Crown Jewels #3

The Royal Delivery

Rate this book
My husband and I are madly in love. Our royal baby is officially on the way. So why are we both freaking out?

With all eyes on me, I’m determined to be one of those fabulously fit pregnant women. I could do it, too, if it weren't for all the freshly-baked scones.

Soon dubbed the Cowntess of Camembert, I desperately want to go into hiding until after the baby has grown up. But royal life won't wait, and I need to figure out how to win the people over once and for all (because they pretty much all still hate me).

Having the next heir arriving soon has caused Arthur’s overprotective streak to come out in spades. In fact, he’s gone nuts—accusing potential obstetricians of having vagina-fixations, and demanding pedo-checks on everyone who comes onto the palace grounds.

To make matters worse, I’ve accidentally publicly insulted the upper crust (i.e. all of Arthur’s friends) about how they raise their children.

Oh, and I declared I’ll never hire a nanny, which I will totally need.

We have got to pull it together, because if we don’t, there’s no way we’re going to manage to raise a well-adjusted human.

And just as terrifying, there’s a chance we won’t even be a happy couple by the time the baby arrives…

The Royal Delivery is hilariously sweet and heartwarming tale of a woman battling pregnancy hormones under the public microscope, her well-meaning husband who would just as soon lock her and the baby in a tower forever to keep them safe, and the world’s most inappropriately funny bodyguard who can’t seem to stop doling out unwanted advice. It’ll have you snort-laughing, crying, and wincing until the very last page.

This was my least favorite in the series. Too many cliches when it came to the pregnancies and far too obvious what would happen next. Not enough smiles to sweeten the standard plot.

The Royal Delivery is the third book in the Crown Jewels Romance. The wild and funny Prince Arthur and his Princess Tessa are back and with a baby, on the way, the Royals are about to have their world turned upside down.

description
"When it's right, you won't ever want to lose her."
Tessa and Arthur have successfully survived their first year of marriage and now they will bring a royal baby in the mix. Tessa and Arthur have been through so much and now that the pressure of pregnancy has hit the castle chaos erupts around every turn. As Tessa battles insecurity and endures the physical changes her body is experiencing, she begins to doubt her ability to be a mother to a royal baby. Arthur feels isolated from Tessa and as he tries to balance his Royal duties and his desire to be everything for his new wife he feels like a complete failure. As both struggle to find their way back to each other, their love is transformed and renewed.

description
"The very best thing in the world is if you love someone intensely and wildly and unconditionally, and she loves you right back."
Told in dual POV, The Royal Delivery is a laugh out loud romantic comedy full of witty text and endearing characters. Tessa's family is back in full force and coupled with the Royal family, the laughs just keep coming. The romance between Tessa and Arthur continues to flourish. Although the passion between the two was diminished (due to the pregnancy), the love between them continues to grow. Tessa finds a new strength through the challenges she faces and with Arthur by her side they become an unstoppable force. With the new royal addition, my heart runneth over with love for this couple and their new family.

Overall, I highly recommend The Royal Delivery to anyone who enjoys a tender hearted romantic comedy full of laughs. I have enjoyed every single book in this series and this final book truly brought the characters to their happy ever after. I am a huge fan of this author and her work. I cannot wait to see what Ms. Summers has up her sleeves for her next work of creation!

I really did enjoy this zany series, I have had three children myself, so I could relate to much of this book...even if it was a bit OTT at times, it was still a lot of fun. (I even got teary eyed and a wee bit emotional a few times.)

The royal family of Avonia is back for another enjoyable entry in the Crown Jewels Series. I heart these books and characters so much; they feel like old friends now. In The Royal Delivery, we get to check in on Prince Arthur and Princess Tessa a year into their marriage. They're still madly in love and are now expecting a little prince or princess much to the delight of the kingdom and their families. As thrilled as the parents-to-be are with their impending arrival, they soon learn that they are ill-prepared for all the issues, opinions, and judgments that come with a very public pregnancy. To make matters worse, poor Tessa is violently ill (I had the greatest empathy for her, but still laughed my butt off over Vomitgate!) and Arthur finds himself both sleep and sex-deprived. Although the couple does their best to present a united front and weather the hormonal storm together, their once-happy relationship starts to show serious signs of strain. Will the thing that should bond them together forever cause a permanent rift instead?

