Not only does this book give a good overview of the history of the White Star Line, but it provides valuable details on the day-to-day operations of a shipping company in the late 19th and early 20th centuries that are difficult to find elsewhere.
If you are looking for new information about Titanic, you probably won't find it here as the authors seem to avoid focusing on a topic which has already been so thoroughly covered. I personally did not mind the brevity of the chapter on Titanic.
Despite its title, the book does not try too hard to push the narrative that White Star was a company with a poor safety record. Rather, the authors let the facts speak for themselves. I personally appreciated this approach.
