Pinto Has An Idea

Rate this book
Young Pinto has from his childhood been an out-of-the box thinker, finding solutions in his everyday surroundings to a myriad ancient global problems. A certain machine he invents in his childhood makes him a hero in his village but it's not sufficient to change the mindset of naysayers for Pinto to pursue his career in hardcore science.

Pinto Has an Idea is the tale of Dr Pinto, a small-town boy, an IITian and a scientist working in MIT, who suddenly experiences a life-changing revelation in the early days of his research, throwing away his work on theoretical physics and setting out to solve the practical everyday problems of the world he lives in.

Returning to his native India, he finds his noble quest beset by unexpected adversaries, obstacles and trials, but emerges triumphant from each battle.

Pinto does not like to appear a romantic person, and keeps women at bay. But when Lavanya returns to haunt his life, and eventually shoe-horns him into marriage, he obligingly falls in love. Because Lavanya is not just a pretty face, she's his partner in research. And Pinto, a newbie in romance, discovers a whole new craze.

But life takes directions never aimed for. Pinto is on the road to becoming rich and famous. He invents a mechanism to eradicate corruption in the land, and in that process moves towards politics. That impinges on the couple's relationship so severely that Lavanya disappears suddenly without telling Pinto. Why does she leave their child with Pinto? Will he lose his greatest 'idea', Lavanya, and thereby, himself? Sure, Pinto's ideas bring dramatic changes to society. But how much romance can a scientist handle as well?

Rajeev Saxena, in his debut novel, shows you just how much.

The book is a little longer than expected but it's worth the time you invest in reading it! Pinto or Rajat Srivastava has always an idea and this 'idea' to me works as a metaphor - a metaphor for the zeal and energy to do something. And that's not only Pinto's idea, it's the idea of all the right thinking people who wish to make some constructive change in the society we live in. Pinto's electricity idea, his Paropkar idea, his SMtrex idea or others... everything written by Rajeev in his very debut novel tells us, in a fictitious way that we can always make the way; we just need to think and think better!
Pinto has an Idea is a wonderful first novel by the author which can be enjoyed by readers from various sections! I loud such an attempt! Nice job.

Pinto has an idea by Rajeev Saxena is really a wonderful novel that deals with excitement and enthusiasm of Pintu to do something greater in his life. An engineer by profession turns to be a man who in the pursuit of achieving something greater. Sometimes finds himself in love and lost too. These types of twist and turn in the novel make it even better. I loved reading this novel.

After a long time I read a book that is not just a love story. "Pinto Has an Idea" - the title is speaking all!

From the beginning the character of "Pintu" is well picturized. The author created the character of 'Pinto' with all his efforts.

This book not only describes the story of a curious boy, how he become extraordinary through struggle but a lot more!

The author pointed out the problems of our country (society) and its norms with proper description. All the points are well researched!

And not only the problems but the author described its solutions also in a very good manner. The author used lots of examples and stories to make the readers understand every point properly and it made the description more logical. The storytelling process is just extraordinary!

The book can make the readers think and had given lots of question and the scenario of our society.

The cover is totally appropriate.

The language is simple and easy to understand.

Really it's an amazing work by the author Rajeev Saxena!

Rajat Srivastava is a scientist of world renown. People call him Pinto and that’s the name he prefers to go by. Right from his childhood, Pinto displayed a streak of brilliance every now and then which always set him apart from others. A problem solver by nature, he never shies away from innovating stuff that can be of use to others. This is one of his main traits where the fear of failure never deters him from trying something new. Being of a very sharp mind, Pinto almost never lets his mind rest and as soon as he is successful in implementing one idea, he immediately moves on to solve another problem. Pinto’s unwavering focus on his ideas and innovations often leave little room for other things. He doesn’t have a romantic disposition. Not in the least. Reading about Pinto as a character gave me mixed feelings. He is both endearing and annoying from time to time. A focused person has an admirable quality of being hardworking but this often comes with the habit of being stubborn. In this way, Pinto’s character was far from perfect which made him real.

A scientist can be a jack of all trade. Rajat is one of them. Is science answer to all our questions?

Rajat Srivastava aka Pinto (Short of Pintoo) is a scientist, politician, social worker, husband and father. He is brilliant from birth and despite studying in small towns like Orai he has keen knowledge of science. He goes to USA and then come back. Why? To serve the motherland. He does inventions for business and social service both. Then he is appalled by the corruption and starts a party. His wife doesn’t like it. What happens next?

