I could say that this is my first fantasy novel in Tamil. A fantasy which has complex narration which will kindle your deep rooted imagination to new level. The concept will surprise you at many place.
The title of the story, that is Vassegara Naadu will be introduced only after one third of the story. Author chose the contents of his first few chapters brilliantly. Yes, you will read about Vadumaaran and Kora Naadu at the start. Know the enemy first to see how powerful they are and how powerful they have become to challenge Vaseegara Naadu.
Characters were the best thing in this novel. Each person was different from one another. Each were brave on their own conditions and times. The most inspiring character would be Porimudi and his brain. Mastermind of Kora Naadu. The friendship between Vadumaaran and Porimudi was real strong.
The narration was unusual. The description will confuse at times as the author had taken interconnected war sequences and the tactics used in the battle. It’s a treat for your imagination. There are few illustrations between the pages for you to get a clear picture of what author describes. The twists may be few in the story but those are the noteworthy turns to keep you not distracted.
Many things needs to be said but that would become a spoiler which in turn will spoil your surprise while you read the book.
Only the length of the book was frightening and the first half had so much information and it was little hard to grasp all at once as the story proceeded without any light moments.
Overall “VaseegaraNaadu” is an amazing fantasy novel with stunning back to back battle progression happening on a mind blowing fantasy world.
Again thanks for the wonderful book samura. Seriously awesome. I knew it is a full of imagination but still here also you have given a very logical reasons for everything. Description and writings are awesome. Actually I am not able to express my feeling. I can see your hard work and how much time you took for this book. A big salute for samura and Vaseegaranadu.. Waiting for part 2👍
Fantasy genre is seldom used in Tamil movies and as well as in book. I have read a fantasy based short story but not a novel.
After reading a couple of chapters of Vaseegara Nadu I was awestruck on the characterization and the plot. Even the author has given beautiful Tamil names and they are appropriate to the character, some are, a man with a scared face the author given name is Vadumaran, vadu means scar, Sengkanal, Porimudi, Vanamatti, Kadabujan etc.
Coming to the story there is a planet, a sea divides into two hemispheres, on one side there is a kingdom called Kathiravanadu, Vadumaran the valiant fighter and intelligent Porimudi seeks revenge and kills the king and queen and they take up reign and rename the country as Gora nadu. They expand the empire and comes to know about one country Vaseegara Nadu which is not captured for centuries, they came to know how the adversaries are defeated in the battle field. Vadumaran takes up the journey as planned by Porimudi to get the special power.
Vadumaran has a son Ilathiran, he was trained by Deivasenar. As he progresses in martial arts he befriends Deivasenar’s son Sengkanal. Ilathiran looks after the kingdom on his father’s absence then he appoints his friend Sengkanal in his army. Sengkanal is a handsome, astute and as well trained in various fights which creates envy for Porimudi he feels that Sengkanal might one day will challenge Ilathiran.
A year later Vadumaran returns with special power which he can transmit to everybody, the power can stay for entire life or for a shorter period of time and as per the wish of Vadumaran. With that new power they initiate the war with Vaseegara Nadu.
With new found power did Vadumaran and Porimudi captured Vaseegara Nadu? Who is Sengkanal and what was his background?
The story is fantasy based and author has used extensive scientific details. Half of the story is in the battle field. The author has took up the power of magnetism as the core of the story. The description, naming the type of weapons used in the war, the details of the wall in Vaseegara Nadu, types of fighting techniques, the master plan of Porimudi, the strategies used in the war are well narrated by the author.
In the end the author has wished to explain in detail about the countries, their way of living, dress and habits and which I expect eagerly in the second part. A fantastic Tamil fantasy novel and a page turner.
Kudos Samura Sir you have succeeded again in delivering a super imaginative book.

