please proceed with caution when reading this review. I am giving an honest review and I may reveal too much of the book
Cliffhangers are a pet peeve of mine. I hate them. I also don’t like it when a guy cheats on the girl he likes. Lastly, I thought that there was too much fighting going on between Logan and London. And not the cute flirting fighting, but the type of fighting that involves screaming and saying hurtful things to each other. I have to give it three stars for the cheating and the cliffhanger.
I thought the story line was interesting and had a lot of potential.. I think the author is trying to make the relationship in the book seem like a ‘Real’ relationship.. with all the fighting and cheating moments. But most of us read books, especially romance books to escape as much reality as possible.. I don’t need to read about the hero calling the heroin pathetic for having a crush on him in front of a crowd of their peers. I don’t need to read in almost every chapter about a woman, who is blonde and plastic, hanging onto the hero everytime the heroin sees him in the room. I’m sure this is typical stuff a lot of relationships have to face. But I just want to find a good romance book, from start to finish, that just celebrates the love of two people.
Like how long do I have to wait for the next book? Is it already out and I just haven't paid attention or will it come out in like 45 years? I need to know. I hate playing the waiting game.
ALSO, I hate when two people are in a relationship and one of them cheats but ya know.. they are so madly in love with the person that they are dating. LIKE REALLY? How the hell does that forgive them for doing that horrible deed? Spoiler alert: it doesn't.
Her First Kiss: London's Story is about London and Logan. There are some twists and turns that you may or may not see coming. You may or may not fall in love with these two or just want them to be with other people.
A lot happens, emotions will arise (whether it's with the characters in the book or from yourself), and you may or may not like the book. I enjoyed it. My interest was intrigued the whole time that I couldn't even put the book down. I will probably read the second book but ugh.. the waiting game.
WTH???!!! What did I just read? First off I wish I had been warned this isn't a standalone, and it ends in a cliffhanger. I think... otherwise this would be the worst book ending in the history of books. Ever. Second I really feel like half the book is about characters in other books and since I haven't read any of the books about these characters, I never fully understood half of the stuff that was happening. It was confusing, and I felt like I was missing something. I was never able to fully connect with the characters, I wasn't engaged, I didn't get the author writing style tbh. The dialogue is awkward and just kind of stupid. I never truly got the MC's relationship, never felt love between them, never understood or relate to their actions, they are juvenile, immature, and plain stupid. The whole book was awkward and just had a weird vibe. I wish I hadn't wasted my time with this one.
This is not a new rookie author's first book, but it reads like one. Editing issues, lack of character progression, juvenile writing style. It was painful. I pushed through only to realize it ends in a crappily contrived cliff-hanger. Not only did the Amazon description not clearly say it was only part of their series, but then I also realized I paid $4.29 to suffer through just part of a bad story. I don't understand the five star reviews. If it weren't for the lack of ending I would have left 3 star despite my strong dislike and a 2 star read, but when the author can't be considerate enough to clearly indicate the cliff hanger it quickly became a one star.
It has taken me a while to reign in my emotions to write this review. I have waited for this story for a while and I knew going in my emotions would be all over the place. London Fields wants to prove that her rockstar roots will not be why she becomes a star. So she begins Syrcuse University under a different name to help her on her quest. But one thing remains the same, her crush on the star of the football team #42.
Logan Links return to SU after taking a semester off to try and help his sister get better after she suffers a trimendous loss. But his last semester will prove difficult because the little girl who always stuck her tounge out at him is no longer that little girl. She is every thing he never wanted but everything he craves. Logan is broken and believes that love doesn't exsist. London has seen love fall apart and then a love that was ment to be bloom into something beautiful.
After emotions are spilled and compromises are made life begins a crazy spiral that can either tear the friendship apart or bring them closer.
There are some unexpected twists and turns!
As always this series reaches into my soul and heightens my emotions. I have watched (read) both of these characters develope over time and knew their story would make all the feels of the orginal series coming flooding back. I was a blubbering mess in between the awe's and LOL's. I know this will be a re-read for me as all the others have become. These charaters are so much a part of me.
You know how you wait and wait for something and you worry you may be disappointed, because you've built it up in your head? This is not one of those times.