Once again the author tells her story with alternating points-of-view from the heroine and hero and it's fun to see how pregnancy affects both Tessa and Arthur. There are lots of comedic moments, as well as cringe-worthy and poignant ones, along the way. It was great to see the return of supporting characters like hunky bodyguard Xavier, who becomes hilariously over-involved in the princess and her offspring's welfare, and Tessa's well-meaning, over-the-top parents. Every good story needs a villain, so the always hissable Lady Dr. Brooke has a part to play in the proceedings and she gets the best comeuppance ever, which made me cackle with glee. Another character I won't name is redeemed in a very organic way and that redemption segues beautifully into the last, heart-stopping act of the book.

The denouement of the story is a lovely valentine to fans of the series that made me tear up. I know this book is a wrap on Tessa and Arthur's story, but I've got my fingers crossed that we'll see characters like Xavier and Princess Arabella, who still needs to find her special someone, in a future tale set in Avonia. Kudos to the author for this wonderfully funny, romantic, and entertaining trilogy, which I highly recommend to fans of romantic comedies and royal romance. It's the perfect series to read while you wait for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to walk down the aisle!

This was a great conclusion to the Crown Jewel Trilogy. I loved seeing Tessa come into her own and Arthur too. I will admit to wanting more because these two are wonderful, but they now have babies and I'm hoping Melanie Summers writes about Arabella too!

I struggled with this review. There was a large part of the book that was very frustrating bc both of the main characters were so mean to each other and everyone else. I get that the point was the amount of pressure they were under, but you can be pregnant and not be mean to everyone, especially if you are not the one pregnant lol. It was bad, but then the ending was so sweet and I truly loved all the characters so it made it back to a 4 star. Her family was so needy and rude. The first 3/4 of the book would have definitely been a 3. I really enjoyed the series as a whole but this was not my favorite of the 3 books.

The Royal Delivery is the heartwarming conclusion to the Crown Jewels Trilogy that’s full of surprises and swoon worthy moments to keep you wanting for more.

After getting married in front of those they cared for the most, Tessa and Arthur are ready to start their lives together. But it’s not long when they find out that Tessa is pregnant and caring the next heir to the kingdom of Avonia. With the news giving new hope for the future of the kingdom, all eyes are on Tessa once again. People are questioning her every move when it comes to get her pregnancy and she feels the need to win the people over once and for all. Yet, she is unable to enjoy her pregnancy and that starts to quickly take a toll on her. Frustrated that Arthur is focusing too much on other things and not be there for her, they start to grow distant. While Arthur still has years before he becomes king, his father leaves him to oversee the kingdom while he is away. Now more than ever, he wants to be there for Tessa, but his country needs him as well. With new surprises coming his way, he’ll have to let go of his past before it’s too late.

I cannot believe the trilogy is over! It has truly become one of my favorite royal romantic comedies. Summers has down a great job developing the characters and their growth throughout the books that hook you from beginning to end. In this book, we see the characters go through new obstacles as newlyweds and soon-to-be parents. It was nice to see Tessa truly find herself within her new royal life and mark a new beginning for herself. On the other hand, Arthur is still struggling to let go of some of his past and we find out more of what’s been bothering him and if he overcomes it. The epilogue was the best part in my opinion, it was sweet and it fit the overall story very well. I would love to see a spinoff story with some of the characters in this trilogy. All in all, it was a great conclusion to the story and would highly recommend it. :)

In my opinion this book should have been a novella, I did enjoy reading more about both Tessa and Arthur, but as it happened in the previous book, some chapters felt kind of repetitive for me. What I mean to say, is not that the chapters were the same or the moments the same, just that sometimes I felt like we were not advancing with the plot. For some reason, I did like this one better than the second one in the series.

I loved to see Tessa manage her pregnancy, although I would have liked to see her more as a mother towards the end. I felt like I barely saw her as a mother, with the book ending after she gave birth and she went home, with only one chapter with a time jump of three months. I liked Arthur but… I hate how he felt like he had no purpose. His character in this one felt so less than what he gave us in the other two books, and it happens as it did with Tessa, I only saw a glance of him as a father.

