When Lacey Coleman receives word her mother is missing, she isn't convinced the police will find her. She must go home to search, but she's a barista, not an investigator. When a friend with Fortress Security volunteers to help, Lacey can't refuse because she's sure foul play is involved, and her mother's only chance of survival is the medic with the heart and skills of a warrior.

Jake Davenport has been slowly building a friendship with the woman who fascinated him from the moment he first saw her behind the counter at Coffee House. After learning Lacey's mother is missing, he accompanies Lacey to her hometown and, within minutes of arriving in Winston, tangles with the local law. Although assured Yvonne left town under her own steam, Jake's not buying that story, especially following two attempts on Lacey's life. When Lacey falls into enemy hands, Jake must mount a rescue before he loses the woman he loves.

January 2021: Lowered the rating to 4 stars. There are inconsistencies and grammatical errors throughout the book. Details were said early on in the book and repeated again later on as if they hadn't already been said between the characters.

Lacey Coleman couldn't wait to leave her hometown of Winston, Alabama. She needed to get away from everything that was dragging her down. She has spent the last 6 years doing everything she can to make her life better. Her trips home to Winston are few and far between. But when she receives a call from the town chief of police informing her that her mom, Yvonne, is missing, she knows they aren't doing anything to find her and it'll be up to Lacey to bring her back home.

Jake Davenport has had his eye on Lacey for several months. After hearing about her abusive ex-boyfriend, he knows he'll need to move slow if he's going to have a chance to win her heart. But when he discovers that her mom is missing and she plans to head home to find her, he can't let her go alone. The thought of anything happening to her makes him sick to his stomach. Maybe some time together will show her that not every guy is like her ex.

The moment Lacey and Jake arrive in town, the local cops start to stir up trouble for them. They don't believe that Yvonne is in any trouble. They are dead set that she left on her own accord. But neither Lacey nor Jake are buying it.

When attempts are made on Lacey's life, Jake knows that something isn't right in this small town. If they are ever going to find out what this town is hiding, he'll need the help of his team and fellow operative, Cade Ramsey. Jake is determined to do everything in his power to find Yvonne, bring her home, and keep Lacey out of the hands of a crazy man. Now that Lacey is in his life, he will move heaven and earth to keep her safe and give her the HEA that she deserves.

*dreamy sigh*

I really enjoyed Obsession! I have been curious about Lacey since she was introduced in Deadly Game. I originally thought her and Adam would end up together but I'm so glad I was wrong! Jake is just who she needed. I loved seeing these two together! They are perfect for each other!

I am really enjoying both of these series and I'm getting sad that I'm almost caught up! I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself when I'm done! Haha. Ms. Deel has definitely been added to my favorites list! :)

As for my casting.. what do you think?!

Wonderful!

Another great Fortress adventure! I adore them. I love all the couples who fall in love and then contribute to the team. I do believe we should have had an epilogue. A meeting with Brett perhaps or jakes family. I hope we see more of these two in the future. Great plot and good ending I hope the town gets a new cheif. Bravo Rebecca! Write on! Davia

Another great book

Another great book by this author. I love the combination of romance and brave men with a passion for keeping people safe. It's also great that they are eye candy. I didn't figure out who was behind all the mischief until right before it was revealed either. A definite page Turner that I didn't put down until finished. Five stars.

It was okay

I like the story, plot and I really liked the characters. I always like when the hero has his life together and is good person. She was good I liked her personality but she wasn't has smart as I would have wrote her. (I am not a writer though) plus side of her she didn't DO anything stupid. Like run off on her own to get into trouble. The biggest problem I had with this book is the lack of reality when it came to sex and their relationship. I am completely fine without sex scenes and even talking about sex BUT it is not normal for people in their 20s to not even sit on the same bed with the door open which the author makes a point to say. I didn't find that nessary to tell me they weren't having sex. It made seem like a cheesy after school special during those times. Just don't bring up sleeping arrangements. There was just no need for it.

Rebecca Deel is my go-to for 5 star reads, and the latest installment of the Fortress series was just as good as I'd hoped! We've met both Jake and Lacey in previous books, and it was great to see them finally explore a relationship. The romance was lovely as always, and the suspense and mystery angle kept me on the edge of my seat. This story reminded me Alex and Ivy's story (which was my favorite) in some ways, and I really enjoyed that. I hope we get to catch up with some of the previous characters more in future stories! We got to know Cade more in this book, and I am looking forward to reading his and Sasha's story next!

The story was perfectly fine. I had not read the other Fortress Security books and was not familiar with this author beforehand. Jake and Lacey are cute and the story has an HEA.

So my issue with this book is that the book does not align with my expectations after reading the summary and seeing the cover. This book is very clean and the couple only kiss a few times. Based on the cover, I was expecting at least one steamy scene. But that was not the case. The male characters have alpha (protective and possessive) qualities, but there wasn't the passion that you normally see with it.

I should of known..........

I am in love with this author!!! Every time I start one of her books it's is usually finished within 72 hours ( a few more if my daughter is choosing not to nap). Her books are so action packed and suspenseful yet completely loving with all if the characters. I feel so invested in each character like they are some long lost friends and I'm just catching up on their life.

Suspenseful til the end!

Another great book by Rebecca Deel. Although not my favorite of hers, this book still kept up the suspense, mystery, and kept me guessing til the end. The romance was a bit under-developed, in my opinion, but still had cute moments between our two main characters, Jake and Lacey. Some parts were pretty intense (I may or may not have had to turn on my lamp at night while reading, lol) but overall a great book still!

A definite must read!!

Obsession by Rebecca Deel is a fantastic addition to the Fortress Security series. Plenty of suspense, romance between a willfully strong woman and a hunky hero. Along with the rest of Fortescue Security which are an assortment of totally hot, hunky friends and cohorts. Keeps you going till Jake and Lacey finally figure out who is the bad guy.

Obsessions was another fantastic book

I loved the action of her books and that the storyline does not center around sex. This one was one of her best though I would have a hard time figuring out which was my favorite. I also like how she ties in the cha from her other books. I look forward to her next book as I have read all the others in the set.

Moonstruck medic

Jake, favorite medic at Fortress Security, has had his eye on Lacey for months waiting to make his move. When Lacey returns home to search for her missing mom, Jake accompanies her. While there they face nosy neighbors, vicious gossip and a faceless killer with Lacey in his sights. Their HEA depends on catching a killer before he gets ahold of Lacey.

I laughed, screamed, wrung my hands

Lacey- funny, tad snarky, smart, courageous, and wonderfully complex. Jake - great to see him try to save and win his lady despite the very dangerous situation she finds herself in. Love the interactions between them. Maybe one of the top three books in the series.

Great characters

Fortress Security should exist. I like the fact that the author doesn't spend 30% of the pages describing sex scenes. Technical advice would help the author... no cell phone works for 3 days without charging
