Amy Sumida is the Internationally Acclaimed author of the Award-Winning Godhunter Series, the fantasy paranormal Twilight Court Series, the Beyond the Godhunter Series, the music-oriented paranormal Spellsinger Series, the superhero Spectra Series, and several short stories. Her books have been translated into several languages, have won numerous awards, and are bestsellers. She believes in empowering women through her writing as well as providing everyone with a great escape from reality. Her stories are full of strong women and hot gods, shapeshifters, vampires, dragons, fairies, gargoyles... pretty much any type of supernatural, breathtakingly gorgeous man you can think of. Because why have normal when you could have paranormal?
Born and raised in Hawaii, Amy made a perilous journey across the ocean with six cats to settle in the beautiful state of Oregon which reminds her a lot of Hawaii but without the cockroaches or evil sand. When she isn't trying to type fast enough to get down everything the voices in her head are saying while her kitties try to sabotage her with cuteness, she enjoys painting on canvases, walls, and anything else that will sit still long enough for the paint to dry. She prefers antiques to modern furniture, tea to coffee, night to day, and Tom Hardy to Tom Hiddleston. No; Tom Hiddleston to Tom Hardy. No, wait... Tom Hardy and Tom Hiddleston to Tom Cruise. Yes, that's it.

Amy Sumida writes reverse harem (one girl with many boyfriends/husbands) it might not be your flavor but as someone who has spent most of her reading life hating love triangles, RH is where it’s at. I distinctly remember alternatively wanting the girl to pick the nice guy over the bad boy who treats her like crap and discreetly wondering why can’t she just have them both? I mean this is fiction people, anything is possible, if I wanted reality I’d go watch the news for my entertainment.

In any case this might not be your cup of tea, for adult Sarah it’s like all my dirty teenage dreams come true. So Amy is actually the first RH writer whose work I picked up and I binge read her first RH series The Godhunter in a matter of weeks. I don’t remember sleeping just vaguely praising Amy as my high priestess, initiating me into the mystical arts of all things reverse harem. Also just in case you are wondering there is no crossover male on male action of the main character’s men in any shape or form in Amy’s series thus far, this is not the case in all RH books. I will include this info in further reviews of other series.

This is Amy’s 2nd RH series and while I love Seren the Twilight Princess (yes insert all the jokes here), this story was kind of boring to me hence the 3.5 star rating. The villain in this story just wasn’t revealed until very far in so I wasn’t invested in the conflict with the character. I do enjoy Seren’s newest love interest Daxon, the King of the Underground. We got to see more of Killian in this book which was nice but the first in my heart will always be Raza, her Unseelie King dragon-djinn husband. Sigh 😍 Also I feel like the love scenes in Amy’s series have reduced over time? Sometimes it seems she is rushing to get so much content in at once that at lot of other aspects fall by the wayside. Definitely felt like a lot of info dump at times in this book. If you are reading Amy, get used to the character glossary, love it, praise its name. For fun sometimes I use the pronunciation guide but mostly I say the names however I want in my head because it’s my brain and I’ll butcher names if I want to.

Future Sarah, in this book Seren wonders if she can trust her new man Daxon because she gets some suspicious rando’s telling her he’s shady. I mean obviously we trust rando’s because they’re totally not suspect, just popping out of the woodwork, literally in one case. *rolls eyes* 🙄 She spends a lot of the book chasing threads following King Barra in Idaho and yearning to become savior to all fairykind living in the Underground. Seren the Savior, Danu’s favorite pawn in the chessboard of Faerie.

Good but not a favorite......

Pros: it was a book by the amazing Amy Sumida!! !!
Cons: No table of contents , which means if you lose your place thanks to that ever EVER annoying page flip garbage
finding your way back where you were is even MORE annoying and the book stops at 74%, soo you can read snippets from books.... I didn’t mind the snippets soo much per say but seeing as how I’ve already read and own all the books in the snippets, I found it rather annoying I couldn’t easily skip them since the book was missing the needed table of contents...

