What do you get when you mix Iceland, sales, a great and witty writer and a pinch of Viking philosophy? Well, here it is! A great motivational book about how business and personal success is about not giving up, learning the sales strategies in everyday life and surviving harsh weather (avalanches, anyone?) literally and metaphorically. It has a summary of lessons at the end of each chapter and is a great read for anyone venturing into the business world or life in general.

Gunnar Andri shares his turbulent life, his childhood and his experiences, and through his story he shares very important messages.

From a very young age he started making his own money by selling newspaper, then selling books and that was like a chain that grew with his age. He experienced failure many times than we can count, but his spirit wasn't ruined. Every time he failed something, he learned the new lesson rather than being discouraged. With every single fall he was motivated to go for more and eventually he succeeded. Maybe that road wasn't very pleasant and many people wouldn't choose to continue, but he always had his head up and was pushing forward no matter what.

I was so excited to read this book, because from the cover and what I knew about the book, I thought that it's going to be an interesting read. Not only it was interesting, but it's one of the most motivational and well written books I've ever read.

Even though, at first sign it appears to be a book about sales and business, this book is something more than that. After reading it, the reader will have more knowledge about herself/himself and the life that's surrounding her/him. It's about everyone who wants to change for the better.

The author is from Iceland and he also shares old tales and stories from there. It was so interesting to read about another country and it's culture. Iceland is known for the widespread volcanoes and we can see how they affect its residents lives. And what I found the most interesting is the wisdom of the viking philosophy for conquering the challenges of life.

Interesting, adventurous, motivational and page-turning book. I really enjoyed reading it. It became one of my favorite books that I've ever read.

REVIEW: Message from the Middle of Nowhere by Gunnar Andri

In this book, Gunnar Andri derives lessons from his turbulent life. Since he was 6, he was a paperboy. He would sell newspapers in the streets. He then went on to become one of the key players in the business of sales in Iceland, teaching individuals and organizations with lectures and seminars for thousands of students.

The book mixes new wisdom with the ancient Viking Philosophy. It's a surprising story of success and failure, of the ART OF SALES and SUCCESSFUL LIVING.

However, his story wasn't always sunshine and rainbows. He hit the bottom many times, he saw his life get upset by unexpected events. This book shows you how to deal with setbacks, temporary failures, and natural disasters (Remember: he is from Iceland).

Some messages that have resonated with me:

1. If you don’t ask the question, the answer will always be no;
2. Sell a product that you know well;
3. You have to go ALL IN, you have to DO instead of TRY because trying is lying;
4. When you hit the bottom the only way is up.
5. Never quit, not even when everything seems at its worst

My thoughts on this book:

I repeat this here, the best lessons are taught through stories, and Gunnar does a brilliant job with deriving messages of life and sales from his life experience. I rarely feel so excited with a story that is teaching you lessons for self-development, but when it came to this book, I felt a fire of enthusiasm while reading it.

Actually I'm a fiction lover. I rarely read non fiction but reading this one was a different experience. This book is written in a different way. We didn't feel that we are reading a nonfiction book. The author had beautifully written his life experiences like a story. It feels like reading a beautiful Icelandic tale.
This is a deep insightful book about the journey of the author from a poor newspaper boy to a great Icelandic leading salesman. Usually I will not put a mark on my books but for the first time I've used highlighter in this book😅😂. The book is full of messages that will help in our life. I really enjoyed this one. I've never went outside India, but this book gave me a feeling that I've visited Iceland. The beauty of Iceland is nicely explained in this book. I've recommended this book to my friends before finishing it. Reading this one will be an asset in our life. In my opinion everyone should read this book.

This book... I mean... wow. Let me introduce myself. I'm M. Puig, and I'm the kind of person who is not really a book reader and that have read hundreds of books. I only read those who catch my attention and/or aviation-related books. By the way, I have never wrote a book review before, so please forgive any mistakes I make.

