From USA Today Best Selling Author Raymond L. Weil comes the third and final book in the Originator Wars series. The Eternals continue with their plans to conquer Originator space. Huge warfleets are sent to isolate the Dyson Spheres and force the Originators to surrender. Massive space battles erupt across Eternal and Originator space as Fleet Admiral Jeremy Strong commits his forces to push the Eternals back. Across the Dyson Spheres, the search continues for sleeping Originators who can be awoken from stasis to aid in the expanding war. The Eternals are convinced they are the most intelligent and powerful race in the universe and should rule. All that stands in their way are the few surviving Originators and Fleet Admiral Jeremy Strong. The battles grow bigger and become more desperate as the Eternals commit more and more ships to the conflict. Finally, in a hidden Originator stasis facility, a secret is found that just might be able to stop the Eternals. Can Fleet Admiral Jeremy Strong bring the war to an end or is it destined to last for eternity?
I live in Clinton Oklahoma with my wife of 40 years and our cat. I attended college at SWOSU in Weatherford Oklahoma, majoring in Math with minors in Creative Writing and History.
My hobbies include watching soccer, reading, camping, and of course writing. I coached youth soccer for twelve years before moving on and becoming a high school soccer coach for thirteen more. I also enjoy playing with my five grandchildren. I have a very vivid imagination, which sometimes worries my friends. They never know what I am going to say or what I am going to do.
I am an avid reader and have a science fiction / fantasy collection of over two thousand paperbacks. The space program has always fascinated me and I've followed it since its inception. When I was a teenager, I wanted to be an astronaut. Now, I just write about it.
In a way this book concludes the trilogy that started with Universe in Danger. However, in a way, it is also just the end of the beginning. As the title clearly hints this is not the end of the war between the humans and the Originators versus the Eternals. This is a war of galactic proportions and on a galactic time scale the events so far, in this trilogy, has been a mere blink of an eye.
I could make it easy for me when writing this review and just refer to the previous book, Search for the Lost and my review of that one since much of what I said in that review is valid for this one as well. The fleet battles are frequent and well written. Our heroes are around and kicking Eternal arse. The story itself is fairly straightforward even though there are some complications from Zorn and his conspirators.
I really find it difficult to say much more about this book, at least not without starting to spoil things. It is a very good and solid piece of military science fiction adventure. Mr. Weil has created a universe with great potential for future adventures of all kinds and I certainly would expect to see more books coming.
Another great military Science Fiction story from Raymond Weil. Massive fleets, massive battles and an epic battle between the Eternals and the Originators involving humans.
I have to say that Raymond L. Weil is consistent in his writing. He continues to write to young adults and is extremely repetitive. I doubt very seriously if aliens or any one group of people have to keep reminding themselves of how superior they are to every one else. In this book, the Eternals constantly have to say, “We are the superior race and should rule the galaxy.” I think that statement comes up in every Eternal conversation and it’s most used in conversations between two or more Eternals!
Then there’s the rehashing of already made decisions. The new exploration starship has been discussed almost in every chapter. Who’s going to command the ship and is Jeremy going to go along on these lengthy exploration trips. Well, it was said that Admiral Barns would command that ship and said so often that she knew about it before Jeremy ever said anything directly to her. They even have to discuss how the ship is going to be outfitted and those discussions always result in something new added somewhere. It’s a wonder they ever get this ship completed.
In this book, the Special Five or actually the Special Four that are married to each other, are starting their families. Yeah, both Jeremy and Kelsey were expecting as was Kevin (who doesn’t even have a last name) and his wife, Katie. Angela had already married Brice, the Marine Officer, and they had a daughter named Clair. Of course everyone was super excited about the emmanent births, especially the AIs, Clarissa and Ariel. These two were going to set up some extensive training programs for the young children so they could grow up just as capable as their famous parents. And it was well known that Grayseth and Marille, both Care Bares, were soon to be wed and would be having cubs of their own. What a bunch of new rug-rats to be running around!
Anyway, there is a war going on. Jeremy is running out of humans to man his starships. We all the automation aboard, he doesn’t need many, but the does need more. He’s hoping he can send a delegation back to Federation territory and request more human, Alton, and Care Bare participation. He’s not sure of his reception and certainly not sure he’ll get much support, but he has to try.
The Externals are still banging away at the Originator fleet bases setup to protect Originator galaxies. Jeremy’s trying to find the resources to upgrade these fleet base defenses, but still he’s running into a personnel problem. The fleet bases are all commanded by Originator AIs, who a pretty adapt at millitary manners, although they apply absolute logic to all their decisions. Humans don’t and that’s why the human control fleets seem to live to fight another day while AI controlled fleets are nearly always lost. Something must be done about this situation.
Then there’s the Shrieels that the Simulins control. They could be an easy target for the Eternals. Jeremy knows he must get some forces to grab these two Dyson Spheres away from the Simulans and prevent their capture by the Eternals. If the Eternals do capture even one Dyson Sphere, it would doom the Originator, Alton and Human civilizations!
