A play about decadence, desire and dictatorship. Inside a beautiful state residence on the edge of an Eastern European city, four women wait. They talk Toy Story 2, Prada handbags, chilli vodka...Anything. For outside, as snow is falling, civil war looms ever nearer.
If you read this play be prepared that you won't understand it. At least, I didn't. It seems that it repeats itself completely which is true but every time it gives us more details about the characters. While reading it I wanted to cut the play and order it according to the storyline because i really needed all my imagination to at least understand some of the play. Good news that next week I'm going to see it on stage.
Saw a production of this woeful excuse for a play tonight. I can't think of a single redeeming thing about it. Lots of strong statements trying to mask the total meaninglessness of it all. The emperor has a lovely new suit of clothes. I hate Will Eno's plays for similar reasons but at least they have a laugh or two in them.
