What happens when a lioness with dubious accounting practices gets involved with an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service?
How was Melly supposed to know she shouldn’t claim illegal ammo on her taxes? So what if she took a few liberties with the term “allowable expenses”? Her creative accounting is why the IRS ends up on her doorstep. Lucky for her, they sent the cutest geek in glasses.
The kind that tempts a girl to fling them clear across the room that she might better maul him.
Silly man thinks he can play hard to get. Doesn’t he know a lioness always gets what she wants?
Problem is, Theo sees more than he’s supposed to. Worse, he poses a threat to the pride.
Can she distract him from the truth, or will his digging force her to assume her role of huntress?
Hello, my name is Eve Langlais and I am an International Bestselling author who loves to write hot romance, usually with werewolves, cyborgs or aliens .
I should warn you, I have a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor something I like to let loose in my writing. While well known for my shifter stories, I am also extremely partial to aliens, the kind who like to abduct humans and then drive them insane...with pleasure. Or do you like something a little darker, more serious? Then check out my cyborgs whose battle with humanity have captivated readers worldwide.
“Don’t worry, nerd boy. I am going to rock your world.”
I absolutely love this series. This is Melly and Theo's story. Then is an IRS agent sent in to investigate the pride. Melly is well Melly lol the baddest lioness around according to her lol. When these two clash it hilarious until it turns deadly. With Theo snooping into pride business and Melly trying to get in his paints things aren't going to end well. Or will they?
* You can read this as a standalone, even though the inner bonds between the lionesses are clearer when you read the other books in the series.
Pride Huntress and hacker Melly has a big problem. Due to some creative accounting, she finds the IRS on her doorstep and Pride King Arik is not happy about it. But then the IRS send the cutest geek in the country and Melly knows she has to take his mind of things to protect the Pride secrets. Theo knows something is not adding up in Melly's taxes and he is determined to get to the bottom of it. What he didn't know is that setting foot on pride lands means that they will take his life to protect their secrets.
Pro's: + As always the pride ladies take the cake again in this story. Slightly violent, witty and not taking shit from anybody, they just go and do as they please and Melly for certain only respects Arik as their leader. The dynamics in the pride are always very fun to read about and of course the lionesses get into a lot of trouble in this entry.
Con's: - Oh men, this romance was boring and not fun at all. First there is tons of resistance by Theo and then suddenly they are having sex? And then they are suddenly mated? I maybe have missed it but this romance made no sense at all. - Theo is one uninteresting male lead. Written with all the geek stereotypes, full of allergies and boring AF, I couldn't be bothered to care about him for one bit. Also in the end he suddenly becomes some type of sports hero, between all the shifters. Damn lol and haha no.
Okay, this is one entry in this series that shouldn't have been in existence. In comparison to the previous stories very boring and we wouldn't miss anything if it wasn't there. So much happened and nothing made sense, therefore I was really confused by the romance and the male lead in general. In being less that 200 pages, it was an easy read so I'm glad I got through it and now being able to put it away and out of my mind.
Jesus Melly is a hoot, “*** to clear my good tax name would have had meaning, not to mention I probably would have found god or some other deity when you were inside me.” Melly must be proud of her man, impressing her biatches like that, "he eyed her. “We do this my way.” The biatches oohed at his commanding tone, which caused him to blush." Melly's threats tend to have meaning with them, “me, too, but FYI, touch the pecan pie on the nightstand and I will tear out your guts.” Then she proceeded to show him how much she enjoyed said pie by licking it off his ***k." This is my favorite series by this author and she didn't disappoint with installment.
Theodore "Theo" Loomer, an auditor for the IRS who had been given the most complicated cases. He was assigned to the Pride's case cause his office didn't like what they saw on their taxes. He found himself at the door of the most beautiful and intriguing woman he'd ever seen. He knew that she was different that all the previous women he'd met, he just didn't know how different. She broke his glasses and then he saw something that didn't truly make any sense to him. So he knew what he had to do....investigate.
