What a brilliant can't put down book. Very thought provoking. Amazing to think someone can go through childhood without learning everyday skills. Also brings to light how some things with which we are familiar are actually quite stupid. Thank goodness she found a friend in Raymond. Would recommend this book to everyone.
The development of the characters is well drawn, it is how you would get to know someone in real life. A sense of menace is gradual and believable and the small clues as the story develops offer opportunity to become further involved. Wonderful, couldn't put it down!!

I enjoyed this book. It made me laugh in places and feel sad in others. There was a few twists and turns. At times I didn’t like Eleanor and others made you want to just hug her. An easy read wrote well.
As a psychology practitioner, I see flaws in the book, certain quirks that are very unlikely. But it was funny, different, and easy to read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would not label Eleanor as having Asperger,s though other members of my book club see it that way.
This is captivating and refreshingly honest .- a real triumph of writing getting into the psychological drama in the mind of the protagonist . Sad in parts but so funny . Though I’d hate to laugh at Ms Oliphant in real life. It pulls its punches in its descriptions of the lonely misfits in society . Whilst it will not be everyone’s favourite it’s a brilliant holiday read .
Absolutely fantastic. So sad it moved you to tears, so funny, I laughed out loud and all the while wondering what the next page held. Wondering what was going to happen and always wrong
Such a unique and intelligent story I loved every page, heart warming , heartbreaking, horrific, yet beautiful, complex yet simple.........just fabulous!
