A good reference for American herp keepers but probably not so useful for Australians, as most of the species are unavailable here.

This book is divided into three main parts:
I. The Basic Care of Reptiles and Amphibians
II. Amphibians
III. Reptiles.

Part I provides information on the general housing and feeding of herps, as well as specific information. Part II and III detail the care of herps, with a chapter for frogs and toads, salamanders, turtles, lizards, and snakes. These sections supply information on the biology, anatomy, and associated health problems of each group. It also yields information on tasks such as nail clipping.

At the end of each chapter are species descriptions for many of the most commonly kept species. These profiles include information on the biology, housing, feeding, and breeding of each species.