The book is written in plain and simple English. This reads like a series of disjointed incidents. It has some good insights like

“Education is good but also make you coward”.

“Make point system for VVIPs. Reward and punishment should be proportionate.” (It has a wrong assumption that all VVIPs will be tried for crimes in future.)

It was a plain story and had jerky narrative. I was taken through a variety of things and it has no settled narrative. There is a clear shade of Arvind Kejriwal and Anna Hazre combined in Pinto. But that is the case of too little too late. 3/ 5 stars.

Pinto Has An Idea by Rajeev Saxena is an fictional tale, about pinto he was risen up from Little Village where he is more famous with his invention in small age therefore story rotates where he achieves manything and also decides to dedicate his vision and knowledge to society where he grown up.

As of story it is inspiring and innovative as the character Punto. The love, political revolution which makes more interesting and also somewhere felt as detailed description would given the continuous flow. The 272 pages has been reflecting the new ideas, thoughts, visionary and way to missionary.

The language is clear and lucid. I liked the cover which represents the human where upper half face of a man was covered with machine parts and another normal human face which reflects Pinto's character and mild background colour in cover makes it more beautiful.

Pinto Has An Idea is more interesting, intriguing in same time new and refreshing read. Where this novel is change for reading ordinary love stories.

Pinto has an idea by Rajeev Saxena is a story of Pinto who wants to help people. He is a scientist, Social worker may be a politician. The cover of the book is good though it could have been better. The concept and the idea of the story is very good but every thing was easy for pinto in the story what I am trying to say is Pinto has an idea of inventing a machine for that he needs investor he shares his idea with his friend and his friend is ready to invest in that project and its done no arguments no problems ideas were great but everything was happening easily. The narration was OK. The book is written in a plain Simple English.
The story revolves around Pinto. Pinto is a scientist who has returned from U.S and settled in Pune. He has invented many things which helps the poor, common man, House wifes, Government and Rich people also. Honesty speaking I got bored in between but it was a good read. Will recommend everyone to read this book. It is a good book with lots of ideas.
I will rate it 4/5 stars

What happens in life when you decide to do something great in life, but unable to accomplish it due to circumstances? Not everyone is gifted with sheer geniuses'
or will power to accomplish things in life. One must realize the inner potential that lies deep within the humans which acts as a boon in the harsh times.
The gift in the form of talent that has been bestowed upon you seeks nothing but spreading happiness to others. Nevertheless, you never give up, fight with all
you have, whatever you've accomplished so far enables you to change things around. Making the world a better place to live in. The intricacy with which the book
has been penned down is commendable. The rational thinking, logical explanation of things, fundamental structured analysis of facts, the simple solutions which
helps fabricate our existence is yet another positive aspect of the book.
The prospect of common man & the various problems that he faces is discussed elaborately in this book, which surprisingly has been solved with technology. So do I need
to say anything else? Isn't this the enough reason to buy the book & start reading it.
Keeping this basic fact in mind the book has been written in such a splendid manner that it takes our breath away whenever we move from one segment of the book
to another. The technological thoughts, technical aspects, challenges faced, their description is depicted throughout the book, the way it has been fragmented
after proper research, a thorough analysis which crafts the book into a high-level masterpiece is indeed a challenging task. Yet, the author has done a
fantastic job in bringing out this fact clearly to the readers.
Cover is beautiful & scientific. The human mind that has been depicted over, given the complex functionalities it performs in our day-to-day life. Though it may seem to
simple to some, but the fact that it does such tasks with utmost ease, in itself is an amazing feat. The thoughts we carry out enables us to weave things
meticulously. To be precise easily.
Title is apt & goes along with the story in hand. In fact, it has been selected wisely.
Theme involves science, fiction, problems, solutions, friendship, poverty, wealth, rich, politics, life, technology, thoughts, logical, complex, rational thinking, love, family, inventions,
society, country, world and many other aspects which helped the book into something worth reading for.
The journey of an ordinary boy 'Pinto' to a renowned scientist 'Rajat Shrivastava' as he solves different mysteries of man, though a stark genius in front of the world. But when it comes to love &
romance he fails even the most ordinary folk. The story of him falling in love with the girl he met at bizarre events, who turns out to none other than his partner in crime & research helper is
something to ponder upon. The latter being his soulmate, an inevitable part of his life is the most interesting aspect of the book. These things add spark to the book.
Another added feature to the book which captured my interest is that each & every page we read & move across the book, is full of logical, intuitive information & not
any useless stuffs that we discover in many other books. Well I can't stop myself from mentioning the fact that the 'humor' part that has been induced to it is remarkable.
At times, across every section of the book, we come across real-life examples, the central character narrating stories with a touch of interesting humor added another
feather to the cap, a spice to the story.
This simple fact distinguishes this book into a remarkable read.
Language is perfect, simple yet elegantly written.
Narration induces another interesting specimen into it.
A life changing book, worth buying, a must read. Thoroughly enjoyed it, an entertaining read.
One of the best ever read by me. Waiting for other series of 'PINTO.'

