The girl in red made her way through the woods, and a wolf followed...
Daphne is angry. Furious. Enraged. Desperate. Granny Rousseau is missing, along with Daphne's fosterling, Grayson.
She's got a pretty good idea who has them, and there will be hell to pay when she gets them back. In fact, Daphne's already begun handing out justice in her own way.
Ronan knows better than to try to stand in her way, but Daphne's reckless actions are going to put them all in danger if he doesn't. As the alpha, it's his duty to protect the pack's allies, and his wolf's duty to protect his mate - even if she won't accept him.
***Excerpt***
"You know the only fate I believe in?" Daphne asked as she climbed into her saddle.
Ronan had to suppress a growl as her skirt slid up over her knee. "What?"
"The one I make for myself. I believe in options. I'm not a piece of meat or a tree for some mutt to piss on, marking its territory. And didn't you just tell me that these woods are full of gorgeous wolf-men, exactly like you?"
He didn't answer. Couldn't answer.
Daphne raised her eyebrow and gave him a little half smile. "So, why should I choose you?"
This is book 5 of Frisky Fairy Tales series, and it is a great retelling of a classic fairytale. Whilst it can be read as a standalone story, if you've read the Beauty and the Beast mini-series (which makes up books 1-4), you'll get a lot more out of it as there's lots of crossover references with characters and events. There are graphic adult scenes in this book, so be prepared for them, though you can skip over them if you want. This was a gripping read which I loved and highly recommend, and I really am glad that Daphne got her own story as she's a really kicka$$ woman (as well as enchantress), and deserved to be in the spotlight as well as Belle, who she's always in the shadow of (a feeling I know only too well!). Thank you Nikki for giving her that highlight! I hope the other books in this series of fairytale retellings are as good, and really hope we see more of Daphne, Ronan and their pack too!
I don’t think have managed to put any of these books down since I found them...which has resulted in finishing them all in record time. I highly anticipate each new release, and Nikki Dean does not disappoint. It’s a wonderful twist on a very popular fairytale, with well-written characters and a wonderful world with plenty of magic and desire. I love how each book is connected to the other and lead into other fairytales that I loved as a child...but have a steamy adult twist. Can’t wait to read more!
I was so obsessed with this author's Beauty and the Beast series that I bought the next book in the series which is Loosely based off Red Riding Hood. I devoured this book like I did the rest of the series! It was good seeing some of the old characters in this book again!
This story is about the relationship of Ronan and the Daphne. Oh boy where to start with their relationship. They met off scenes in the Beauty and the Beast series, and this book is basically is with them learning about where their relationship may lead them. There is some very steamy scenes that will leave you wanting more. The wolf would have to prove that Daphne is his mate whether she wants to admit it to herself or not. It was just so fun with these two. When I was at the end of the Beauty and the Beast series, I was completely enthralled by Ronan . I was absolutely thrilled that the next book was going to be about Tim and Daphne. They even had a couple of hilarious moments together and a couple of heartwarming ones.
I was surprised when ( which I'm not going to spoil) an old enemy came back. But, this author's tale absolutely gripped me from beginning to end.
Overall okay read. The beginning didn't read as smoothly as the B&B books, some conversations felt repetitive but it picked up around 40% part of the story. More action after that and it was easier to read it at my regular speed. The ending and action scenes are why I'm gonna read the LM books as well. I just hope the start isn't as slow as this book.
I really enjoy Nikki's writing - having loved her first Beauty and the Beast retelling. Ronan and Daphne do not dissappoint and I really enjoyed the writing with a bit of a sarcastic and humorous twist. Well done and looking forward to the next one.
It was a continuation of the Beauty and the Beast series but on Daphne and Ronan. It's a fun read but make sure you mind is willing to go to fairy tales.
Her books don't disappoint and Little Red Riding Hood didn't either. I gave four instead of five stars simply for a handful of typos. This book is great otherwise and really wish I could add another half star.
It makes me sad to be glad this series is over (at least from the ones I own)… this was just not great. Idk if it’s the writing style, the speed, or what but it didn’t keep my attention well.
Not as much like the little red story from my childhood but still awesome! I love these “grownup” fairytales. Very interesting and definitely worth reading.
I’m so excited to see what Daphne’s gotten herself into with Ronan, but I want more. I need I know what’s going on with Grayson and what the evil fairy has in store!!
