Drowning In Reverse is a poetry book about love, loss, overcoming challenges, and healing. It takes the reader on a journey through the author's intensely personal experience to apply the healing salve of poetry to the reader's own life.
this needs to be rewritten and reformatted. the poems are too close together so i don't know when one starts and the other ends. then there's the fact that it's mostly just tweets put on a page.
Drowning in Reverse was one of the options listed when I looked to see if one of the authors I really loved and enjoyed reading last year, Adeline Whitmore, had any new books this year and since she didn’t, I thought this would be a good book to try since I figured that reason Amazon recommended it must be that it was similar in some way to Ms Whitmore’s books. Anyway, I can see why they were put together and I’m here for it! I really enjoyed reading Drowning in Reverse, I think it is an excellent debut collection from this author — they did an awesome job! The poems were beautiful, deep, and easy to understand. I’m glad malia k. auri published this and I hope they put out more because I’ll definitely read it!
A little disappointing. There is very little true poetry in this book. Almost no metaphors, personifications, etc. It is more like a great advice book for someone moving out on their own, going off to college, etc. "Find someone who loves you for you." "If you have to ask if you are in love, then you're not." Despite this, I gave it three stars because it is one of the most professional-looking self-published books I have ever seen . . . and I've seen a lot! Additionally, the cover is just spectacular! The cover is more well done than almost all self-published books I've seen and even some traditionally published books.
It discusses self love, sexual assault, inequality, and other social issues which i greatly enjoyed. It helps feel not so alone in this mess. I loved it.
