The Mouse That Roared
Read what happens to Sandra Lyte after she defies her religious parents' wishes by entering a "lustful" beauty contest. After being thrown out of the only home she ever knew, Sandra travels to New York City in hopes of starting a new life. Unaware and naive about what life is like in the heart of the city, Sandra finds herself caught in a whirlwind of drugs, abuse, power, and murder. This rollercoaster ride is filled with action and suspense. Just be sure to exhale after every chapter.

What's Love Got To Do With It?
Fleeing the oppression of her parents' home, young Sandra Lyte looks to the big city lights of New York for hope and a new beginning. A new beginning she does find in Doug Gunner, a flourishing hustler. Agreeing to be his lady, little does Sandra know she's left one bad situation for another; in essence jumping from the skillet to the fire. Sandra's circumstances grow in intensity like that fire as she experiences pains and trials like no other; experiences that will forever change her. Her spirit is broken and her body worn. Can she muster enough inner strength to battle her own demons and better her situation?
The Mouse That Roared starts off slow for me and did not pick up a steady momentum until I was about one-third of the way in. Once over the initial hump, The Mouse That Roared is indeed a gut-wrenching drama. Murray effectively incorporates thriller elements, suspense, murder, revenge, and self preservation. The ending however, fell victim to being drawn out and somewhat unbelievable. The beginning and the ending weigh down what has the potential of being a truly good story. The potential was there, but the author missed the mark by a few inches. With that said, The Mouse That Roared is a solid debut effort. Murray is a budding talent and I would like see what he has in store for readers next.

The Mouse That Roared is a fast paced, intense thriller that starts off slow but worth the read if you stick to it. Dwayne Murray, Sr. brings you classic characters who endure everything but the norm. At the center of this timeless novel lies Doug, the product of an alcoholic father, and Sandra, the daughter of a minister and back-boneless mother. Although the ending may be a bit far-fetched for some, I recommend opening your imagination and giving this book a try. If you are tired of the regurgitated story lines and characters, pick up The Mouse That Roared for a fresh dose of suspense, drama, and a taste of fantasy.

I liked that it didn’t stay in between the lines, the author took a chance with the added fantasy twist, and it worked! I think more authors should stray from the norm to give their readers a little more for their money.

The title truly fit the novel. What a rollercoaster ride! I have read many urban novels but The Mouse That Roared is definitely the best I've read. The book was written like it was straight out of a movie. I was mindfully intertwined with the characters. At first I was angry with the character Sandra Lyte, but then my sister flipped the script and handled her business. I read the book in 2 days. I fell asleep in my office the next day because I didn't finish the book until 3:45am. This book is off the hook! Oh! on the last page of the book, the author Dwayne Murray, Sr gave his "picks" of actors and actresses to play the roles of his characters in the book. I think he got something there because I agree with all his picks, especially the role of the girl Rose being played by Bernie Mac's neice "Vanessa aka Nessa". To the author, Dwayne Murray, Sr., "Keep up the excellent work. You have a niche for this."

I know this author's wife. So, I brought the book in support of her family. However, after reading: The Mouse That Roared, I truly enjoyed it. The characters were in a good setting. He used imagination and insight. I am now currently reading the other two.
