...that the Zimmerman twins, Ginger and Cinnamon, are the hot hair-stylists in Santa Bonita. Do it up salon rules: we never ever slap the bride. What is said at do it up stays at do it up. P245. I might not believe in fairytales endings, but I did believe the importance of these ceremonies and what they represented. I understood why a woman and a man would feel compelled to stand in front of your friends, your family, and their community and declare themselves a united front against the world. I understood that it also might not mean anything when a man and a woman didn’t make that declaration in front of everyone; sometimes what happened between two people was enough.. I understood that making that public commitment meant nothing without the private commitment .
This was a book that I started reading at lunch while I was at work, and when I came home I could not put it down. I literally stayed up until 12:30 am to finish reading this tale. At first I thought a lot of the plot lines that were happening to Ginger and Cinnamon were very easy to decipher - namely who was Sage's (Cinnamon's daughter) dad (EASY ONE!) But then there were the plot twists and turns to other not-so-main characters that I never saw coming, and it was that reason that the story stayed so fresh. I will definitely be trying other Eileen Rendahl books after reading this one. And PS - not your typical wedding chick lit, so don't let the title and the cover fool you!
I liked it, it was not just typical chicklit but also a little mystery within that had to be solved. I especially liked how the author has all the little town Santa Bonita woven into the story. It was great to read about the secrets of the people living there and how they came out. The spicy names of the girls were funny, but I couldn't handle Ginger so well. I had the feeling she was a bitching-about-others, looking-for-her-best and partly ignorant (the part about the chicken and pigs) girl. I could have identified myself a lot better with her twin Cinnamon, even if I don't believe a bit in astrology ;)
I enjoyed this story of small-town sisters, their business, and their personal lives. Light novels was pretty much all I could handle while getting used to Danny, and the family issues made this one especially appealing.