Logan and London's story is everything I hoped it would be. (Aside from a cliffhanger, just teasing! I expect nothing less and it left me wanting and hoping for more.) There was angst, desire, reminders of how Logan is like his dad. London is smart and funny, with a touch of sass.
I loved their story and I cannot wait to see how it ends! Another amazing read from MJ and I can't wait to see how it ends.
This is a story I could have loved, but they never actually move past anything. You think they have, or will, and then they don't. It appears this is only part one of the story, but I don't know if I will continue with it. :(
I have loved every book by this author but this book was a disappointment. The way the main characters behaved, it really felt like I was reading about two 15 year olds. I know this is only part one but nothing was settled between them. At the end, they were still having the same arguments and being as immature as on page one. But every book can’t be perfect. Still looking forward to the rest of their story!
I didn't realize I read this a long time ago until about 2 chapters in, I almost stopped (I've read another story before a 2nd time) but it pulled me in. I suppose I need to check for duplicates on my laptop, my cell never shows that stuff, not sure what I rated it if I did, but... I loved it so hey, it was worthwhile.
I'm not going to be able to rate this book like I want to because it is book 1 in a series, and so that means it ended on a cliffy. I don't want to give too much away, or be too hard on this book because I have a feeling this will wrap up nicely in the continuation. As it is now, there are many unanswered questions. This is mostly London's story, and when we meet her she is immature, and has lots of growing up to do, but I like her. She is genuine and wears her emotions for all to see. Logan is your typical college football hero... or is he. He obvious has some demons he is dealing with, and this causes him to act out against London, and not always in a nice way. I want to know more about him. I would like to see in the next book Logan have to really fight for London. I want London to come into her own, and see the world on her terms. Now, there are A LOT of secondary characters in this book and A LOT of infomation on them. It did not deter my interest in this book, but I feel I could have gotten much more out of this if I would have read her other books. It actually made me want to go back and read them because all the characters intrigue me. I am really excited about reading the next installment in this series.
Holy crap batman! I was not expecting that...at all. This is a first for me. I'm speechless. Her First Kiss is the first book I've read by MJ and I'm completely gobsmacked. I could not put the book down. Actually I'm lying. I read the 1st chapter and put it down so I could get some work done. When I picked it back up to read a little more I screwed myself. Motivation to work went out the window and I ended up putting a nice indention on the cushion of my couch. My boys would ask me a question and I think I might have waved my hand at them while I grunted out my answer. I know, real classy. This book caused me to resort to my inner cave woman. For example..."Mom can I have ice cream for dinner?" my response grunt. "Mom can I stay up all night watching TV and pig out on candy all night?" my response...grunt grunt rawr. (Probably not my finest moment) Buy this book! Buy this series! I'm jumping into the next book tomorrow. I just have to know what's going to happen next. The book is full of sass, laughter and maybe a little romance with a sprinkle of heartbreak. You will get anxious and fidgety. You will want to throw the book across the room while screaming "bastard". (Just make sure the hubs isn't around when you do it. Or "Lucy you got some explaining to do") I have had many books by MJ in my library to read but for some ridiculous reason I've always passed over them. Well, not anymore! The author has me hooked like a fish. So tomorrow I'm going to start the 2nd book and I'm going to read when I take a break. That's my game plan and im sticking to it, maybe. Till my next review, happy reading!
I’ve waited a long time for Logan and London’s story. Anything connected with the Links is going to get my attention. London did frustrate me a bit, I mean the ending and how she reacted? I understand she feels anger and betrayal but an innocent person is getting used and she needs to right that wrong.
Now for Logan, he is Lucas’s son so he is going to screw up. He’s also no stranger to the ladies and I wanted to knock some sense into him at times. But when he needs to step up to the plate, he more than gains my respect.
I must be the only one who didn’t realize this was the first of a duet, as I kept trying to turn the pages, thinking this can’t be the ending. Looking forward to reading Logan’s story-these two need to knock off the nonsense, act like adults and get their acts together!