This is my first Tamil full length book .So I was pretty much excited about getting this book .And I was not disappointed. The brilliant portrayal of each character makes the story interesting(especially Porimudi). Even though the book is so lengthy, the story line will let you fly through the pages. This is a fantasy novel, I was totally enjoyed reading this books... War sequences, creatures are mind blowing, the name of the land, creature, character are good....I personally liked the character called “Porimudi" he and his inventions made the story as a page turner....then the magnetic power is the base for the war and it is excellently handled by the author Samura

This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
First, thanks once again to Samura for sending me the printed copy of the book, really appreciate it. As far as the novel, this one adds to the limited amount of fantasy novels in Tamil. The fantasy fiction in Tamil is not as popular as in English. The story line, the plots and the narration are very interesting and sets the pace for the entire book. The thing that I noticed is that, the author could have avoided is the effort he has taken to justify his fantasy creations. Like the setting in the Dhuruvakol which is earth like, far off from earth and so on doesn't blend in initially for a fantasy fiction novel. I have read a few fantasy fiction novels, where the authors start to describe the characters and the setting and make the readers imagine rather than justifying logic behind the creation of those characters. The characters that the author has brought into the story have been carefully crafted and the war strategies, weapons and instruments are interesting creativity. However, the naming of the fictional beasts and those of the characters could have been a little bit more catchy. Very commendable writing by the author. I believe that the author's writing will evolve over time and be shaped by his readers. Very well done!!!
It was one of the extra ordinary novel that I read in Tamil. One of its kind in Fantasy genre. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Initially, it took time to grasp and understand the elements mentioned about the other planet. Once i got a handle and able to follow, it was a page turner. Battle after Battle, new creatures and totally different kind of setup made it very interesting.
I liked Porimudi, Vadumaaran, Nithyagyaani, Kavaraththevan and deivasenar characters very much. I liked the brave, smart and intelligent Sengkanal and Aravika love chapter very much. Their presence of mind was awesome.
It is totally a worthy novel to read and recommend it to everyone
First few pages have slowed my reading as a lot of descriptions have gone into covering the backdrop of sea and the land nearer to the sea and also a new race of people living in the natural surroundings. Afterward, I quicken the pace as the story unfolds with subplots like layer after layer.
I am overwhelmed by the raw, deeply creative and dark story of valour, revenge, loyalty friendship, enmity, violence, deceitfulness ,battles, and defeats. that would blow you away.
This mind-blowing novel is a mix of fantasy and fairy tale with a realistic feel. It is amazingly gritty, savage and heroic fantasy novel that gives all the entertainment. The beautiful story in the harsh imaginative setting has got a sure edge to hook the readers.
The Plot.
This lengthy 416 pages book carries 25 chapters each has got a caption. Its a story of a greediness of a tyrant king of one nation capture another kingdom. The story begins with Koran a ruthless pirate saving a child abandoned by his parents. He christens him Vadumaran. He grows along with his biological son Porimudi. Once they go to the river all alone and Porimudi is caught by a bird Purasura. He has lost his left eye and left leg.
Pormudi reads a lot and learns to guide Vadumaran in several war strategies. In the meantime, they lose their parents. They capture Koranadu with the help of pirates and rule the country. They always try to go for war wth other countries. Vadumaran marries Udayavarasi and they have got a son namely Eladheeran.
Deivasenar a learned guru teachers youngsters all the training for fighting. Vadumaran sends his son Elamaran for learning the skills. The Sengnal is the only son of Deivasenar.
In the meantime, Vadumaran comes to know about Vaseegara Nadu and decides to fight for the same. What is the beauty and greatness of Vaseegara Nadu? whether Vadumaran succeeds in his endeavors? How they are powered to fight with the opponent? What are the special powers used by the soldiers of Vaseegara Nadu?
So many questions arise and you have to read the book for the answers.
The Pro
The title Vaseegara Nadu and the Subtitle Kanporai Cavarum are eye-catching and the beguiling cover with the images of the two warriors on the background of the fort is alluring.
The simple and neat language and writing are good and the narrative prose is the sure page-turner. Once I start to read the book pages fly. The political drama with all the twists and turns includes all the vibes, sentiments and feelings.
The extraordinary power of MCs by taking the form of an animal mainly Crab and Tortoise is depicted with dexterity and prudence..Not only children but also adults would enjoy the tale. Especially the fighting scenes where the warriors change their power is shown in a grand manner. The author has done a great job on this facet.