This is a story of Rajat Shrivastava or Pinto who was a very brilliant student since the beginning. I like the writing style of the author. The plot of the story is also different from other books which I have been reading recently and it was a good change for me. The title is appropriate for the book and gives away the theme of the book.

This book describes struggles of pinto, his intelligence and his hunger for knowledge. His character is well described in the book as needed. Though I think some incidents should have been described more clearly like going of pinto's father to England and then returning back. Book gives away the idea of common problems one had to face in villages and small towns.

The author has used stories to describe various events which I really like because stories always make the explanation more clear and descriptive. The language of the book is simple and easy to understand and you can read the book in few hours without breaking the flow. The cover of the book is very attractive and appropriate for the book. This the book is for everyone, no matter what genre you like.

‘Life is long if you know how to use it’ and for Pinto aka Rajat this forms the footing for his prosperity. ‘Pinto has an Idea’ is about realizing self-worth and fighting the odds to prove your identity. Set in the Indian backdrop, this is not a love story. Pinto always has a bee in his bonnet and strives to challenge his mind and unleash its true potential. We get the first glimpse of his brilliance when he juggles frogs during his adolescence. Well-informed and pragmatic, Pinto is a character that inspires the readers. Though he is made to go through the mill initially, he leaves no stone unturned to come up trumps.

Describing the whirlpool of emotions, this book is a potboiler. The story portrays the dilemma a scientist faces when it comes to the matters of the heart and relationships. A perfectly eked out character of the protagonists shows the author’s prowess in developing and presenting a protagonist who connects well with the readers. Fluid narration and uncomplicated language make this book an easy read. Also, I liked the flow; the story’s fast pace intrigued and allured me into completing it in one go.

The cover of the book is superb and editing has been done with a fine-tooth comb. However, I felt the story lacked originality; I could reminiscence many characters that were moulded into one (Sheldon Cooper, a neophyte in the matters of love; Arvind Kejriwal, an IITian who sets out on a quest to salvage the country from malfeasance; and Mohan from the movie ‘Swades’, a man who decides to change the fate of his city come hell or high water).

The plot is gripping and the lucid narration acts like a cherry on the cake. There are no monotonous lengthy descriptions; the setting of the scenes is relatable and gives the readers ample opportunity to experience every moment. But I missed the use of good vocabulary. Overall, this book presents old wine in a new bottle but the bottle is nicely packaged!

Best wishes to the author!

Who is Pinto? Pinto is every Indian who is frustrated with the maintained status quo and wanders for change in the society as well as the nation! I loved the novel by Rajeev! It is just next to a great speech delivered by some great leader who is insinuating us to do things out of the box and make India a better place to dwell! Pinto is an idea-machine who keeps on thinking about the welfare and that's why he kicks a good position in the USA and comes back home....

It covers everything about Pinto in his childhood and then shifts to covering his wonderful ideas to create a better and convenient society later. Rajeev Saxena has been wonderful in articulation because he does not go the curved way rather remains to the point and narrates what he is ought to - the novel reminded me of the older ones which remained revolving around a person of unmatched strength and sharpness of the mind.

Pinto comes up with many beautiful ideas which he executes with the help of his friends to create a better world around him. Be it the 'carry-the-car' idea or be it the 'sending-the-relief' idea. You will love to see the feeling for the nation in the diaspora of the country! Enjoy reading it....

As the title goes, the novel mainly dwells on the 'ideas' that the central character Pinto has. He often tends to think about the things which could bring a possible change in the society and that change for the wonderful ease only.

"India is like a blank canvas .... upon which I can paint a picture the way I want to...."

And this is the driving force which brings a well-settled scientist Pinto or Rajat back to India and he works upon making things easy for the people around him. You will love the ideas and you will also love the novel. Go ahead and have your read!

This to me is a mixture of Indianness and innovation and cultural roots and modern ambitions. Rajeev has offered the best he could for the readers to read... His ideas have worked good and readers will surely enjoy this uncasual and serious read of a novel.