Overall, it was an adorable read. The chapters towards the ending were my favorite if I’m being honest, it’s like we saw everything coming full circle and it’s always satisfying to read that kind of moments.

Absolute drivel. This “book” could/should have just been a bonus at the end of book 2. I had to end up skimming until I found something interesting. Had to force myself to finish this book. What a stinker!

A satisfying conclusion to this sweet series. Love how Tessa ended up dealing with Brooke and how she stood up to her family. Also liked the character development from Winston. Just would’ve liked to see more of Gran Florence and Arabella in this book.

The final installment of the Crown Jewels trilogy was once again a great laugh out loud romance. Tessa turned into a crazy woman, pregnant in the still crazy royal world, and under constant public scrutiny. Even though she made a spectacle of herself in a number of scenes (as usual), it was actually Arthur that made the biggest arse out of himself in this one. Poor guy was also feeling the heat of pregnancy and wasn't always his royal self. All this provided for great scenes!

My favorite aspect of this story was how Tessa was finally able to find her way into the hearts of her fellow Avonians. It had been a long time coming.

Sad to see this series end, but will most certainly continue to read more from Melanie Summers!

A perfect ending for the series and I really loved how Tessa's family came around in the end. I really hated how they were treating her with the verbal slamming at every family meeting. The third book was as funny and entertaining as the others were. I laughed so hard about Arthur and his Excalibur references and I really wished I could have his Grandma. She is the glue of this family. I was a bit bummed that this was really the end to Tessa and Arthur's story but I saw that Melanie has started another series about Princess Arabella and I think I might grab that soon. I really loved this series!

2.5 nothing exciting royal baby stars

This was kinda boring. It took me forever to finish cause I chose to read other things. It was exactly what you’d expect. Had some funny parts and ended as you would expect.

It tried too hard at some points. But got the basic comedy romance done. I’d read more when I’m in the mood not to be surprised.

This is the third installment of Melaine Summers Crown Jewels Romance series. In my personal opinion this is the best of the three. If I could have given this novel 10 stars I most certainly would have but alas Goodreads only goes up to five. I suggest that if the blurb for this novel appeals to you that you should go back and read both The Royal Treatment and The Royal Wedding. Believe me when I tell you that you wont be disappointed by either of those. In the first novel we met Tessa and Prince Arthur and watch as they go from disliking each other to lusting after one another to love. Then in The Royal Wedding we get a front row seat to all the fun, stress and craziness these two find themselves in while planning a royal wedding. Finally with book three we are taken along for the ride as these two prepare for the new jobs as parents.

I have to say that this novel quickly became my favorite of the three. Tessa, Arthur and the whole Sharpe/Royal family gang have held a soft spot in my heart since half way though book one. But after this novel Tess and Arthur have become my favorite book couple. There is just so much in both characters that is relatable. I love that even though these books are about a normal woman who falls in love with a prince that is where the fairy tail likeness ends. Tessa is so much like any one of us women. She is stubborn, kind, loving, clumsy, and so many more things that make her so relatable. So when if came time to sit down and read about her journey though pregnancy I couldn't want. And boy did Melaine hit the nail on the head with this one. She did not give us this glowing everything is great look but the real and relatable one. We see all the ups and downs that Tessa experiences throughout. From constant morning sickness, to fighting to know what's "right to do" to listening to other peoples opinion on your pregnancy. I found that this novel not only showed pregnancy in this way but really high lighting something that I have noticed since I became a mother myself. There is so much stress put on an expecting/new mom to do what others deem as the right thing. Then you are looked down on because of your choices and decisions. I loved when Tessa showed that every pregnancy is beautiful and that every mothers choices are her own and she should not be judged. The message that comes though from this book is a beautiful one and I wish I had read this before I had kids.

Besides all that you get to see that everyone has many of the same fears, issues and thoughts when it comes to being first time parents. There are so many things that Tessa and Arthur go though and feeling that they have that I can honestly say I remember having myself. Some of these come out in a lovely laugh out loud way that have you laughing hours later when you thing about them again. And others have you thinking/saying "oh yes I remember that all to well".

