Forever in Fire is book #3.1 in the Hot in Chicago series by Kate Meader. This is a very short novella that needs to be read after you have read the rest of the series. It mainly focuses on Eli and Alex but you will also see the rest of the characters you have grown to love. It’s Christmas and the Dempsey clan is up to their usual antics. Alex and Eli are their usual funny, sweet, swoony selves. This little book was the perfect way to wrap up this series. I have grown to adore these characters so much and it’s hard to let them go.

So much love for Eli, Alexandra and the Dempsey family.
I laughed, I swooned, even shed a few tears, this has been such a heartwarming series, loved it and highly recommend it!

Lo peor es que he pagado casi un euro por este relato, que no llega a cincuenta páginas. Trata, básicamente, de embarazo y boda. Apasionante 🙄 Ya sé que a la gente le gusta ver el HEA de sus héroes, pero a mí todo eso de bodas y maternidad me sobra, yo lo que busco en romántica es el enamoramiento, la pasión, el salseo, y de eso aquí na de na.
Va de que Alex & Eli se embarazan y que Gage & Brady se van a casar. Además, me da un poquito de cosa la naturalidad con que en EE. UU. se habla, así, de pasada, como quien no quiere la cosa, de vientres de alquiler 😠 O sea, no es mi tipo de historia ni de lejos.
Y solo se justifica por: 1) esta obsesión mía de rematar una serie que me parece muy buena, y 2) la forma de escribir de Kate Meader es tan suelta que me engancha incluso cuando lo que cuenta me importa un pimiento.

Alex's sexy surprise to her husband doesn't turn quite the way she imagined it.

It's obvioulsy best to have read the Hot In Chicago series to appreciate more this really short story but if not, you're still gonna fall for these characters . And if you're a fan of sexy and sweet contemporary romance you got to give the series a try because it's so good !! A closed-knit family of firefighting foster siblings really, what more can you ask for ? And did I said hot,sexy and lovable ?

I liked it. It's absolutely not a standalone, so I would recommend at least reading Playing with Fire, which features Alex and Eli, because this novella is mostly about them. Since they were my favorite couple, I was pretty happy to spend a little more time with them.



Also, it's more of an extended epilogue than a full story, but that makes sense considering it began as a short story for Ms. Meader's Facebook group. It's not a huge time investment and it's a freebie, so I think it's worth the read, especially if you're a longtime fan. I enjoyed myself.

Alexandra is as prickly as ever, but she’s a good match for Eli and his control-freak personality. But Gage is still my favorite!

The Dempsey’s are a riot! The closeness, the hilarity, the sexiness, the unconditional love and support.. this holiday short had all the feels!

Fans of Hot in Chicago series will love this novella.  Such a treat to get a glimpse of the Dempseys.   I love seeing the “ever after” part of books I’ve read, and Meader gave her readers just that.   

Catching up with Alexandra and Eli as their HEA continues.  Time for the next step as the wedding day approaches, but Alex won’t make it easy on Eli.  Of course not, she will throw him a curb ball, which he will deal with the ever loving grace of a man in love.  He’s so awesome.

I absolutely loved everything about this short story.  Alex and Eli are such sweethearts and they make me laugh.  Gage also gets page time that is well deserved.  I’m hoping to get more of his story.  

Meader did a great job fitting in a quick catch up with all the siblings, funny moments, and a romantic ending in this itty bitty short story.  Unfortunately, this novella, if you can call it that, is way too short for my liking. I wish there was more to read.  But hey, it’s free on Amazon so, I shouldn’t complain.  I’m just happy I got to read more of the Dempseys.  Thanks, Ms. Meader.

Perfect!

Exactly what I needed...a little bit of Dempsys to make my holiday complete. This is not the Hot in Chicago book to start with, but if you've read the series already (especially Alex and Eli and Gage and Brady's stories) you'll love it!

My Favorites

Alex and Eli are my favorite of all Kate Meader’s couples. This story, their wedding story is one of my go-to’s when I need a lift. I love Alex Dempsey’s pure strength and she is the one person that can knock a smooth-talking politico off his game. Just a little.

Forever in Fire though is the gift that keeps on giving - sure it’s a holiday story, but it’s more. It’s an affirmation of the power of these characters - all of them

Perfect Short Novella Wrap-Up

Easy to give this one 5 stars. Perfect novella that wrapped up 2 more couples. I love these four, and this novella made me fall deeper for Alex and Eli. He is so gone for her and he brings out such a vulnerable side of her (while appreciating her strength). I love these four dynamics of both couples and I’m just so happy to see them both get their HEAs.

I really enjoyed experiencing this short read. It's another edition that tells the story of the Dempsey's, the varied hodgepodge of a firefighting family based in Chicago. It has a holiday theme and is a fantastic way to finish off the Hot in Chicago series with the Dempsey clan. I'd recommend this novella to anyone that is a fan of firefighters and steamy romances.