Ok, the weird writing is getting to me. I’m not sure if I’ll be reading any more of these books. They just have too much repetitive stuff and really stupid conversations. After reading one of these books, I’m always looking for something a little more adult and thought provoking.
I continue to enjoy the ongoing story just as much now as I did at the beginning. Has it really been 15 books? I hope the author continues to write these engaging, sweeping works. My own thoughts on where the series may go from here: the technological changes in the these books has been breathtaking, almost exhausting. Perhaps that was the point. I think a pause in all that new technology is more than warranted, so I’m happy the Five may go exploring awhile. While they are away though.... the Eternals are relentless. They want those Shrieels. What if they don’t try by force anymore? The Eternals found the weakness before in the Shrieels, that was the Simulin held control centers. What if the Eternals decide the Humans can be the greatest weakness of the Shrieels? They are mighty champions while fighting. Are they champions in peace too? The Humans are still young. Could a few Eternal agents slip in among the Humans and give them ideas? Ideas that threaten their alliance with the Originators and possibly Altons and Carethians too. After all, even the advanced Originators had a dark side in the Defenders of Zorn. The treaty between the Eternals and the Originators only applies to military conflict, not psychological conflict. Thank you for writing this series!
I'm an avid sci fi fan, read many books but I'm afraid I had to stop reading this one after 23%. This story is just not interesting like none at all, everything already has been written in a better way in dozens of other books. I understand that it is a book part of a series but as a stand alone it's really boring
The story didn't get me excited or in fact didn't convey any human emotion through reading... It is so basic that it feels like reading a log of events. There are no emotions in the story, no anger, no worries, no stress, no fear, no love, no excitement, no drama, no emotional interaction, no backstabbing, no character development the list goes on
Story so far is Evil race conquering the universe, Humans team up with other races, get upgraded weapons and go to war. Evil race sets up a trap.
3 stars for the effort
Definitely NOT a 5 star book. Those who gave 5 stars either got paid or this is their 1st book ever.
Review might be too harsh, I always read through everything I pick up but I feel like I could have read a better story with the time I had.
Get a sample before you pay for this, you might like it. , unfortunately I didn't
Before you start this book, please note while this is touted as the third book of the series it is really a new chapter of a continuing thread – you will need to have started at the beginning and read them all the way through or this one won’t make much sense to you: I would start with Moon Wreck: First Contact (Moon Wreck series Book 1) and read each of them in order.
This installment continues where the previous book ended, but the action scenes are starting to repeat themselves. However, as usual with other books in the series the author has a writing style that makes you have a hard time putting it down. While the author’s end notes makes it appear this is the end of this series, there is the possibility of offshoots to the various books – without having a spoiler, there are a lot of open-ended situations that need a conclusion./
I picked this up for $3.99 and I certainly received more than $3.99 worth of entertainment value out of this one. If you enjoyed the other books of the series I imagine you will like this installment, also.
To say that I am extremely disappointed in the writing ability, creativity, and direction for the series presented by the author in this book is putting it mildly. The ending was unsatisfying, cheesy, and simply illogical. With the development of the weapon to stun the eternals, there could have been ways to continue fighting the war and winning. For example recreating the hyperspace lockout stations around their galaxies, but with nanite disablers instead. I really love this series up until the very end of this book. All of the characters began acting out of their personality and in a way which does not make sense for any personality. I wish that I hadn’t wasted my time reading all the books in this long series only to get to an end which was a copout and was not in anyway cathartic.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Poor Jeremy, it turns out that are a lot more Originators than a couple of hundred, and Jeremy has manpower problem, not enough men to man the fleets of ships being built and needed to fight the war with the Eternal!
Seems like Jeremy has become a "Jack Of All Trades", Family Man,Clan Brother, Leader of the "Special Five" and the supreme leader ( Fleet Admiral/Commander ) of all Originator Fleets and operations. The Originator Council should come up with some kind of time for his position.
Lots of battles with new and improved weapons, searches for hidden caches of sleeping Originators before the Eternals or an agent of a terrorist group of fanatics can discover them.
I AM AN AVID SPACE OPERA FAN, I HAVE LOVED THE SERIES, FOLLOWED THE CHARACTER'S PROGRESS AND FELT ALL THE EMOTIONS. THIS LAST EPISODE WAS GOOD BUT NOT AS GREAT AS MOST OF THE OTHERS, BUT DON'T LET THAT PREVENT YOU FROM READING THIS SERIES, IT IS VERY GOOD! MOST OF HIS BOOKS ARE 5s IN MY OPINION, WHATEVER MY OPINION IS WORTH. I AGREE, AND WISH THE SERIES WAS NOT OVER, BE ABLE TO FOLLOW THE CHILDREN AND THEIR ADVENTURES BUT, IF HE WISHES, ALL THINGS MUST COME TO AN END. I AM A CHARCTER BASED READER, EVEN WHEN IT COMES TO A1s AND NEED TO BECOME INVOLVED WITH PERSONALITIES. RAYMOND WEIL HAS GIVEN ME THAT IN MOST CASES, SO I LOVE TO READ HIS BOOKS.
