The God Jars Saga #4

Support: Purity and Control 1

Rate this book
As Aesriphos Valiant, Valis needs all the support he can get. Oh, and he needs a husband, too.

Valis advanced in ranks in the holy warrior order of Aesriphos on accident. If he doesn’t find a husband soon, it could undermine the entire order because an aspirant must marry before advancing

He knows who he wants, he’s just too afraid to act on it. But as they go on a quest to help a friend, being so close to Tavros is filled with temptation Valis isn’t sure he can resist.

As they fight for their lives, Valis learns more about himself as a person and as a leader, but the challenges only keep coming, and some of them have a price that just might be too high to pay.

The M/M romantic elements in God Jars is a very slow burn. The God Jars Saga contains explicit material including violence, abuse, and M/M sexual encounters, and is not advised for anyone under the age of 18.

Growing pains

Valis has made friends. He's also got admirers. He wants only 1 to return his feelings. But a training mission curbs any courting. Especially when this training has suddenly become very real.

Valis is still an emotional mess but is becoming more. More adult. More determined. More adaptable. More open to his friends. The leadership thrust upon him helped a lot. Still not sure how a barely experienced 21yo became the defacto leader for an experienced caravan and mercenary guild but it sort of worked. Ish. Still not sure why the Sovereign Priest tapped him for Valiant before he even made the level under it. And really curious how some little Draco wannabe got into the Aer...whosits and hasn't been given the boot yet.

Now we’re getting somewhere! Okay, I’ve loved all the other books in the series but it’s really starting to pick up steam with this one. We finally(!) have movement on the relationship and even a small steamy scene, there is a lot more action as Valis and Tavros are traveling, and we’re getting more insights into the magic and the gods. It’s coming together so brilliantly, and I can’t wait for more.

I swear this series just gets better and better with each passing book and once I am done with one book in this series, I cannot wait for he other because I just do not want them to end and I want to see what awaits Valis and Tavros next.

In this book, it picks up where it left off in the last book with Valis and Tavros getting ready for their journey to accompany Seza and Zhasina out to accompany a caravan and make sure they have help if they need it.

The journey starts out fine but Valis is still on edge about the premonition theat Thyran had and also Valis is not excited about the feelings that Aryn has for hi. The one good thing that does seem to be happening is through this journey Valis is starting to hear a different side of Roba that he never got to see exist. Instead of being the horrible person he was in life he seems to be extremely helpful in his death as just maybe Valis will be able to forgive him at some point for he way that he treated Valis when he was alive. Only time will telll on that front.

Another thing that is bothering Valis throughout this journey is that he has not heard from his papa or his father and he is extremely worried about them and is putting Valis off of his game because of it. Valis hasto learn to leave his worries behind and concentrate on the journey ahead of him.

Lay but not least their is Tavros. Valis still does not know what to think about the developing feelings for him and whether he wants to tell Tavros about them or not in fear of ruining their friendship.

So this will definitely be a journey that will not only broaden each of these four people's horizons but it will also be a journey of personal growth and development also. This will not be an easy trip for any of them and their will definitely be a lot of surprises along the way both good and bad.

Devon Vespar has done an incredible job on this series thus far and Devon leaves me wanting and waiting for more with each book. This book did the same in that aspect as he others. I cannot wait to see what is going to happen next because once again the book was left off with a cliff hanger. Taking his journey with Valis is like actually being their with him for each new obstacle and new development right along with him. That just amazes me.

This is definitely the best book in this series thus far and I can't wait for he next one. Was given this galley copy for free for an open and honest review