Before I can really get into the review, let me tell you - "This book has a potential to become a movie very soon". So, before it becomes a movie and gets compressed losing all the greatness it has in the paper form, read the book. Also, let me state it: I really do not want to get into the story or part of the story to reveal bits and pieces of it. So, my review is mostly from the aspects of the book and why you should read it.

Recently, my kid had a story telling competition at school and the way I had written the first line for her to tell is "Knowledge and presence of mind are power supreme." 'Pinto has an idea' closely matches this line. It narrates the story of an inquisitive Rajat whose nick name is Pinto and his always unquenched thirst for knowledge, to come up with something new, aims to reach people, and the struggles that he had to undergo at many places including his love life. Not sure why they call it usually love chemistry, but this book is a real chemistry mixing science, love and many other stuff.

In India, many of us (or most of us) really excel in theory, and that is because of the fact that our education system gives importance to how much you can memorize and not how much you can practically apply what you learnt. Pinto is different. He always has an idea, excels in studies from school to IIT to MIT, and then throws away everything to invent practical solutions to everyday problems that the society faces. His love Lavanya truly acts as a catalyst to Pinto to do this and more - solve the common problems that are faced by common people (the word 'common' present twice in this one sentence is not oversight). The author has brought out a beautiful point - for anyone having intellect and motivation, nothing is impossible. I am not sure if part of this book represents his own story, but Rajeev Saxena seems to have powerful imagination to bring out so many scientific stuff in a book like this that any non-science person can also easily catch and understand. The choice of characters are very good.

Simplicity is the foremost plus point of this book. Especially, when you are narrating a story of a person that has its roots from a village environment, it ought to be simpler, if not simplest. Secondly, in my opinion, as a reader reads through a book, it must make the reader forget where he is present and change his imagination and the associated environment the same as the one that he is reading. Rajeev has done a great job on both. The language is classic and that increases your pace. And, he brings Pinto right on your eyes as your read, as well the environment that he is in at various points of time whether it is village or city, the Mumbai floods, everything. That gives this novel the liveliness that any novel must have. And, if these reasons are not enough, let me tell you this secret. This book will mostly bring back your own memories as your read the first half.

The book does get little dragging in the middle and towards the end, but the interest to complete the book never goes down. I am reproducing these lines from the book because these lines will tell anyone the essence of this book and Pinto, and not surprisingly, these are the everyday questions in our mind about our own country: "Why were a country's people left so ignorant of their real needs? Why were people so poor? And, why were their cunning leaders allowed to benefit from those so-called shortcomings? And why were people so timid that they didn't put up a fight against those leaders who had been fooling them for three-quarters of a century?" I don't think anything else is needed to invite you to read this gem from Rajeev.

Go, buy and read it. Sure, you will enjoy this one!

Pinto, A science fiction with love coating done beautifully by the author. pinto is a person who tries to break the ice without bringing any cracks to it, keeping solutions crystal clear.
The author has nicely put together the world of science and the romantic world, the novel is based on a normal yet uniquely thinking boy's life in India and abroad and his journey of becoming one of the finest scientists from India to have more than 40 patents on his name.
The novel starts with an amazing solution to a common problem faced by a character, where pinto ends up using his brilliance and hence an idea of novel's ideology can be imagined.
Author has put together lots of memories from the life of kids born in the 80s and 90s in India. As we go through the novel. it has a good sense of humour, ideas, solutions which have been maintained throughout the end.
The author is also successful in making comments on the education system, social division and political system as well, but novel includes some emotional friendship moments where you will definitely cry and support the storyline.
Lavanya another character used very nicely by the author to represent the kindness of Indian women and how much they respect their traditions and customs of respecting in law's and she can be set as a perfect example as to how important it is to have a partner like Lavanya in order to be successful in life.
One can relive his college life as well as school life and also the struggle of clearing one of the toughest exams in India - JEE mains, #thestruggleisreal.
The story moves in a fast manner where a gap can be felt but the author has managed to keep us interested in the novel, so no worries.
One of my favourite parts was where pinto tries to explain things to people by narrating stories and these stories are such an amazing thing to read !, especially when Lavanya narrates one.
I could not resist finishing some interesting romantic and scientific chapters from the novel in a single go when you read the novel, you might finish it within a single read but trust me it's amazing to read those chapters. I would have loved if some chapters would have a bit more elaborated scenes but its okay.
The story of how pinto ends up losing his wife and everything is ended with a twist which might not be expected, though it is emotional and a sense of how true couples behave can be also be seen in the novel.
The novel travels a vast amount of time period of India after independence( after the 80s) and also shows one of the coolest discoveries done by the protagonist, vision of futuristic India and how it can be brought faster is also shown brilliantly.
Author has done a good job providing and proving that if you are willing to do anything for a change it can be brought by putting some effort starting from our very own home and society around us.The blame is put upon all the educated ones for not improving the conditions around, rather just sit at home and criticise someone on TV.Pinto sets up an example of how things can be improved by doing some work in various fields of education, health, politics etc.
One must read this novel and explore the world of science, romance, college life, coaching struggles and much more.
This novel pack's a bunch of ups and downs, cries and laughter and most important the scientific humour used by the author.
This novel is a must read to have a trip back to those days of pheriwalas and the icecream-walas.
We can call this novel old yet modern journey of India.