This book says it’s number 1 in a series,but it seemed to have so many characters and stories that I️ felt like I️ should know...but it was just confusing. The book needed major editing. It rambled and was not that great. The story has potential, but misses the mark. Too many characters has similar names London, Lucas, Logan, Lisa, Loudon. Give me a break. Poor character development too.
I’m so in love with MJ Fields books!! This is London’s story as a freshman in the same college Logan Links attends! Omgoodness! The chemistry between them since they were young, well now it’s explosive! London comes from a famous family, and they have been through tough times. Logan Links is the son of Lucas Links! Now that they are in the same college alone and together, they fight their attraction, but give in without labeling what they feel. MJ Fields builds up anticipation in this wonderful book with a cliffhanger! I’m ready to read book 2 ❤️
There are things Logan takes very seriously, “you said you didn’t want anyone to die, so if you choose to come out here and they choose to look at you, and this first year of Friends-Giving ends in a bloodbath, it’s all on you.” Logan is a very protective man, " I wrap my arms around him and cry. “Shhh … I’m here. I won’t let anyone hurt you.” The ending wasn't as bad as I thought, lots to work through but it wasn't something I couldn't not, not handle.
Wow! This story has so much, and I honestly couldn’t put this down. I enjoy London “Elle” and Logan story so much. It had it all. So much hurt, angst, laughs, friendship. That ending was not expected and I can’t wait to see what will happen next.
Her First Kiss by M.J. Fields is the first book in her brandnew First Series. Her First Kiss, while part of a series, can be read as a standalone and has crossovers to the Love-Series, Burning Souls and Wrapped. London Fields suffered loss and is living under the spotlight of her family´s stardom. Now she´s about to be on her own for the very first time in her life. Now is her time to shine. She´s a freshman in college and everything is shiny and new. Life could be good, if there wasn´t a certain quarterback who makes her life difficult. Logan Links is back at college for his last semester. He took a sabbatical to help his family heal through a horrible time. Now he´s back and acts like the typical college athlete. He doesn´t want to want London, and both drive each other crazy. They fight like cats and dogs. He´s protective of her, rude, blunt. She wants him , but wants to live her college life too. Both are still so young and have a lot of grow up to do. My heart is beating for London, she has all my sympathies. They hurt each other again and again, but can´t get each other out of their heads. I started reading and was hooked. I read some of the books in the previous series and loved to meet these characters again. The writing is great, I love the story and the characters and I could feel the characters emotions in the words. I read the book in one sitting, I couldn´t put it down, I had to know what happens to the characters. Now I´m sitting here with a book hangover and can´t wait to read the next book in the series, His First Crush, Logan´s story. I recommend the book and give 5 stars. Thank you, M.J. Fields !
I thought for sure i would like this one. Sport romance, j/p H, virgin h....
This book was a convoluted mess. The story was very difficult to follow due to the large number of side characters and missing background stories... half the book was about other people.
I was surprised that the dialogue was so awkward to read. This isn’t a new author... it was hard to tell who was speaking, there were odd word choices... the dialogue was juvenile, stilted, and awkward. There was a lot of unnecessary silly conversations and arguments that didn’t further the story in any way. Lots of pointless back and forth.
The timeline didn’t make sense and there seemed to be a lot of confusion on what actually happened. One minute he’s been manwhoring around, then the next there’s discussion of him being celibate for 8 months. But they’ve only been at school for a few weeks... and he says he hasn’t been with anyone since school started and he’s been around the h... then he gets a bj in the bathroom... but did he? Maybe not? Then he tells her that he had sex with someone after they were together when she didn’t show up for karaoke... but just a few lines later says he’s stuck with their agreement of not being with other people.... then there’s the whole NFL story line that is equally confusing... they want him? They don’t want him? He secretly wants to go? He doesn’t want to go? He’s leaving? He’s staying and working on his MBA?? WTH is going on???
Also, there’s a traumatic event toward the end. They are running and hiding for their lives... and while hiding in a horrifying situation, they start talking out their relationship. While hearing bodies hit the floor. It’s weird as hell. In no world would this ever happen. Maybe a desperate “I love you” but certainly not a state-of-the-union relationship rehash. I was kinda grossed out, honestly. Very odd choice.