I can't believe how much this series gets better by the book. Although I am not happy how this one ended. Cliffhangers...grrr. But it's been amazing to watch Valis grow and become such a strong leader. Even with his doubts and fears, he sees how everyone needs his words. It's humbling for him, and amazing to see how much he's grown.
They are on the journey to catch the caravan. When they get there, the caravan are under attack from a Qos priest and mercenaries. They quickly jump in to help and in the end, come out victorious. But then again, taking a life is never a win. They bury the dead and get a visit from the priest and more mercenaries that starts this whole mess. Valis takes on the priest and puts him in stasis and when the mercenaries realize who they had actually worked for, they made their apologies and quickly pledged their allegiance to Valis and his crew. It's rough going because trust has to be earned, but they more than prove themselves. Especially when Valis sees he has a hit out on him and his fathers are slated for immediate capture. When they reach a village that the Qos people have overrun, Roba continues to teach Valis what he needs to know to defeat them. And they do. It's not an easy battle. The villagers lost many, but they grieve and start to move on. And now they make their journey home. There's a lot to be shared and to go over. Prisoners to interview, reports to be given and such. But for now it's a time for cleanliness and rest. And hope and pray, Valis's fathers are still alive. Because his visions are leaving him scared.
Valis has more than proved how much he's grown in this book. He's become a natural born leader. He's learning, as well as his father, how to make their existences blend within each other and his father has finally proven himself to be worthy to be called father. This book is all about growing and learning. It's learning your place and making it yours. And Valis is becoming more confident every day. With the help of his friends, his now lover/mentor, and those new people who have pledged their loyalties and devotion to him. He's proven, even when scared, he will leave no one behind. He will jump in the fray. He thinks things through to cause minimal damage. But the kindness of his spirit has also shown how compassionate and kind he is. He just has a way to speak to people that make them want to listen and do as he asks. It's been an amazing thing to watch with him.
This series is just...wow. I can't wait to dig into the next one.

This second trilogy is off to a great start. There is much less crying, though emotions run high. More new characters are introduced, and the excitement and action has finally arrived.

Valis, Tavros, Seza, and Zhasina have set off on their quest to find Zhasina's caravan. As they get started, Valis's experience shows, and puts him in the position of teacher. With Roba's help, they are able to locate the caravan; just as a battle is underway.

Valis proves himself to be able and wise in the eyes of the Kalutakeni, as well as his friends, and becomes the unofficial leader of the group. This added pressure weighs on Valis's shoulders, but he knows he must be strong and do his duty. Surprisingly enough, he has an unexpected ally that gives sage advice along the way.

While traveling back to Cadoras, they learn of some of Qos' plans. The four friends know they must face their foes, and Valis is grateful for the help their new allies and his sire provide. It is good to see Valis find his courage, but it is also good that the author does not make him invincible. There are some heart stopping moments in this story, and foreshadowing of worse to come.

This book does finally allow Tav to get his head out of his a$$, and the timing couldn't be better. With the announcement that the Sovereign Priest made at the end of the Duty and Sacrifice trilogy, it was imperative that someone step up. But, as the story comes to a close, there is a strange interaction that will undoubtedly lead to trouble for Valis.

Happy reading!

Valis and his friends begin their journey. The group come across the caravan their new friend Zhasina needed to retrieve. The caravan group are under attack and all four land there hand. Valis manages to capture the Qos priest and earn the thanks of the mercenaries hired by the Qos priest. In capturing the priest, the group also gain some important directives. On the way back to the monastery the group knows they'll be riding into danger so the formulate a plan for success.

For those who have been waiting for something to finally happen again between Tavros and Valis this is the book to pick up. On the road they become extremely close.

Like all the other books I've read of this series I enjoyed this one too. Every book is a learning lesson. Valis was quite mature and it was interesting to see how far he came from being that crying emotional scared kid to being looked at as a leader and role model. I could just cry because of the his growth and effect on others. I liked that he didn't let his childhood effect him and was able to convince others not to give into their dark temptation and uplifted morale.
A nice surprise was Roba's behavioral change and trying to right his wrongs toward his son and providing guidance, nice conversation and care.

A free copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

Devon Vesper, you have done it again! In the fourth instalment of the God Jars series, we get to see Valis in more of a leadership role for the first time. And it sets the tone for the rest of the book, maybe the entire series, but I can't say more without spoilers. In Support we get to see a different side to Valis, but the sweetness we love about him is still very present. We also get more time with just Tavros and Valis interacting and how their relationship is developing.
There are some moments in this book, like the previous 3, that just make your heart stop with the amount of feels coming at you. Vesper delivers characters you love, hate, or make you change your mind about once you get to know them. The world she's building for the God Jars in breathtaking in its uniqueness and wondrous magic.

If you like adventure, magic, sweet characters, and bloody battles this book is for you.

I cannot wait for the 5th installment!

