National Best-selling author Adrianne Byrd has always preferred to live within the realms of her imagination where all the men are gorgeous and the women are worth whatever trouble they manage to get into. As an army brat, she traveled throughout Europe and learned to appreciate and value different cultures. Now she calls Georgia home.

Looking back, Adrianne believes her passion for writing began at the ripe old age of thirteen. It was also the age when she was introduced to romance novels by a most unlikely source: her fifteen-year old brother. The book was probably given to keep her out her brother’s hair, but it was a gift that changed her life.

In books, Adrianne found a way out of her awkward teenage years and into a world of fictional friends that would stay with her for a lifetime. It wasn’t long before her imagination took flight and she was writing her own love stories. Within a year, she completed her first book, which she vowed would never see the light of day.

Writing remained a hobby until 1994 when a co-worker approached her with an article on Romance Writers of America. Who knew there was an organization of women just like her? By 1996 she sold her first novel, Defenseless, to Kensington Publishing.

Her first release received rave reviews by Romantic Times and fans. Her other novels were consistently selected as the Magazine’s Top Pick. In 2001 Slam Jam nominated, Say You Love Me, for best romance. Her 2003 release Comfort of a Man won Romantic Times Best Multicultural Romance, Romance in Color’s Readers Choice Awards for Favorite Book, Favorite Hero, and Favorite Heroine; Shades of Romance’s Best/Arabesque Romance Book; Slam Jams Emma Award for Favorite Traditional Romance; Romance in Color’s Reviewer’s Choice Award for Author of the Year, Book of the Year and Best BET/Arabesque Book. And lastly Comfort of a Man was a 2003 Georgia Romance Writers Maggie finalist for best Contemporary. In 2004 she released her first romantic suspense novel, If You Dare, with HarperCollins. In 2006 her novel Measure of a Man was nominated for Best Multicultural Romance while her Harper Torch novel Deadly Double was nominated for an Emma. In 2007 she won an eharlequin.com Joey Award.

In 2006 Adrianne along with fellow writer Niobia Bryant penned her first Urban Novel, DESPERATE HOODWIVES, writing as De'nesha Diamond. The book is set for release February 2008 from Simon and Schuster. For more information, visit http://www.deneshadiamond.com.

Ms. Byrd has been featured in many national publications, including Today’s Black Woman, Upscale, and Heart and Soul. She has also won local awards for screenwriting. For the future, she looks forward to continue creating characters that make people smile, laugh, and fall in love.

Definitely Above & Beyond The Call of Duty

Ms. Byrd has done it again! This book is AWESOME! Her "At Your Service" novel told a wonderful story about two intelligent, funny and very talented airmen! It had new love, extremely HOT intimate scenes, betrayal, suspense, and a love recaptured. This book was a page turner from beginning to end. The instant fireworks between Sydney and Jett made "Blue Skies" a thrilling romance novel. Sydney Garret was born to fly, her character was on point, she was a woman who didn't take "NO STUFF". I enjoyed the heated challenges between Sydney and Jett. Now Jett, "What a man"! Jett was "sexy as all get out". The man could challenge me anytime, anywhere, from the way Ms. Byrd described him, brotha', had it going on. I was really feelin' the chemisty between Syd and Jett. I also enjoyed the secondary characters, they only aided in adding more spice and sparks to this great military tale. This book was definitely a tear-jerker, and there were also moments where I couldn't help but LOL. Way to go, Ms. Byrd...Keep 'em coming!

Sydney “Serious” Garrett had a tough start when the first man she ever loved was taken from her…her father. That one defining moment changed everything about her, driving her to become one of the top fighter pilots to ever grace the blue skies.

Nothing in Sydney’s life could compare to the hardships faced by James “Jett” Colton. Jett grew up the gorgeous ugly duckling in the family. Growing up unloved by the people he loved the most made him a carefree playboy, leaving a string of broken hearts in his path.
When they both were selected to attend the Weapon School tactical training program, life was about to change for the both of them.

Ms. Byrd first of all brings a refreshing element by casting her heroine as a top gun. How often does that happen? Not only does Serious best her potential love interest, but everyone else in the program. Serious’ military career, the same as her father’s makes life outside of the military hard, but a chance meeting of the cocky fighter pilot, Jett makes her rethink life outside of the military. The rocky competitive start between these two lets the reader know that when the fireworks finally fly, they better duck for cover.

After a seriously quick and intense romance the two find themselves separated for three years. THREE YEARS!!! As we all know, military personnel are reassigned all the time and a chance reassignment gives Jett the one opportunity he’s been waiting for to win Serious back, only to find her plane has been shot down over enemy territory.
The only drawback I found was the constant jumps between time. At first it was a little confusing to keep up with the action. I quickly adjusted, but I think the flow would have gone a little better if the story was reorganized into three parts: the take-off, the flight, and the landing.

Overall, I really enjoyed all the elements of the story. Ms. Byrd brings you into the life of fighter pilots who find a lastly love that survives not only battles on the field but battles of the heart. It is definitely well worth the read! So, Blue Skies by Adrianne Byrd get 4 out of 5 pencils because a female top gun ROCKS!!

Part of the Arabesque At Your Service series, BLUE SKIES is the story of two Air Force fighter pilots that marry in haste. After living apart for a few years they meet again when the wife is shot down over North Korea. This is an excellent story however, I want to warn readers that the romance is told in a flashback format. If you don't have a problem with jumping from the present to three years prior repeatedly then you will love this story and its characters.

OMG! Was my first reaction to this most-endearing love story! Sydney "Serious" Garrett certainly learned that true love is hard to find but once you do you should hold onto it for dear life. I love how her and Captain James Colton found true love but it came at the price of near death on both of their parts. This was an Awesome/Must read love story that Adrianne Byrd wrote excellently! Well Done as always!

This airwoman has sacrificed much to do the thing she loves. She has also now sacrifice her life which will draw in the one man she did not expect to see again.

Bryd gives a beautiful story of love and desire for a person and a passion for an activity. This leads two to something they both would grow to cherish.

What a gem of a book! I found it at a used book store a while back and just got around to reading it this weekend.

Ms. Byrd really outdid herself with this book. The writing the flawless, the characters had depth and were very likeable and the chemistry between Sydney and Jett was seriously oozing off the pages! I wish I could find more romances like this.

Lovely read... There is truth to the lesson of love in this book. Love can surely be found and lost in the same breath. I really love the fact that kismet played a nice role in Jett's and Sydney's reunion, all under the blue sky where their love was first sparked. This was a wonderful story!

This was a beautiful, heart-wrenching story.  Jett and Sydney were sweet together though I will say the end had my heart beating a mile a minute.
