Sudama's gift was small and inexpensive, but Krishna found it priceless as it came with selfless love. Krishna, who had both wealth and fame at his command, received it with pure joy. Life had taken the two friends on different paths, and Sudama was now painfully poor. Their affection overcame all differences, however. A simple meal became equal to a luxurious feast - and magically turned a poor hut into a mansion of gold.
Sudama by Kamala Chandrakant is an outstanding book which clearly explains one of Krishna's pastimes with his very good friend Sudama. The story begins when they were still young children and were asked to collect some firewood. As they set out in the forest to get some, a horrible storm broke out and they had to hide in a tree. Sudama's mum gave him some nuts to share with Krishna. When hiding away, Sudama didn't give any nuts to Krishna, putting him in a temporary curse. He gets married to a Brahman girl & gets lots of children but slowly things go downhill. He slowly can't afford stuff for his children or wife and ends up in poverty. One day Sudama's wife whispered something in his ear asking him something. What could it be? The ending is sure to warm your heart and is great for teaching kids about worshipping the Divine Lord. I recommend this book for all age groups and I hope you have fun reading!