Around mid-2018 I became fascinated and enamored of Iceland through videos, photographs, and talking to residents. I have never been to Iceland, but it is definitely my dream to go there soon. This is where this book comes into my life. I noticed it was from Icelandic author Gunnar Andri (which by the way, I have never heard from him before), and was intrigued to read his book, hoping it would bring a more detailed insight into life and marvels of the land of fire and ice.

I will not spoil you the book. But if you are the kind of person that it is intrigued not only to insights of Iceland, but also to learn some business skills, adventure yourself into the crazy first-hand stories of Mr. Thorisson, and to enjoy a good read, then this is a book for you. I've read this book twice, and up to three times chapters that I like the most. The book is informative, accurate, wild, attention-grabbing, educational, etc.

I learned so much about Iceland, the adventures engulfing Mr. Thorisson, and the motivation and business skills I so much needed to switch my life into the journey I am now. All I can say is, thanks to the personal touch and lessons learned from 'Message From The Middle Of Nowhere', I was able to achieve so many things in the past couple of years, which led me to amazing journeys and experiences in my professional career and personal life, and even fresh-starting a small business.

So, I believe this book can have an impact on you. Order it, read it, share it.

Introduction:

Have you ever read a nonfiction book that reads like fiction yet is filled with numerous life lessons? Well, this is one such book.

I was thinking at first that it's going to be another self help book with boring lectures but turns out it's one of the most exciting books you will ever read.

Message From The Middle of Nowhere is a wonderful collaboration of Gunnar's life experiences since childhood and the things he has learned from his years of experience in sales. Gunnar is great at selling (as he says in the book) and he started selling when he was a little boy who started with distributing newspapers to earn some extra bucks.

Gunnar has shared how he became one of the most successful people in Iceland even after coming from a very poor family, both financially and mentally. However, his grandmother always taught me that knowledge is power and it can never be taken away from you which later became the ground rule of Gunnar's life.

What I loved the most about this book is that the writing style is so smooth and engaging that consuming and remembering the lessons is easier. 

Things I have learnt:

Be ready to face the challenges because you can save yourself from one thing not from all the problems life is going to throw at you.

Be mentally strong and don't make belief that work against you

You are always selling something so why not become good at it?

Life is never going to be a fairytale so you better be prepared for the adversity

Gain knowledge because it's only asset that will help you make more asset

Life is short and you never know who you are going to lose so make the most out of this little time you have 

I liked reading the book and I would recommend you to go for this if you are looking for a light read that can give you a push to achieve your goal.

The author has over 20 years of experience specializing in self development in which he builds a bridge between you and the answer. Remember a good teacher will never give answers but build a bridge between you and the answer.

The most interesting thing about the book is that once you pick it up it is difficult to put it down without finishing the book. There are a total of 12 valuable lessons and a bonus chapter at the end. Each chapter is full of inspiration, wisdom and prepares you to step out of your comfort zone.

After reading this book, I googled about Iceland and the “Icelanders” because Gunnar Andri not only described everything about this country and it’s people so beautifully but also shared his own experience and journey in becoming the best salesman of Iceland.

Amongst the natural disasters, boom and failures, countless pleasant and unpleasant things that came on its way he was still able to achieve lots of success. Not only this but his triumph was being noticed all over the world and Iceland was given the honorary title of ‘the fastest growing country in the world’, and Gunnar’s team were referred as the ‘Rock Stars of Iceland’.

Today I agree totally with authors quote: “Knowledge is an asset that can never be taken from you, and If you want to earn more, you have to learn more.“ Failure can create both negative and a positive impact but if you choose a right path, stand up again then this failure becomes an experience and you gain a strength to move on. This message is very nicely narrated through Gunnar’s life experience.

To conclude; this book will provide you Gunnar’s sales secrets, a little sneak peek into the art of achieving quality sales and how travel broadens one’s horizon by all means.

An outstanding life story of the author which gives many life lessons.