Tavros and Valis go to help a caravan. They are ambushed along the way by an Qos priest who thinks to capture Valis but with the help of Roba inside Valis, the priest is placed into statis.

The priests mercenaries, upon learning that he was Qos, ask to pledge themselves to Valis’s cause. Distrust abounds but Valis makes it work.

This book was about learning to create magic. Be it good or bad. It was also about Roba’s learning what an incredibly talented man his son is.

The romance that has been fluttering between Tavros and Valis also finally started to heat up.

The world building continues nicely. Valis is drawing in the people he needs for the problems he feels are coming. Building a solid set of ally’s.

This book had a lot more magic in it. Both the learning and teaching to wield it. This book feels like the beginnings of what fantasy stories used to be like. I’m liking it.

I received an arc of this book.

Valis needs a husband in order to advance in ranks in the holy order of Aseriphos. He wants Tavrod but is afraid to act on his desires. Valis has become a strong leader!! He leads a journey to the caravan, but when they get there the caravan is under attack. They fight for their lives and win but the challenges just keep coming. Well written, strong characters, and fantastic story line. I am voluntarily leaving a review form an ARC that I received. My reviews are solely based on my thoughts and opinions.

Much better than the previous books. The plot seems to finally go to a specific point and the characters grew more than I expected. The author's style is more solid and the descriptions, although lengthy, become more elaborate. It's easy to dive in and get lost in it.

This is the first book I have read in this series and because of that I am not aware of what has happened up to this point. This books seems to deal with Valis learning how to deal with his powers and how to control them. It also deals with his finally letting Tavros know of his love for him. In all it is a good read but you really need to read this in sequence because I feel like it would help me understand this story better.

The story has a nice pace and keeps my interest to the end. I loved how Valis becomes a leader of his group. Finally the chemistry between Valis and Tavros became more than friends. I am loving the series and hope to stalk the author for a long time. I love everything about the book and its becoming one of my favorites to read.

Loving this series

Tavros and Valis are finally a couple!! The series just gets better. They have left on mission and are gone for quite a while, they almost die, they fall in love, it's wonderful. Valis learn more about his magic and himself. Roba is still in his head, but he really has redeemed himself. Can't wait to see what happens now that they are back from their mission. There appears to be a new jerk out to get Valis. Can't wait to read Mentor!

Finally the beginning of the romance between Valis and Tarvos. It's been a long struggle for the both of them, but away from home on their first adventure seems to be the magic that needed to happen. The writing, storyline, and characters are superior and engaging, and I'm just loving this new chapter of the saga as Valis and company begin to deal with more adult situations and grow up a bit more. Also, I find "courting" to be adorably quaint.

As the story continues, the plot is increasing complexity adding more players to the drama. I am not sure how much I can share without spoiling the start of this second saga for you, so I am only going to say this: more action, intrigue and magic than in the previous three books and of course the friendship between Valis and Tavros is finally evolving to something more. That first kiss was.... wow!

In this installment Valis is growing in every sense and he's slowly taking the role of a leader which he's probably destined to. He's getting more confident although he's still questioning himself. Emotions run high and the tension between him and Tavros is finally reaching his limit. This is an addictive series with epic everything - emotions, battles, storyline and unlike some others in this genre it doesn't lack depth. There's a twist of course and I can't wait to see what happens next.

I have followed this series from book 1. It just keeps getting better and better. This book is more emotionally charged than the previous books and ties up some "loose ends". Again, I have high hopes for the next book in this series and I am sure I will not be disappointed. Ms. Vesper has created a wonderful series that I am sure to read again and again.

This series is now 4 books in and better than ever. I don't know how the author does it but Devon Vesper has again written a book that I couldn't put down. This book starts a new arc in the God Jars saga and the as soon as I finished it I was ready for the next book. I absolutely can't wait. (Make sure to read the first 3 books first because you won't want to miss a second of Valis' journey)

Valis and Tavros are building a deeper connection which helps Valis and his personal growth and really coming into his own as a leader. Action packed and really delving into the magic aspect, i can't wait to see how everything develops and how Valis deals with it all especially with Tavros by his side.

Valis has grown so much since the first book, and we continue to see Valis grow. This book continues where the last one ends, and it's a time span of three months. There was definitely some foreshadowing of some intense things to come, and I'm quite nervous about.
