I blinked rapidly, the intense white of the explosion still hovering, ghost-like, in my vision. It all seemed unreal. Whoever was in that car was dead. Right before my eyes… Clearly I had no monopoly on death, this evening.

DON’T GET CAUGHT.

Joe Whitelow is 13. ‘K’ is 18. Joe’s small for his age. K’s tall and strong. Joe’s almost blond. K’s hair is dark. He’s a Believer. Joe’s a bit vague about what that even means. But they do have one thing in common. They both need to get out of the EuroBloc. Or die.

Another great book from Corinna Turner! My only complaint is that it ended too quickly!

Brothers can serve either as an introduction to the I Am Margaret series or as another peek into the dystopian world Margaret inhabits. Brothers features Margo's brother Kyle as he travels to Vatican City in anticipation of entering seminary. Along the way, he picks up a little brother of sorts, another victim of the government's vile system of sorting and registration.

Filled with bravery and compassion, Brothers is a touching, short read that will whet your appetite for more of the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed Corinna Turner’s I AM MARGARET dystopian series. I believe it is the job of a dystopian to get readers thinking about the relevance of current trends and ideologies, and the impact they could have on our future. Well-written dystopians can serve as warnings and inspire us to be the light in a dark generation. The entire I AM MARGARET series does this so well. It gives me so much to think about, including in this novella, which is a great introduction to the series or a bonus for those who have already read the series.

Corinna truly knows how to create solid characters, a sense of urgency, and a well-developed dystopian world. In this story, I enjoyed meeting a new character and following one that I got to know through the I AM MARGARET series. I love how Catholic elements are weaved into the plot because any true change in a person or society must affect not only the physical but the spiritual, the complete person. This story rings with beautiful messages of faith, forgiveness, and trust, and powerfully demonstrates that we, as members of the Body of Christ, belong to one spiritual family.

Having read the first two books in this series, I decided to read this one next (which takes place before the events of book one, I Am Margaret). Oh, my heart! What a powerful story of love and redemption! Corinna Turner writes those themes like few others ever have and is so good at touching my heart. (Hint, keep a tissue handy.) I recommend at least reading Book 1 first, and this shorter story will make an even greater impact!

A short story but more powerful than most novels. Corinna Turner has given us another glimpse into the dystopian world of her I Am Margaret series. This small novella is incredible - touching, moving, heart-breaking, and action-packed. Perfection.

This short novella is an extension of the incredible I Am Margaret series. The series is one of my favorite reads over the past few years. And Corinna Turner is fast becoming one of my favorite fiction authors. She currently has works out in three series and soon two stand alone works. I have read almost everything that she has published today, and think the writing is very good. My only fear is that her work will be prophetic. But her speculative fiction in this and her Tomorrow & Yesterday series present a bleak look for the future. But a look that we need to consider. For far too often life has ended up imitating art. But let's get back to this specific story.

This short story is an excellent read. For those familiar with the I Am Margaret series, or for those who just love short stories and want an introduction to this dystopian world. The story is told in alternating chapters by the two main characters Joe and K. Joe Whitelow is a young boy whose birth was unregistered, this means he is not a citizen, he is just spare parts and his number is up. But Joe did not know this fact until they came to collect him. K is Kyle Verrall, older brother of Margaret from the I am Margaret books. He is also trying to flee the EuroBloc and make his way to the Vatican Free State so that he can study to become a Priest and join the underground. He has spent a lot of time planning and preparing for this. But on the night he executes his plan things take a turn he never expected. Now Joe and K are travelling together trying to escape EuroBloc. The chapters sometimes tell current events, and sometimes the two remembering back, to give the back ground of how we ended up here.

This story deals with an oppressive government. Two strangers that are thrown together and must learn to trust each other. It is the story of learning when to forgive. And it is the story of learning about faith, and for one learning how to share your faith. It is also in a big way about trust.

This novella is an excellent read. I read it through twice. The day I got it and again the next morning because I could not stop thinking about it. It is more than strong enough to stand alone, but also fills in some back story for the I Am Margaret series. I highly recommend both this novella and the series so give it a try I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Tremendously inspiring! Unforgettable heroes, a heart-pounding plot, and action that literally never lets up. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough! This beautiful story of brotherly sacrifice in the face of horrendous odds is simply breathtaking. Impossible to not love God more after reading this wonderful novella.

A short but very moving novella that takes place before I Am Margaret, featuring her brother Kyle's attempt to flee the Erobloc with an unexpected companion.

It's an easy and very compelling read, with non-believer Joe playing a good counterpart to Kyle, it's quick but packed with faith, drama and tragedy.

The author recommended I start with this book, and it is an intriguing introduction to her "I am Margaret" series. It reminds me a bit of "The Elabi Chronicles" by Maressa Mortimer - a dystopian world in which being a Christian is fraught with danger.
