order to reach his homeland. The book made me realize that I am grateful to be protected by soldiers like Prabhakar and my respect for them has raised a lot. The book gives us a glimpse of how the actual Air Force works.

"On the battlefield, the military pledges to leave no soldier behind. As a nation, let we pledge that when they return home, we leave no veteran behind." - Dan Lipinski

🇮🇳🇮🇳

The story is revolving around - Flight Lieutenant Prabhakar, an ace pilot, who was detailed to undertake a certain mission on the third day of the Indo-Pak war, 1971. On the following day, a team of twelve aircraft went to the enemy territory, but their Squadron Commander did not return.

When Flight Lieutenant Prabhakar's aircraft came within the range of anti-aircraft guns, the enemies did their job well. He was hit and while the tail was on fire, he continued with his mission and completed the assigned tasks. When he was sure that further flying would entail an explosion, he bailed out and landed up in a jungle. From then on, his struggle to escape from the enemy territory commenced. What's next? Do you think he will survive in the enemy camp?

Writing has always been a hobby for M K Devidasan. However, it was not always something he thought he could make a living with. After retiring from the Indian Air Force as a Wing Commander serving 32 years, he realized he has something valuable to share with the world and turned to writing full time. Since turning his passion into a profession, M K Devidasan has written prolifically and is constantly exploring new themes, genres, and ideas.

Coming back to the book, it is very inspirational and it's a MUST READ for every Indian. JAI HIND 🇮🇳🇮🇳

The story evolves around a flight lieutenant named Prabhakar. Set during Indo-Pak conflict in 1971, the protagonist has to embark on the third day of the mission. Although the mission gets successful, but Prabhakar's aircraft catches fire and lands in an enemy territory. Will Prabhakar be rescued? Is he going to survive amidst the enemy's deck? Will he ever see the light of his home?

Capturing a real life story, Devidasan explores the hardships a soldier goes through. The book is lucid with the flow, tracing the real-life conversation between the soldiers. Prabhakar's determination to return to his homeland by surviving all the obstacles in the way, is commendable. The struggles of his survival seems harsh but rewarded at the end of the story. The book is so engaging that a person will complete in one-two sitting. Recommended.

"IN A WORLD FULL OF POP HEROES, FANTASY HEROES, AND SPORTS HEROES, WE SHOULD NEVER FORGET TO LOOK TO THE REAL HEROES FOR REAL COURAGE, REAL STRENGTH, AND REAL STORIES."

I've always considered Soldiers as the real heroes whose dedication & discipline has always inspired me. I think if we could be even a percentage of what they are, it would a big deal. Hats off to their strength to persevere and endure inspite of the overwhelming obstacles.

𝚆𝙰𝚁 𝙷𝙴𝚁𝙾 is a story of an extremely dedicated air force officer, Flight Lieutenant Prabhakar, who was ready to do whatever it took him to execute the task assigned to him during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, even if that meant sacrificing his life by going into the enemy territory.

Written by M K Devidasan who himself has served the Indian Air Force for thirty-two years and retired as a wing commander, this story shows with much accuracy & detail the life of a fighter aircraft pilot who
struggles to escape from the clutches of the enemy after his aircraft caught fire and he found himself in their territory.

Read this book to know about his journey towards his nation, his family and his newly married beloved wife, who is been reported that he was missing in war.

I highly recommend this book to everyone!!