The cover is so unique that I simply couldn't turn down it's appeal. At first glance, this book seemed amazing. A romantic scientist isn't something you can expect to find usually. But here the author has done a wonderful job punching both the concepts. This story revolves around Pinto, a boy of extraordinary merit, who grows up to be a scientist. He has always been an out-of the-box thinker but establishing his ideas hadn't always been easy. After furnishing his education from abroad he returns to his motherland in order to change the scenario. His researches provided solution to multifarious problems, those in daily lives or global problems. A series of events occur including his advancement towards politics in an attempt to end corruption followed by the disappearance of his wife, Lavanya, and the story takes a new turn. The story runs at a good pace but somehow I felt the appearance as well as disappearance of Lavanya was too abrupt. Yet I cherished the sweet chemistry between Pinto and Lavanya. The story takes us through the journey of Pinto, the ups and downs of his life and how his ideas shone brighter in every situation. Also the political scenario of the country have been well described. The narration seemed a bit dull at places but that's indeed minor in comparison to the other aspects of the book.

This story is a perfect blend of different tastes which can be experienced only if it's read. This book will indeed make you ponder deep and leave an impact upon your mind. After reading this book, I felt, indeed the author had an excellent idea which has found vivid expression through this book and indeed has rocked the minds of the readers. Who knows, after reading this you might find an idea as thrilling as this book itself!!

The cover design is really attractive. The title also complemented very well. The blurb could have been a bit short, it gives away too much about the story. The theme is wonderful, the plot is well chosen. One of the good characteristics is the strong storyline.

Honestly, I haven't read this kind of story before and I'm overjoyed with my experience. Hats off for choosing such a difficult theme and presenting it in such a wonderful manner. Looking forward to read more from the author.

"Pinto has an idea" , can not be bound to a genre, that's rare to come up with a book that is more like a life story . I never felt I was reading a book but could imagine and relate my real life incidents. The writer has touched every aspect of life , a middle class person goes through. How it is being a child of a small town in Uttar Pradesh and from their journey to success and glory and emotional crisis amidst that has been portrayed beautifully in a simple yet strong language . Choice of words and phrases is at the right place that makes writing more impactful. Being an engineer myself I could relate to how things were going inside the head of the lead character.
It also takes great courage to come up with a story of 80s in this age of smartphones. People of my age would love it while young people should definitely read it to know how life was when smartphones and internet was not a big break those days. The flow of the book is one thing that is very beautifully poised, how the story moves from one place to other and one frame to other is almost perfect.
The author has given due time covering the demography of the areas covered , the names of the places in all the sections are real and gives more insight to the story and moreover people from around these places would definitely get into the scene immediately as I did.
The chapters in the second half where the writer discuss real life problems being solved is something new innovative, the problems that nobody considers to be problem in real.
I am very sure of the fact that this book is more into getting solutions and the message is clear , imaginations should never be stopped . Students of science should definitely read this they can get far better idea for their science exhibition than they get on any other magazine as such.
How to maange a balance in personal and professional life is a big question everyone of us faces, the book tries to get some answer to that, emotional moments are worth reading and you don't get disappointed with the sense of humour too , it is placed on perfect amounts at the right places .
I think people from age groups are going to love this book because everyone can find their spots in the story!
Great work , worth spending time and money

The book ‘Pinto has an Idea’ revolves around the tagline – Nothing is Impossible. Pinto is a curious and a brilliant man who is bubbling with new ideas constantly. He finds technology amusing and resorts to basic concepts for solving big challenges. In the status quo, when there is a dearth of standard fiction in the market, this book comes as a surprise packet. It does not contain romantic story in the background giving you butterflies in the stomach. In fact, it is a perfect product of literary prowess and a fantastic intellect. The author has woven an interesting narrative to engage the readers. Though the book appears to be a science fiction due to an abundance of ideas, it is more of an amalgamation of everything. It covers science, family, love, emotions, social issues and business all impeccably. The language has been used appropriately with the correct usage of proper phrases that enhance the attention of the reader. The coherence is maintained thoroughly. I am impressed with the manner in which Pinto revolutions the general way of living. His projects such as Gumshuda, Double H, Goodsnet, etc prove to be promising if used efficiently.

