The Foresters: A Poem Descriptive of a Pedestrian Journey to the Falls of Niagara

Rate this book
A lyrical voyage along forests, lakes, and falls, told in a restless, reflective voice.

This poetry collection presents a pedestrian journey through wild landscapes, from wooded hills to great waters near Niagara. It blends vivid natural scenes with frontier life, capturing danger, exertion, and awe in equal measure. The book invites readers to feel the wind, hear the waters, and sense the pull of a road that leads toward one of America’s legendary falls.

- Vivid landscapes and waterways, including mountain passes, lakes, and river marshes, described with careful observation.
- Encounters with wildlife and the rhythms of life on the edge of civilization, from bears to birds to distant echoes of distant camps.
- A blend of travelogue, lyric meditation, and historical notes that ground the poems in a specific place and era.
- Reflections on art, nature, and the limits of human achievement in the face of epic scenery.

Ideal for readers who love nature writing, travel poetry, and historical wilderness journeys.