I'm another fan who not only asks but But demands (LOL) that you absolutely must continue the series! From the very first book to this last, for the last six weeks I have read nothing but your 15 books! My only concern is what you are doing or planning to do to finish the Eternal wars? I'm going to read a book about the very first female serial killer of men before I start reading Earth Strike, the next of your series that I will read...Once again, I love your work Ray. Keep it up!
While the books engage as part of a very well thought out universe, the sheer volume of olayers in this storyline makes me feel like I am drinking information from a firehose. While interested in the plot line I can always look it up on Wikipedia vs having to slog through page after page of thousands of ships clashing again and again and again.... it may just be that I am used to books with smaller spheres of influence, so if you are like me then I suggest you take a pass...
The entire fifteen-book series was well written, engaging, fast paced without skimping on character development, and did a good job organizing multiple story lines. None of the side plots were boring or irrelevant and I never felt the need to skim through anything. This is a great example of military sci-fi with large spaceship battles and a massive scope. The best part is that it leaves plenty of room for additional novels and spin-off series.
I don’t know if i can stay without a follow up story !
I am awe stunned by the quality of this story. one of my favorite ever and i read over 250 books in sci-fi. This epic universe is just fantastic and unbelievably rich. I want more, how am i going to do without Jeremy strong and the special five to fill my reads ! Thank you Mr Weil, please go for the the exploration extensions!
This was a solid series and this last book was enjoyable. The universe Mr. Weil has created has incredible potential for a whole range of interesting spinoffs including, of course, the “exploration “ spinoff”but also many others. The Dylan spheres offer a huge opportunity for many themes beyond just more battles and I’d certainly be interested to read them!
I have generally enjoyed Raymonds books and this series, but as soon as I started this one and knew it was the last of the series, my first thought was 'There is a lot to do still seeing as how the bad dudes control 10000 galaxies, how are they going to finish it in one book?'. Simple! War war war war - 10 pages left - hey let's sign a non aggression pact! Wam bam thank you maam, end of story. Hence my 1 star review, thought that was pretty bad.
The name of this book should be "Sadness Unending", but only because such a good series is possibly ending. I hope Mr. Weil continues with the originator series. The future explorations of the New Horizon has many possibilities and could resolve many of the storylines that need finishing. Thank you once more for a good story and I look forward to many more.
In the final book of this series we see the famous five fight more battles. But with help from the Federation Fleet Admiral Strong has fought the Eternals to a stand off. The Five are now having their own families, and I am hoping that the author will be publishing more on their adventures next year.
I greatly enjoyed this book, in fact I enjoyed the entire series which is 15 bucks. If you like Marines artificial intelligence, space battles, and science fiction with aliens you will enjoy this book and series. Do as I did, start from the beginning of the series you will not be disappointed. I also wish this series to continue.
I have read and enjoyed all the books in the Lost Fleet series. The special five are an interesting set of characters. The second generation is alive. The externals make a formidable opponent. I enjoy the technology used. Dark matter has so many possibilities. Even a master Race has its own divisions.
Mr. Well presents another excellent entry in the Saga of mankind's struggles and fight for freedom across the universe. From the beginning at the moon base into the future alliances the series is gripping. This book is everything one would expect from Well as his story telling skills grow with each book he writes.
This was one of Raymond Well best. The action in the book was intense and character development satisfying. It is my hope he writes the Exploration series to the up loose ends and show the New Horizon dread naught at it's best.
Sir, I like your line of thinking for continuing the series. With just enough to transition into exploration and a dramatic end to The current storyline and what an end. Have a great Christmas
Another exciting book that you can not stop reading. Non stop action from beginning to end. Great characters and very believable combat engagements. Greatly enjoyed this book. Will read the future books of this author.
Raymond Weil just keeps churning out awesome tales in this centuries -long saga of human expansion in the universe. A "must read" series for all who love space opera. Sure hope Ray will keep this series alive for years to come.
Raymond Weil continues to excellent in his story telling. The ending was unexpected and kept interest throughout the book. Please continue the story of the special 5 and their exploits in exploration
Enjoyable read and another good book to this saga. The author has left a lot of room for this and offset books to add onto the story. Hopefully there will be a number of more books as the universe that was created still has a lot of room to expand.
An excellent ending to a well written series. Hopefully the author will continue to write about this universe. Maybe a series on the explorations of the New Horizon, the Fantastic Five and their children.
As always I read the book from cover to cover without many breaks. The characters are continuing to move forward, and the next generation is in full swing. I can’t wait to see what the new exploration ship will find
This is a very fast paced book with action from the start. It is another great book in the Originators wars series. I do hope Raymond extends the series with other stories regarding what is happening in the federation as well as with the exploration.