The title says that Pinto has an idea. But in reality, he is full of new thoughts to challenge the existing problems and setbacks in the society. His conviction proves that indeed, nothing is impossible. The cover is designed to perfectly complement the theme of the book. The brain of Pinto, the protagonist, is a powerhouse of out of the box ideas and he synthesizes them with his intellect to bring about significant changes.

In few instances, the description of the emotional turmoil of a human is appealing. Moreover, the author combined the human emotions along with science amazingly. However, there were few typos that appeared disruptive. I would suggest editing the book once and getting it rid of minute errors to make it flawless. Overall, the book has been a reliable and intriguing companion for the beginning of this year. I had a great experience reading it.

I would recommend this highly wonderful book to each and every person irrespective of the fact whether they are readers or non-readers because once you immerse yourself in the world of Pinto, his ideas will leave you awestruck.

Pinto's is an ordinary riches to rags story in the first half and a practical philanthroper in the second half. The first half reads like the author's own childhood with every little detail typed out. I think many of the readers will be left wondering why the author needed to describe Pinto's younger days at length. Perhaps he was trying to weave a reason to why Pinto cared for social causes, but this also doesn't come out clearly. Still, I am sure many readers will find common ground with some of the experiences that Pinto goes through in his childhood. I guess writers have a tendency to borrow heavily from their own experiences, I just think that in this case, the context was getting distorted a bit and the writer could have done a better job of holding the story together. Towards the end of the first half, Pinto becomes a professor in the US with his thoughts still mired in the bylanes of small towns that he spent his childhood in. Another significant event of the first half is his lack of feelings towards Lavanya, his coaching center peer and one who secretly adores Pinto for his simplicity and practicality. With this background, we enter the second half - where Pinto reconnects with his love Lavanya and then sets out on a series of innovations. Here is where the reader can start reading the book from any chapter, they will inevitably come across the process by which Pinto conceived and created an invention. Some inventions are downright ridiculous, like the one that helps transit electric power from the western world to India and vice versa, perhaps the author assumed that many readers might not bother about this phenomena of electric leakage that is the bane of the electric transmission industry. Pinto then comes along with an idea of faster and more secure home delivery system followed by other such inventions including the very ambitious intra city conveyor belt that saves on the travel time and cuts down road accidents and even a venture in politics. All this felt like a mellowed down version of 'adventures of Sinbad the sailor'. I hope the author comes up with a better story line next time.

Reading something different is always fun. Besides those usual genres like romance, thriller, mythological; I was looking for some interesting story to read. I have read contemporary fiction for the first time and I am not disappointed. The title of this book caught my attention and I decided to give it a read.

This is the story of Rajat who is commonly named as Pinto. He is a scientist and a social worker who might be a politician too. He hails from middle class background that was home tutored in his earlier years. However, he later studies in IIT and becomes a scientist working in MIT. Unromantic Pinto meets Lavanya who moves on to become his life partner. Pinto with his new mechanism wants to do something for the society which begins his road towards joining politics. During all this when Pinto is about to reach the peak of success, Lavanya leaves him suddenly without telling him anything. That brings in the curiosity to read further. This story has many aspects like love story of a scientist, curiosity and determination of a middle class boy, social worker turning into a politician and a lot of ideas.

I loved that the book had some of the elements discussing about my city which made me feel connected. Afterall if you are reading a fiction story that is happening in your city, you will surely smile. The title is brilliant and apt for the story. This scientist Pinto has too many ideas. Narration was good however I felt bored at times when there were too many descriptions about the machines. The cover was good but I did not like its colour combinations. It seemed dull due to the colour. The narration was good.

I recommend this book to everyone who loves reading irrespective of the genre because it has elements of various genres.

