Haunted by the mysterious noises and screams coming from the apartment upstairs, home to world-famous cardiac surgeon Dr. Malik and his family, a pregnant Emma confides her concerns to a friend, making Dr. Malik the target of an investigation and causing Emma to fear for her life as she prepares to deliver her new baby.
This was the first book I have read by this author & it was a steady paced action book. However, the ending felt like it was rushed. I enjoyed the storyline still & will be reading more by this author.
Oh this book was terrible. So so terrible. The plot, the characters, the ending, the descriptions. Excruciatingly boring until the last 6 pages-then she tried to pack everything in and resolve every far-fetched situation she put the characters through. It didn’t work. If I could give this book zero stars, I would.
It was good, not great. I was surprised at the end by the evil Doctor's secret, but not amazed. I think the wrap-up was surprisingly quick and therefore not very suspenseful. Also, I felt Emma was kind of weak. But I liked her friends.
I give no stars to the first half of this book. I almost put it down to never be read because it was boring and going nowhere fast. However, the rest of the book was excellent so thankfully, because I am stubborn, I finished the book.
It's very telling that I enjoyed this book, but by the time I got around to writing this blurb less than 2 weeks later, I couldn't even remember the plot. This isn't one of Judith Kelman's finest.
This was a quick read for me. I liked the pace of the story and the characters. I had figured out some of the mystery part way through but it was still intriguing.
