A carbon copy of her husbands book but filled with more religious themes. In essence: a hot stinking pile of pseudoscience, gay conversion therapy garbage and cherry picking. Neil Whitehead is also a member of NARTH, a widely discredited organization that peddles lies about gay conversion therapy, with even notable founders coming out against its practices. NARTH has been criticised by even evangelical Christians!

They constantly refer to old studies which are now considered garbage. They also refer to a 1978 sample of men who attended sex clubs and claim that it’s representative of the sex lives of gay men.

I was NOT surprised to find many scientists take issue with the claims of the Whiteheads.

For example, Neil claims that brain plasticity proves homosexuality is merely a learned habit, with this QUOTE:
"London taxi drivers have an enlarged area of the brain dealing with navigation. Is this innate? No. London bus drivers on set routes did not have this enlarged area, and on retirement of the taxi drivers, the brain area involved diminished. Taxi-drivers were not born that way, but developed the brain area through huge amounts of navigation and learning, and only maintained it through constant use."

Dr Warren Throckmorton hilariously took him to task with this response: "Do we have any research that demonstrates brain areas which enlarge based on frequent sex? Or straight sex or gay sex? I know of none and the Whiteheads offer none but this appears to be what they are suggesting. They also suggest that gay and straight sex might bulk up different brain areas thus reflecting activity rather than causing it. I know of no research which indicates different brain areas for sexual arousal. This study by Safron et al seems to provide evidence against such an idea."

There is absolutely no evidence of sexual acts enlarging grey matter in the sex-related parts of the brain. This man is making claims that are far outside of his sphere of scientific understanding and goes to show that merely having a degree does not make you qualified. He completely ignores the scientific method and makes a fool of himself.

The whiteheads's obsession with homosexuality is bizarre but not surprising. They seem to have dedicated a sizable portion of their career to the topic in some kind of defensive and pseudoscientific manner that really makes you wonder what’s mentally wrong with them. They profit off of misinformation and have translated their pseudoscience into multiple languages so it will be spread around the world, and used to treat gay people poorly. Just disgusting and ungodly! Amoral in every sense of the world.

This book is great for those who need inner healing or for having an understanding of those that do and how to help. There were some parts I didn't enjoy reading just because of the nature of sin, but overall it gave a lot of practical instruction for individuals, churches and parents.

There were times of sweeping generalizations and assumptions that weren't connected to facts. But overall a great read to understand how the church should respond, and how we ALL have a love deficit that needs to be filled by God.