Anyway, because of all this it was difficult to connect to the MCs... there’s a ton of build up but they never actually do the deed. They don’t even kiss until 85% 🙄... i liked that the author made the H a bit more aggressively j/p than we typically get with athletes in a sport romance, but then she contradicts that by having someone (the h and also his rival) “school” him in an emasculating and embarrassing way, more than once. This really took away from his alpha-ness, so I never got invested in him. Every time I started to like him, she’d throw in something that just made him look silly and immature, even though he’s the oldest character in the main group. I could just as easily see the h go for any other guy in the story, because the H just wasn’t dominant. The h was just massively awkward and not particularly likable... she’s confusing as well, the 1st page says she’s never been kissed but she’s not a virgin??? But then her virginity is a *thing* the entire book...??? She’s oddly sexually aggressive for a virgin who’s never been kissed... it was like the author wanted the virgin story line, but couldn’t commit, which I think is the theme for much of the elements of this book. 😂
I am vaguely curious how it will unravel, thus the 2 stars instead of 1 star, but probably not interested enough to wade into another hot mess.

READING THIS AGAIN IN 2022 previous review down below.
The plot Okay I read this before a few years ago and I was so mad about the outcome because I had been waiting for years for this couple. On the previews series London was a sassy firecracker and even though she was a bit like that on this series she wasn't the girl I learn to love. Logan was her weakness, and it made her look like a frail feather compared to younger London. Even on some scenes in this book it was mentioned she had changed. Also, what I notice this time around that Logan was more like his father and no one mentioned that. London said he was like her father, but he was controlling, snapped, a cheater like his.
The romance. Okay I would have loved if the pace would have been slower. Okay If you read the previous books and the bickering of teen kids couldn't be called love. Her side was a silly teen crush that with years turn in to her version of love. For him wasn't love he love that he had a little fan always fanning over him and he love teasing her. So, when out of the blue he is all in love with her I was dumbfounded. I would of prefer a growth on his love part, that little by little he felt something in him grow for her. Like a slap in his face. I mean is a duet for goodness' sake the author could of invested the time. Instead of assuming that because we read a few bickering scenes we would of known that Logan was infatuated with London.
"I used to fuck blondes because they didn't remind me of her."
Really Logan since when? Because your creator didn't even give us a hint on the previous series and we have to read this which feels like we were stolen of time and memories. A SHORT NOVELLA would of been wonderful.
I didn't hate this book this time around maybe because I wasn't excited for this couple like I was the first time I read it. It was just like any other NA sport University romance book. Nothing amazing, not the worst.
~~~~REVIEWED EITHER 2017 OR 2018~~~~ After years of waiting, I finally got to read about this two. The funny part is that in my mind I was playing out all that teasing and flirting of when they were younger. There wasn’t much of that to my disappointment. You guys have no idea how much I was waiting for that London the firecracker, sassy but I feel like we got the downsized London. And trust me I know this is not YA and that’s why I tried not to judge the book based on that. So, after me blocking in a way that this book was about those two kids I loved, I was okay how the story played out.
This was an enjoyable storyline from the beginning to the end. I was left with a book hangover from the ending of this book. I so have to know what happens between these two. It is a must at this point. This book has me on the edge of my seat with suspense, romance and twists and turns. London is just trying to start her new life in college. But her crush is there to make sure that she is ok. But little do they know that things will bring them together but will it be enough? I absolutely love Logan. He is just someone that you love to hate. But how can you not love someone that wants to protect someone in their life? He has been through so much and now he is trying to hide his feelings from the one person that he shouldnt hide them from. But something tragic happens that will bring them together but at the same time it might tear them apart? I cant wait to read the next one in this series about Logan. I have to freaking know what happens between London and Logan. It is a must. M.J Fields did an amazing job with this one. Highly recommend reading this one.
MJ Fields is a must read anytime she has a book. I've been reading her for quite some time, watching her writing evolve into something beautiful, intense, deep, emotional, and completely unforgettable every single time.
Her First Kiss is the first book in a brand new series that is guaranteed to twist you all up and leave you begging for just a taste more. Logan and London tell a complicated story that is undeniable, angst and full of all the feels.
You can't miss this new series and be ready to want a whole lot more.
