The papers dubbed beautiful Thea Harper Westport a Black Widow. They said she lured Senator Simon Gallatin to her home for a night of deadly passion. But psychiatrists insisted it was a short circuit of the mind, a rare seizure disorder, that had unleashed Thea's murderous rage. Now, even after the trial, the gruesome testimony of detectives and forensic specialists, Thea can't remember the terrifying moment when she struck Simon down . . . only its hideous the torrent of blood, the broken corpse, the cold steel bite of the handcuffs as the police led her away. After six months in a posh Connecticut mental hospital, Thea is back home with her daughter, eager to make a new start. If only the community would let her forget . . . if only the chief of police wasn't after her . . . if only the senator's mother wasn't vowing revenge. And if only Thea could be sure she's really been cured. For soon the killing begins again. And once more Thea can't remember . . . even when she wakes up with her hands stained with blood.
It was the novel, the house on the hill, that first captured my interest in Judith Kelman. I then read If I should die and now one last kiss. Instead of commenting solely on this novel, I will instead comment on Judith Kelman and her writing style. I would not say captivating is the right word to use. Judith is a pleasant writer. Her novels are above average, and her charactisation is good. It has become clear that over 3 books she has a routined pace with a rushed feeling towards the end of her novels. If you wish to read a basic 'who done it' mystery then this is for you. You don't have to be a genius to work out the plot, but her books are a pleasant read. If you are after a dark, intence read, look elsewhere. Judith writes from the heart and she is an above average novelist. I am getting the impression all her books will bevery similar in pace and structure. I will read one more to see if i'm right. I have been wrong before!
I just couldn't connect with any of the characters. It's as if every one of them annoyed me. There were some scenarios that I honestly didn't see a reason why they were included.
When I pick is book up, I don't think I would like but I surpised much I enjoyed it but I don't love it. Both the writing and paced of plot was okay but the plot nedded to flash out more. The cover of book was ugly. The chraters needed to be flash out more but I like daughter and mother relationship between Thea and her daughter.
The story was good but I didn't think the writing was great. The author used some annoying language and left some things up in the air. Since this is a first time author for me, I will give her another try.