Melaine Summers has given us yet another rom com that will have you laughing, smiling, at times a little angry(men can be arses sometimes, lol) and loving every moment of this novel!

oy vey, sorry to say it, but i really struggled through this. it was a 2 star read for the majority but the ending 100% redeemed it for me.

i kept putting it off but want to cancel KU soon so knew i had to read it before my memory lost it completely. i really really liked the first one, i liked the second one less but it was still cute.. i don't think this one should have been a full book, to be honest. a novella at most.

now i know real life isn't perfect and is full of fights, miscommunications and insecurities... but in a fictional world, they should have sorted out their shit by now. there were some good bits sprinkled in there but for the most part, i was really frustrated and annoyed with how they both acted.

the ending was absolutely fabulous, made the slog worth it for sure. i do recommend if you are a tessa and arthur fan, it was a lovely ending. i will absolutely read more from this author.

❤️🌼VOMITGATE....COWNTESS OF CAMEMBERT....AND SO MUCH FUN...ONLY MELANIE SUMMERS ❤️🌼
After reading The Royal Treatment and the Royal Wedding, I knew, without a doubt, I would read The Royal Delivery by Melanie Summers....She writes love stories while finding humor in every subject and situation...and still giving us a good love story, characters we love and, sometimes, a little heat along the way...❤️🌼
After seeing the “plus sign on the stick”, Arthur and Tessa, get another shock, and while Tessa needs a stress-free pregnancy, her personal insecurities plus the fact that Tessa has no libido, re-focuses Arthur and kicks his overprotective tendencies into overdrive...and Melanie Summers gives us a funny book about two people who, no matter what, are very much in love....and work through their problems...❤️🌼
While I usually like some sex in my books, I didn’t realize until I finished this book, that there wasn’t any sex in this book, and I LOVED it. I, actually, laughed out loud, and I, even, shed a few tears in places....Melanie Summers gives us everything...I recommend, highly, The Royal Delivery, but I promise you will also want to read The Royal Treatment and The Royal Wedding....I have loved this series from its beginning, and after the last few weeks I’ve had, I really needed this book!!!❤️🌼
Thanks, Melanie Summers, your books give us so much, and you do it with humor and love...❤️🌼

This book... oh this book. I laughed so hard I almost wet my pants and had to make a bee line for the bathroom. I have loved this whole series and this is the royal icing on the cake. Arthur on nappie duty. In my minds eye I see this. Can he ever calm down? Remains to be seen, must read the book to see.
I love Tessa and Arthur. Poor Tessa, the girl can't win taking a flogging for that baby weight that women put on. It's not wrong to want to throttle Brooke the b**ch is it? There is so much going on in this one and I love Tess and Arthur. Simple as that. When they go for their ultrasound, one heck of a surprise. Tess is still trying to balance being pregnant, while being Arthur's wife and all the trappings that come with marrying into a royal family. Meanwhile Arthur is trying to get a grip on his duties as husband, husband to a very pregnant wife, picking up the slack because his father shirks his duties onto Arthur. Then there's the rest of the royal clutch. It makes for one heck of a ride and I loved every single minute. Pink plus sign and all.
Best part of the book for me, the minute her water breaks and labor. Melanie's chapter titles just played me and I loved them. Sigh. Gad what a great book! I loved it. Every single minute.
I love everything this woman writes, but I do believe she's truly outdone herself with this one. I'm going to read it again. It's that kind of book.

This book was the perfect way to close out a wonderful series!
Out of all three, I have to say the first was probably my favorite, though I did adore this story as well.
In my opinion, Arthur is most enjoyable in this story. He is still a bit overly-protective at times and sometimes doesn't admit when he is wrong. Still, his love for his family shines through the most in this book.
Tessa is as enjoyable as ever. I love the direction she begins to take later in the book, and how she mixes all the skills she has learned throughout the series. It was also interesting to see how much more "royal" she has become as the series progressed.
My only little complaint about this book is that I feel like the pregnancy section lasted too long. Some of it was a little repetitive. I wish we were able to see more of Tessa and Arthur being parents since I'm sure that would be just as hilarious as the rest of the series. Also, I felt like the second epilogue should have had more "story," and not just Arthur's thoughts about the journey.
At the end of this book, I was left wanting more in the very best way. I almost didn't want to finish, since I couldn't bear to leave Arthur, Tessa, and all the rest of the Langdons and Sharpes behind.
Who knows, maybe there will be a novella about the twins. A girl can dream, right?

