Another enjoyable Spanish book for learning the language. Again, with these kinds of books, the story could have been longer and more thoroughly developed. Although the book was fun to read, I must admit that I am not a proponent of the protagonist Eduardo. His character is a bit shady. When his acquaintance Mercedes got lost and went missing in the house he is renting, he went to her house to snatch her dog as a coverup so that no one would be suspicious of her disappearance. And when he later found money in the secret part of the house where Mercedes got trapped, he intended to use it to buy the house, even though he suspected that it was the savings of the landlord's dead uncle. The right thing to do would have been to turn the money over to the landlord. I suppose I don't need to like the protagonist to enjoy the book.

I've been reading a number of books at the A1 and A2 level. I will say I found the vocabulary a bit more challenging in this one. An interesting difference was each chapter was filled by two short resumes, one in Spanish and the other in English. The vocabulary in the resume was a bit easier to follow but the could be as a result of having read the chapter. At the end of the book there are some interesting add ons: a short dictionary, some grammar practice, and some questions to answer about each chapter.
A good story with lots of vocabularies, phrases, idiomatic expressions
I enjoy reading the story along with the accompanying audio. I learned lots of new vocabularies and idiomatic expressions. I highly recommend this book. I will continue reading the remaining book series, along with the audios. They are great materials for improving m Spanish.
Terminé este libro hace unos días pero me olvidé de añadir una reseña. Solo leí porque fue gratis con Kindle Unlimited free trial. Uno de los personajes principales se llamó Mercedes y tuvo miedo siempre. Esta parte fue chistoso. Había bastante palabras nuevas.
I bought this a few years ago and didn't read it. I've read it now. Very short. It might be okay for an A2 learner, but it's not really a good novella. Over the last couple of years I've read a couple of proper Spanish novels. They were quite hard work, but much more rewarding.