The fast-paced novel leaves you so engaging to it you won't find a place where it drags. When the knots are unfurled you would feel how intriguing and interesting they are. As a fantasy writer, the author has lived n the realm of imagination to weave a magical story. The scientific and technical adventures at the time of war would definitely astound you. Its a story sans boring elements with memorable characters and a riveting plot.
The creativity the evocative language and the quick change of scenes are the reason to experience a benign read. The characters so etched out nicely .you like a guy for all his wit and wisdom, but he dies by the attack of a prudent foe. The gory, bloody with a great deal of realism fights in the arena remind you those fought in the battlefield with ferocity and unexpected finish.
The author has tackled the nitty-gritty of creating a fantasy world of new races with magical powers. The largest world of imagination with a complex sense. The destiny of one affects other's trajectory leading to the movement of the story with all the terror and horror.
Also the Eco-freindy attitude of the author reflects in all the scenes highlighting the natural resources and the love for animals. My favorite
I like the following chapters
1. Vaseegara Nadu
2.Ethirani
3. Karpour
Characterwise I admire both Senegal and Aravika. I like the way Verrachandrar trains his students and the competitors they face would astonish. The unethical methods of Vadumaran and proud would make me hate them. Among the supportive characters I like Deivasenar ,Gnani and Kavarathevan.
So many wise messages are sprinkled throughout the book. The succinct blurb gives an account of the nice story The font , paper quality and the printing are so good ,it makes the reading easy.
What I feel
How on the battlefield the soldiers belonging to the Kora Nadu can fight and simultaneously dig pits to conceal themselves in the night without the notice of the opponents?
A map would be a fitting addition and the drawings in color would be a great attraction.
My verdict.
Definitely, the book is great on the entertainment quotient and it would definitely give a great read for fans of fantasy novel belong to all generations. The author has put in all the efforts to include all the vibes and utilizing his scientific and technical knowledge to include so many ideas and information to engage us through the novel. This is one of the rarest of the rare book in Tamil in fantasy genre it would engage children, youth and elders as there are many thrillers and romance novels.
The concept is executed so nicely to give an edge of the script for a movie.
A must read by fantasy fans and others also would enjoy the novel.
Vaseegara Naadu by Samura is a Tamil fantasy novel.
About the story:
This story whirls around a war waged between two kingdoms, one is “Vaseegara Naadu” and the other one is “Gora Naadu”. Both territories were situated beside a huge river that divides the ocean and runs through it. Gora Naadu’s King Vadumaran possessed crab’s strength whereas Vaseegara Naadu possessed Turtles strength.
During their war, the Commander in Chief “Senganal” allies with Vaseegara Naadu and fights against his own territory of Gora Naadu. But Vadumaran with the help of Porimudi does various tactics and strategies to win the war.
What happens next? Who will win the battle? Will Porimudi’s strategy help Vadumaran to achieve his victory? Lies the suspense of the story.
About the book:
The plot of the story is amazing. This is my first Tamil fantasy Novel. I have read Tamil books related to Urainadai, Thunai Paadam and Seiyul during my school days. The abstraction of the story astonished me at many places.
I really liked the strong bonding between Vadumaran and Porimudi. Pormudi the master mind behind waging a war, applied his exemplary war skills to defeat the opponent territory.
We can see illustrations in certain places, which is an added flavor for our imagination. You can find twist and turns in this story leaving us with goosebumps.
The pacing of the story is precise and intact. When I first started this book, I felt its bit huge, but it was so intriguing which made me to complete it so fast.
I would recommend this book to all Tamil readers who are passionate about Tamil novels. Overall the book brings a magical touch in our hearts and leaves a good impression forever. I would like to rate 4/5 for this fantasy fiction.
Vaseegaranadu gave me an awesome experience and it was totally worth
It took a week for me to read and it took a day or two to read initial 4-5 chapters. Veerasandhra game contests are very interesting. It set the pace for my rest of book reading. I liked sengkanal, iladheeran and suruli friendship those days. Mandabamalaiyetram contest for the most catchy for me.
Koranadu and Vaseegaranadu war strategies and incidents during the battle are enjoyable. I could witness many twists and turns on the way. It was a roller coaster ride overall with many fantasy aspects... Kudos to the Authors and wish him to write many more such fantasy stories in future.
