This is the book I always took out of the library when I was a kid. It's very sentimental. Since the cover art is missing, it's a teal cover, with a picture of red-haired, pig-tailed Edie on the cover, sitting in a dress and tights with her teddy bear. I'm pleased to own an old copy of it, but it will never be for sale.

The basic story: one night, Edie refuses to go to bed. Her parents agree to allow her, so they take away and take apart her bed. At first, she celebrates and jumps up and down and loves it. But after her parents go to bed, the TV stops broadcasting anything interesting, and the night noises settle in, she is bored and miserable. Eventually, she falls asleep for a little while in the big armchair in the living room.

The next day, she's tired and crabby, so her friends don't want to play with her, plus she has trouble focusing on her schoolwork. At bedtime the next day, she begs her parents to put her bed back together, agreeing to never complain at bedtime again, so they do. She celebrates, yet again, and loves bedtime from then on.