Cover- 3.5 / 5 (The colours really disappointed me)
Plot- 4 / 5
Narration- 4 / 5
Title- 4.5 / 5
Overall- 4 / 5

Title: Pinto Has An Idea

Author: Rajeev Saxena

Publisher: Bloomsbury

ISBN-13: 9789386826930

Publication Date: 10th December 2017

Number of Pages: 272

Pinto Has An Idea by Rajeev Saxena is a contemporary fiction. The book is an amalgamation of science, romance, thrill, emotions and politics. The major theme of the book is “An Idea Can Change Your Life.” Since childhood days, Rajat (who was called Pinto) was keen into new research and always thought out of the box. His ideas were always innovative and extremely different from people around him. Despite being a brilliant student and a successful person he never gave away his nationality and patriotism and returned back to his country to serve its country. The trends of USA did not change his feeling of patriotism. She falls in love with Lavanya but due to the changes in his perspective, their marriage life begins to fade away. What will be the fate of the couple? The book was written in a simple language and formal language. The scientist Pinto stands out as an inspiration to all the Indians. This book also arouses the feeling of patriotism towards one’s country. The title of the book is something very eye-catching that tells the reader that the book has something new to tell. The cover of the book suggests that the book has a strong connection with science. The blurb should have been a little brief and not so lengthy as the blurb is revealing almost the entire story. I liked the character of Pinto and I also consider him as a role model. The storyline of the book was outstanding and unique. The presentation style of the book was flawless. Overall, it was a very unique and addictive read.

My Ratings:

Title: 5/5

Cover: 5/5

Blurb: 4/5

Characterization: 5/5

Plot: 5/5

Writing and Presentation: 5/5

Overall Rating: 4.7/5

What a great book. I've been an occasional readers of books written by authors from India but never wrote any review. Pinto Has An Idea was so lovely that it really made my new year's day. That's the reason I decide to write my first review.
A lower middle class boy Pinto struggles, goes to IIT, has fun there, has love affair, something happens and that's it. This is what I expected from this book as that's the trend I've seen from other authors in India.
But to my surprise, all of what I said above was there but this was just the introduction. After that the serious book starts. The ideas described in this book are so nicely thought of and crafted that it's beyond description. I actually enjoyed both the parts. The first one which has several funny incidents and then the next one which has some serious ideas.
This is not the book for the readers who have traditional mindset. What I mean is that a hindi movie typically has a hero, heroine and a villain. Similarly those readers who think that a story should have all the components such as characters, settings, conflict, resolution...a fine balance of them etc. etc.
The book has a plot, characters etc. but the author has chosen a very different format which is perfect for this kind of book. I'd say the writing style and format are as innovative as the book itself.
One needs to be really an intelligent person to write such a great book.
Every idea is great but specifically I liked the way Pinto suggests to solve the VIP issue in this country . Very practical idea...hopefully our politicians have courage to pick it up and implement.
Again a must read for all.

REVIEW OF THE BOOK “PINTO HAS AN IDEA” BY R SAXENA
-Yugajyoti Mishra
The book “Pinto Has An Idea” by Rajeev Saxena is basically suited for those who have utopian dreams about modern society. The story is entirely devoid of any plot and it is like bits and pieces of Pinto’s life put together in one book. It is an educative experience for finding possible solutions to our routine problems but the book is definitely not a page turner.
You can call this book a biography but not a fiction- and especially not a romantic fiction at that. The lead character faces several problems in his life and being a scientist he uses his brain and solves his problems. For a story to be successful, it should appeal to the readers, give them something to think about, keep their fingers crossed about what happens next. But the book bypasses it all. It kills the problem even before it has become a real problem. The book is like “ Get a problem, solve a problem”. And the character’s wife, Lavanya, has been portrayed as a common Indian wife who leaves her job after her matrimonial alliance, gets angry with her hubby over petty issues and finally leaves him when he ventures into the area of politics. Her character is very typical and with very less gravity.
This book has no definite message to give to its readers, apart from the hypothetical solutions. There is no hint of romanticism nor any “life changing revelation” that caused Pinto to abandon his work of theoretical physics and pursue solutions to everyday problems.
The language is very good, although splashed with eye catching idioms now and then.

Rajat Srivastava popoularly known as Pinto by his family and friends, is an inside of the box thinker. He strives, applies and is an apparently a genius when it comes to make our day to day living better with innovative apps and ideas.

Pinto's journey starts in a small town in UP, where he is brought up by his parents and grandparents. Amidst the innocent childhood, is a Pinto bursting with ideas, his first being to remove kernels of a corn successfully.

