NOTHING TO LOSE...

A former Magistrate in the grim world of post-holocaust America, Kane cuts his ties to the ruling order and is launched on a reluctant quest to uncover the truth about a bitter enmity that haunts humanity. He knows the answer is out there - beyond the garrisoned cities, the Outlands' hellzones, the ancient seats of planetary power.

LOST HORIZON

Barely ahead of a Grudge task force, Kane and his fellow exiles venture from Cerberus redoubt to the hellzones and other global hotspots via the mat-trans units.

But something truly shocking is lying in wait for them at their next stop, a predark space station. For here time is running down, close to zero hour of a deadly plan devised long ago that would also swallow the Earth whole.

In the Outlands, the future is an eternity of hell...

Parallax Red was an act of repetitiveness. Kane rushes head-first into dire situations. Brigid, for the main part, stays level-headed even under the threat of rape. Grant continues to fend off our albino lady-friend, Domi, and Lakeesh is only focused on the future of mankind to the detriment of his morals.

In this read we meet some Martians that may hold a key weapon that could possibly stop the alien barons and their control over humans. However, the alien leader is mad and not likely to share his power.

I like the world and the baddies that surface in the Outlands. I would just love to see more forward movement like the first 3 books.

I'll be moving on to the next.

The fifth book in the Outlanders series is out of this world - literally. After the gang is sent to Washington Hole to investigate the reactivation of a long dead mat-trans unit, they discover more than they bargain for when they end up in a base on the far side of the moon.

They are shortly captured by mutated space ‘trolls’, adapted humans who live on Mars and are controlled by one of the best bad guys in the series yet- the dwarf Sindri. He is actually a sort of sympathetic character, at least at first, as he seems to be trying to stop the extinction of the trolls but of course he just turns out to be a murderous little bastard. I’m sure we will see more of him in future episodes as he left quite a surprise for the Cerberus team at the end.

I really liked some of the concepts in this book - especially the infrasound weapons and the ancient history of Mars and how it’s tied into the Archon Directorate. Mr. Ellis is exploring many concepts that are in the modern zeitgeist now nut were considered conspiracy theory territory when he wrote the novels back in the late 90s. The molecular disruptor weapon was very original and interesting as well.

Overall another excellent addition to the Outlanders series!

Set in the same world as the Deathlands series. These books follow another set of adventures in the post holocaust world. Good men's adventures series. Recommended