The book is the author’s life story in his own words. The author shares how he started as a salesperson as a little kid by selling newspapers to how he ended up being the greatest salesman in Iceland. The road to success however was never smooth for him and through the book he shares how he overcame every struggle life threw at him.

In the book, the author tells the readers what he learned from his decades-long sales experience with life-altering life lessons. Filled with amazing quotes and insights into his beautiful country of Iceland, the book provides a completely new view on sales and life. The language used by the author is very simple and easy to understand. The lessons are also filled with interesting stories of trolls and Vikings, elves, ghosts, and fortune-tellers. There is a summary provided at the end of each chapter for quick reference and to reinforce the lessons shared in the chapters. The book teaches you to never give up and how your mindset can help you get whatever you want in life.

Message from the Middle of Nowhere is a non fiction book of around 230 pages based on business and life. The language used is lucid and narration is amazing.

Have you ever been to Iceland? Do you have any plans to start any business? Well, this book is a complete package of transforming yourself if you need to run a business. Author has shared his own story in this book that how he started his journey by selling newspapers in his childhood to becoming a great sales coach, that too without any degree(super inspiring for me). His journey is indeed inspiring and motivating. He is from Iceland, hence, you can read about this country as well in this book. I am impressed after reading so many unknown facts about this place and glad to know about the unity among people of Iceland. Reading all of those was like I am travelling in Iceland. Some books hold the power to take you to new places and this book is one of them.

How you can stay motivated while running a business or even if you are thinking to start, this book can help you. I liked the way that after each chapter, he mentioned the highlighted points at one place. Even a beginner can read this book. The narration is super amazing and the book is fast paced for me. 💫"It doesn't matter what you do, just aim to become the best in your business"💫

✨The book is a life journey of author where he gave the insights of how he started his sales business by distributing newspaper as a kid to make some extra money and how he achieved the success through wisdom of ancient vikings.

✨This book being a biography of author's life gives too many life lessons to be successful in life and in business. It is a inspiring story of how failures hits in authors life and how he got over each failure with a different mindset in contrast to his family and achieved his goal.

✨The lessons in book motivated me and honestly I don't think any book on life can be better than this one. It now became one of my favourite books. The book have both lessons on life and sales intertwined with stories made it most interesting trapping the reader to read it without any breaks. There were stories on elves, ghosts, fortune tellers, vikings etc and interesting facts about Iceland. Also, lessons were summarized at the end of each chapter which makes it more helpful guide for readers to keep track and to make short notes on the book.

The author through his book shares stories that are based on real events from his own life. Each story offers a lesson to be learned and followed in life and your business ventures. The book inspired me from the very first chapter in which the author shares a story from his childhood. Author’s story from working as a newspaper seller boy, who grew up in poverty to become the best known salesman in Iceland is truly inspiring.

The book motivates you to think big and gain courage to achieve anything in life. It consists of 12 chapters. Each chapter presents some key lessons to takeaway from that story which you should keep reminding yourself. By keeping these lessons in mind, it will fill you with positive energy to move forward in the right direction to achieve your goals. In the end of the book author provides his sales secrets- ‘Five easy steps to Quality Sales’.

I like reading real life experiences of people. There’s so much to learn from them. The writing style is smooth and easy to understand. When life lessons are presented in form of real stories it becomes powerful and hard to forget.

I picked up Message From The Middle of Nowhere because the title itself intrigued me, and I’m glad I did. Gunnar Andri has a wonderfully simple way of putting his thoughts across — every chapter is clear, practical, and ends with neat summaries that make the lessons stick.

Take books that I think highly of like The Magic of Thinking Big, The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari among many other self-help books I've read, and throw them all into one as this book truly has every possible valuable point to implement into your life for that will unquestionably make a difference!

It is a great easy read and written in an exciting page-turning autobiography layout which will keep you interested cover to cover!

It’s okay. Fell a bit flat on its purpose. Loved the end of chapter summaries and enjoyed learning about bits of Icelandic culture. Definitely focused on sales.
