Glossary to explain technical terms, plus index Written to deal with the specific language issues faced by international students, this practical, user-friendly book is an invaluable guide to academic writing in English.
A textbook that can also be used as a self-study guide for academic writing. Suitable for first and second year students. When I worked as an academic at the University of Bahrain and coordinated a 200-level academic writing course for the IT College, I assigned as the textbook for that course, and a big change in students performance and accuracy was perceived, not only in that course but in the other courses they were doing. I highly recommend it (and it's new version).
This textbook is not really suitable for people who already have a high proficiency in English but just need to refine their academic style. I think it's more likely meant to be consulted by students whose English is not fluent to begin with.
This book is very good for beginners and BA students of English. I've started reading it because it seems that I'm going to write my dissertation in English and needed a great workbook for academic writing. It's not bad but I'm looking for something else.
Excellent book, extremely useful for international students, focusing on the details of writing in English. It a must read for students conducting their studies in English.