Pinto's intelligence, hard work makes him an IIT aspirant, where he meets Lavanya. It is here where their friendships blooms. Pinto makes into IIT Kanpur & thereby he quits a job at software company & joins as a research assistant in US. Pinto's heart somehow finds Lavanya and they get married. Pinto settles down in India with Lavanya.

He invents a myraids of house hold apps including an app on how to track your regular "thelewala", an app for maids, reliable app to diagnosis day to day ailments, grocery shopping etc. Amidst all these, somehow the tender love story between Lavanya & Pinto is lost.

The book touches your heart at 2 occasions, when Pinto's dadaji gets lost and second when Pinto decides to join politics due to an idea he invents. I wish the author had taken just one idea of inventing something and written a novel around it.

Debut author has done a commendable job on bring Pinto and his dear ones alive. The writing is lucid, heart rendering and with a generous dose of humor. The characters are well sketched & one is almost immersed in the pranks of young Pinto and one is also again inspired by Pinto when he tries to make everyone's living a bit better.

The story revolves around Rajat Srivastava aka ‘Pinto’ (notable – NOT Pintoo), a small town boy with big dreams. Before you think Pinto is a boy who wants to go to Mumbai and aspires to become a bollywood actor, let me tell you, NO! he doesn’t. Pinto wants to study hard and invent things which turns up to be helpful for common masses or can be used to take his country forward. Pinto was born to Ram and Rita Srivastava on April 1970. At the age of eight his efficiency in studies caught attention of the teachers. His first invention was corn kernel-removal machine which made him the hero of his village.  Pinto joined Gurukul Coaching Centre for JEE and stared living with his friends. But he restrained himself from eating out or watching movies frequently, he preferred to make more time to study. Pinto studied hard and managed to crack JEE entering IIT Kanpur. While preparing for JEE, Pinto met Lavanya in GCC in Kanpur. Lavanya was like a breath of fresh air in Pinto’s life but Pinto didn’t understand her worth until he was 34 and a successful scientist of MIT. This shows that with right kind of love and support even an unromantic guy like Pinto can become love-struck. Pinto solved so many issues with his amazing inventions. Ghumantu technology helped to keep track of moving food vendors, this one I liked most. With his inventions Pinto soon achieved success and fame but in this process he started to lose his dearest possessions. He realized that fame & money are important but not as important as peace of mind.

Pinto has an idea
3.0/5
Pinto has an Idea, gives us a clear view of a middle class IITan who wishes to change the world, using his inventions to change everything.Author makes it clear that this is not a sci-fi book, prepare to be amazed by the ideas he talks about. There are no complex timeline, plot and is written in a formal way, appealing to each and every reader. The book begins with Pinto's,the protagonists childhood and his adventures. It shows an India I've only heard of.Author was successful in giving a clear idea of 80s India. He even took time to mention the controversial subjects and did it in a good way,not messing with emotions of readers.

Overall,as good as the ideas looked, the story-wise interpretation would be dull. The protagonist is so perfect in every aspect of life without any flaws. Some might find it great, but it didn't-for me.Story progresses in a simple, easyntone and the ideas he tries to convey is crystal clear, makes the reader go "Oh,why haven't they did this already".The book is simle and 90% of people will be able to relate to it,in a way.

The reason for 3 stars is that it just didn't have a spark that would make me complete the book in a single sitting. And let's not forget the fact that Pinto was too perfect,i got jealous of him.

Jokes aside,a pretty good debut by Rajeev Saxena.I dont "strongly" recommend it, but i do recommend it.Not in a strong way.You wont be regretting the time and money.Worth it.

the book reached to me in a good condition. this book has been different and a unique read after a long time. The cover depicts about the character. The book has various components to it consisting life, love, work, struggle and politics as well. The book takes a different turn as time progresses. pinto is a middle class person and always has many ideaa. the book is about pinto and his life which takes turn. The vocabulary is nice. it is definitely an interesting read! he is just a common person who always believes in hardwork . The book starts on from his jee preparations to him inventing ideas for common problems and delivering a solution to it. pinto has always been a curious person since childhood. Pinto always has had an on and off love and hate relationship with lavanya. He marries her and then his life has much more better direction. He tastes success and life takes him into politics somehow. the more he is growing, more he gives in less and less time to his family. will he be able to make it up? how long will lavanya hold on/

read the book to know more. The book will keep you hooked throughout. characterization is also been done properly. description of incidents have been done limited not much not less. The ending is sweet. The book amazes you on how pinto tries to solve different matters easily. the book tells you not to give up. stay curious and keep your loves ones close!
overall- 4/5.