Personal cons: ( these are things the really annoyed me about the book or the characters but I know other might mind it or might notice )
I gotta say I really enjoyed the 1st 1/2 of the book for the most part but their were things about Seren and Dax in the 2nd 1/2 of the book about both of them that really worked my last nerve and then by the time I got to the end I was very very happy to get there.... Ok, for the most part i loved my time back w/Seren and co. her family and men and her latest disasters but honestly for me I noticed a lack of character( or least to me there was) that got in my last nerve....
I’ve been trying to get on board w/it but honestly , Daxon and Seren ?
I’m sooo not feeling, I’m really not...
Sure ok, Dax and his BDSM themed control just completely rubs me the wrong way, and I’ll honestly say when i came to their chapter long love scene at the end of the book, I read only enough to know what was going on because even though I know real ppl into BDSM irl and played around with it some myself, (never as a submissive, though ,I’m way to dominate for that, I’ve enjoyed being a Domme for some at times but no one has really made want to be one the other side) ( that said the men I’ve dommed came to me looking for it and wanting it) unlike Seren...
I guess that’s part of what turned me off both it and Dax..
The demands, the demand to be noticed, t be recognized and respected , the demand to dominate ...
I don’t like demands of control and respect must be earned.. Now don’t get me wrong ,I respect Dax as a friend or and employer or as a King. It as a lover or something else like that I don’t ...
I don’t feel her and Dax... and I didn’t like how he demanded soo much from Seren while not always giving anything in return, there were times he should have tried to understand the position she’s been in and all the different ppl she has to report to, all the different roles and positions and she has to fill and he doesn’t not to me ... he supposedly wants her soo badly , a woman already married to two men and engaged to a third and from the get go has acted like she should just give up everything for him... and honestly w/ all the tasks Seren has to fulfill already being a Queen to Kings to two courts (basically two huge continents/countries ) and almost a Princess to a third and a fiancé and being ambassador to a whole freaking planet, to take on another man and even more duties , I’m sorry Amy but for me it just too much....
The other two h’s in her other series aren’t quite this over loaded ( even though Vervain in godhunter has over 6 men I think at last count) ...
I guess it’s no wonder then that Seren acts like she thinks she’s supposed to omniscient and omnipresent and tries to act like a martyr herself and act like the fairies being mistreated in the underground is her fault and she should have stopped it sooner... Seriously ?!?! Are you kidding me ?
You have have a) responsibilities and jobs to keep a dozen women busy and then to has-beens in a fiancé on top of that and b) you didn’t even have a clue this situation existed but some how it’s all your fault these fairies are suffering ?
Deep sigh, that’s soo delusional we could write a review on that alone but the whole idiotic martyrdom, combined w/a total lack of self awareness on just how much she be hurting and does hurt the ppl around her who love and care about her and what would happen if she were to be killed ?
Just really rubbed me the wrong way... Acting like a soldier w/ this one life to give for her worlds was really lacking self awareness to point of being grossly immature and delusional , because Raza alone would destroy both worlds or die trying to if she got herself killed and then her father and Tiernan would follow, she HAS TO KNOW THIS and for her to run off and risk her life w/out ever really being honest w/them about all she was doing while Dax acted like a spoiled child demanding an “apology “ at a later date ( knowing was going to involve sex and submission and BDSM) just because she was doing her due diligence to all the people she had report to and only offered support when it was convenient for him...
It just left a bad taste in my mouth... Tiernan was her 1st love and Raza dis kinda fierce his way in, but there really was a spark you could feel and their arc or relationship was never rushed... Killian was like love at 1st sight w/a fun and amazing chemistry .. this isn’t working for me

In this book, Seren is having some issues with the new man in her life, but she is going to have to learn how to trust him before it is too late. Not only that, but black magic is being sold to humans and things aren't looking good for them. Seren and her family will do everything they can to get everything set right again, no matter what it takes.

This book was another good one in this series. I loved how Seren acted towards everyone, and the choices she made in this one as well. However, I'm having a hard time liking her new man in this one. He was different and annoying in my opinion. Other than that I thought this book was very good, and I enjoyed it a lot.

Holy semicolons, Batman!

Whoa, baby! This book needs a semicolon intervention. Or maybe just a knowledgeable editor. I even think that enlisting a college English major for editing assistance would be beneficial for this entire series.

Aside from the grammar issues and random typos, I did still enjoy the general storyline of this book. It is getting a bit repetitive, though. Each book of this series revolves around Seren's love life and dealing with some sort of "bad guy". The books are missing more of the every-day stuff. It kinda reminds me of reading a newspaper. We are given the highlights of what happened, but we don't really know all of the extra details.

If you've made it this far in the series, you already know it's going to be good.

This is such a great series. The depth of the characters have continued to grow even as additional characters have been added throughout this series. Best of all the endings feel finished but still leave you wishing that the next book was already available. To me there's just nothing worse than that wth feeling at the end of the book. Thank you for another great read!

A well written next instalment for the Twilight Court, Seren realises how bad some of the fairies had it on earth, where they kill each other for scraps and war with other fractions of fairies. A huge adventure starts for her when she jumps from husband to husband and fiance and then spends a lot of time with her consort-to-be. It all finishes well with some well deserved sexy time. We get to meet a lot of new fairies with interesting powers too.

This book leads Seren to the fairy underground where Danu has tasked her with a dangerous job of bringing her faries home. The call of Danu surprises Seren but her attraction to Daxon king of the fairy underground is undeniable and Seren doesn’t fight it as she had with her other 3 men. The underground leaders set Seren and Daxon up and I’m excited to see what happens next.

Fun fairy romp

I stumbled on the first book of this series through accident, and immediately began devouring each tome. I could do with a little less fairy sex, but it isn’t enough to detract from the enjoyment.

Excellent

If you like Laurel k Hamilton's fey series, you'll love this one. It's a lighter bright and shinier, and while steamy, it's not as in your face. Excellent story, characters, and plot twists!

Another good installment

Another good installment from Sumida. She’s such a prolific author, it’s kind of mind boggling. Still too many typos and grammatical errors though. She really needs a better editor. Getting “you’re “ and “your” mixed up constantly is unforgivable.

Another amazingly tantalising sensual and action packed book

Amy has a way of catching your heart, mind and senses like no other author can. These books have everything an adventurous woman could only dream of. A the fairy realism folklore base is detailed and unfaltering.

Meh

I neither loved nor hated this book. I still find myself scanning A LOT or repeated information from the previous stories. It’s never just a quick reference but a long recap. Still not a killian fan but I am loving Dax’s introduction into the series.

Underground Action

Another good book in those series, except the references that keep being brought up from past books. By now we know what is what. Anyway this book has good action, great world building, good characters, magic, twists and romance. On to the next book

Nice

This was a great addition to the series. A new guy to enjoy and very blue too. This is so cool and the way she got everyone together in the HR. I think she needs to realize that she needs help and to stop doing things on her own.