Melly Goldeneyes, a free spirit who didn't believe in being tied down with things like receipts or allowable expenses. One day the IRS came knocking on her door, more like he walked into her den. The man wasn't what she was expecting but he was very nice on the eyes. For a geek that was. She found him very fascinating.
Oops but there was one problem or maybe two, he was allergic to cats and he refused all her advances. Yet the attraction between was undeniable, they gave into it which was well viewed by the people in their lives. Arik (WHEN AN ALPHA PURRS) wanted her to take care of Theo, she couldn't do it. He turned out to be more than beneath the eyes.
His lies nearly cost him the woman he loved, Melly told him all about her inner animal and him being her mate. She finally got her HEA.
WHEN A LIONESS HUNTS is the 8th book in Eve Langlais' LION'S PRIDE series. Ooh this was one engrossing, humorous and captivating journey. This series keeps getting better and better with each book. Eve Langlais did an excellent job! 5++++
Great book Really enjoyed listening to this book. Theo is such a perfect MC. He’s a nerdy IRS worker busting people who cheated on the tax return. He’s by the book and a good guy. But there’s more to him than meets the eye. Melly is a lioness who slowly falls for him. They make a cute couple and I liked all their interactions. They have fun banters and I literally laughed out loud at some of their antics. They also have some sweet moments. This is a fun and easy read with no angst. The plot is intriguing and I liked how there’s a mystery with the IRS side of things and how Theo was really investigating more than tax fraud. I liked it so much, I can see me listening to this again. I recommend!
Loved this! I'm so glad Eve kept going with this series. This was fun, hilarious and sexy. It works as a standalone but you'll absolutely want to go back and read the others after this one. I cannot wait for the next two books announced at the end! Definitely recommend this one to paranormal romance readers. Great work, Eve!
I could not finish this one - it was so choppy, disjointed and unrealistic (yes I know how that sounds when describing a shifter book) There was no connection between the characters.
I’m also bugged by the whole - he keeps saying no to sex and she keeps pushing - if the roles were reversed we’d be screaming about consent
While it's part of a series, it works fine as a standalone. I'm a huge paranormal romance/shifter fan,and while this was not my firtst book in this series, I think I enjoyed the previous ones more.
The book is about Melly and Theo. Theo is an IRS agent, sent to audit Melly, who is a lioness, and finds out she is involved with an illegal arms dealer in addition to tax fraud.
It was funny and there was some action scenes. The romance felt a little bit rushed for me.
In all, this was not a bad book, but for me it was lacking something more.
3.5 STARS. Short and easy read. Not quite sure why this missed the mark for me. I just found it lacking the silly humour I usually enjoy for most of the story, though the end did pick up. Mainly, I just didn’t feel a connection between Melly and Theodore, romantic or anything else. They just ended mated, seemingly by accident, with no discussion, actions, or feelings involved. And the whole IRS thing, which could have been really funny, but fell flat, even with the twist about Theo. Maybe because Melly gave up so much information which was hazardous to shifters and that she put Theo in danger. Yes, he could handle himself but Melly didn’t know that.
Love these books.. if u need a little laugh with ur steam you have to read these books. They are hilarious. This one was a little different in the fact that the H was human... but I'm really glad Eve paired Melly with a geeky yet solid guy like Theo. They balanced each other out and it let's you see that even geeks have a primal side when it comes to their woman... rawr!
I kinda love it when this author writes a steamroller heroine, but this chick is coming off as stupid, desperate, and scummy. While there is literally nothing to endear me to the hero aside from the fact that he didn't let a sleazy woman bribe him with blowjobs. Do not like.
I absolutely loved this story. Mellie deserved to have a great relationship with. Lots of laughs and missions. 😂😂. I loved the characters and storyline so much. It was nice how they took care of each other. On to the next story of this series. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗💜💜💜💜💜🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I’m not entirely sure why Im still reading the series. It just keeps getting stranger and stranger. And not in a good way. Cheesy, that’s what this book is. Cheesy.
I've forgotten how light, silly and fun these books are. Just the panacea for these weird times when you just want a couple of hours downtime and not want to think about anything else.