Overall, I give this book a 4.5/5. I recommend the series to anyone who's looking for a chick-lit with a little more weight and substance to it.

I have just finished book 3 of the Crown Jewels Romantic Comedy Series. Each book in the series was astoundingly good but each one was better than the last.

This series was my first experience with Melanie Summer's writing and she is awesome. I enjoyed every page of each book.

To be honest as I continued reading the series I was getting quite frustrated with the Sharpe family. By the end of the book I mellowed. Can't say more about that without spoilers.

I loved Tessa and Arthur. I loved how strong they are as characters and the love between them. I am too a bit of a klutz, always have been and so Tessa resonated with me on many levels. I to can relate to verbal filters disappearing when angry or upset.

I enjoyed this series very much. I had to give it 5 stars. Which only the very very best stories get from me.

I am sad that it is now over and would be completely fine with Melanie coming out with a novella or three about the Langdons, or even Arabella's story or Nikki's for that matter....

I absolutely, absolutely, absolutely love this series. The Royal Treatment, The Royal Wedding and now The Royal Delivery are too funny and my review will not do the book justice. I think Melanie Summers is cross between Meg Cabot and Sophie Kinsella. I swear I don't know where Melanie comes up with her writing ideas but they are laugh our loud (no matter where you are and how many people look at you like you are crazy). I simply can't enough and hope beyond hope there is a book 4.

In The Royal Delivery Tessa is pregnant (duh) with twins! Having birthed twins myself, I have to say Melanie nailed all the emotions, hormones, fear, crazy fights, more crazy thoughts, and worry on the head. Of course she delivered with humor (not the case when I was pregnant).

All the characters in previous books are present and make the book even that much better (if that is possible). Love every single on of them. The entire Crown Jewels Romance is a must read series and you will not be disappointed. LOVED IT!

I have just finished the las installment of The Royal series and the smile spread across my face is nothing short of huge. I had a broad smile through out 80% of the book followed by 20% of utterly histeric bouts of uncontrollable laughter. Now that the ride through Tessa and Arthur is over, my cheeks fell numb from smiling so much and my heart feels both so utterly full of love and sadness. Love because Melanie Summers has found a way to bring the most perfectly imperfect couple there could be to life through her words. And sadness because, I am crashed that the ride is over. I am left with the most satisfied feeling over a book a reader could hope for and the biggest book hangover ever. And to be totally honest, there is no a better feeling after finishing a book if you ask me. So grab this book or the whole series of you haven't yet. I can attest no reader will ever be disappointed by the author and her exceptional talent to bring joy to others.

I think this might be my favorite book of the series. Tessa is having a heck of a hard time with her pregnancy, and Prince Arthur is busy as ever while his dad (the King) is busy relaxing around the world. Tessa just wants a normal pregnancy and a normal childhood for the next heir to the throne, but her previous blunders have caused the King of Avonia to hire a PR person just for Princess Tessa. Can Tessa navigate pregnancy through political waters and not make bold statements when she is thinking she is just talking 'to the girls' without it becoming national news?
I really liked how Tessa took a stand for the "Good Enough Mums' in the world. What I find amusing are the parallels with Harry and Meghan's recent pregnancy and campaign.
Once again, wit, humor, as well as a bit of truth grace this fun novel and conclusion for this series. I'm glad I carried on!

Just finished & Ready to read them ALL again!

Love the humor, the characters, the realities of life as they're portrayed in all of the Crown Jewels series. Tessa is a girl I can identify with and just as she doubts herself and doubts Author's love for her he comes through, well at least eventually, to firmly declare his undying love for her and to assuage her doubts that her life is meaningless and unimportant. He never looks down at her, while he may get exasperated by her missteps, his conviction that he needs her, and only her, by his side in order to be his best possible self is very convincing.

Now, if we could only see how they parent their precocious children as they grow. (Hint, hint, hint)
