Tell me which girl doesn't dream about a fairytale ending in her life- that impossibly handsome prince sweeping you off on your feet! Even after growing up, you still cherish that dream, but keep it aside because we become so wise. Well I also did kept the thought aside and moved on, but I never stopped myself from reading one and losing into it.
Firstly, a huge thanks to the author, Jennifer Faye, for sending me a review copy of her to-be released book, A Princess by Christmas, in return for an honest review.
Well, to be honest, I know many people do not like this kind of cheesy love-stories, but since I read Jennifer Faye's previous book, titled, The Return of the Rebel, I turned into a complete fan of her, and started rooting for reading more of her books. Maybe because I love way too cheesy and emotional love-stories, which takes me into an unreal world filled with promises and trust and LOVE-unlimited! Who doesn't need a break and for me- a good romantic book is a total getaway! No matter whomever the publisher is! I have never learnt to judge a book by its publisher or author!
Sorry for drifting away! Jennifer Faye is a lovely author and has the ability and talent to create a surreal world which she makes it so believable with her use of simple words and vividness. I really respect her and her books and her beautiful and compelling romantic stories, which are really a retreat for me after a long day. A Princess by Christmas is a charming and mushy love-story about a prince and an ordinary, simple yet beautiful young girl. Yeah sounds like fairytale! I know, but this is strictly for grown-up girls and ladies who loves to fancy themselves on the shoes of that simple yet beautiful girl and wants to be swept away by a dreamy and a charming prince of an exotic land.
No play and only hard work seems to be the mantra of the no-nonsense young business woman named Resse, who happens to be the owner of a small inn left in a debt by her father. Alex happened to fatefully stand on the doorstep of her very inn when Alex had to come up to New York to save his kingdom from false rumors of his brother's deeds. What happens next is really quite easy to guess! Sparks fly instantly and both try to hide their feelings till the very end and feelings and emotions become an endangered species for them, when Resse is thrown into the hot tub of jealously and trust.
Anybody who enjoys a little bit of corny and mushy-mushy romance stories would love to cherish this book. And yes this is not that type of book which will you grease your brain cells instead it will be bound to bring a smile at the corner of your mouth. As per the pace and flow of narration, the author has done a great job to make it more interesting and quite fascinating. I also loved how the author kept her characters quite realistic and thoughtful for her readers, thus giving an edge to the plot. The chemistry between them is not something bed-burning or passion-firing kind, but it was sweet with a passion and quite blissful. Both the protagonists had some sort of trust issues, Resse especially, Alex was more focused on saving his kingdom from bad mouth. And the whole air of exoticness around Prince Alexandro was quite well developed by the author. All-in-all, a pretty much enjoyable book with a engrossing storyline that any girl would love. So don't miss to be swept away by the enchant-ness of this beautiful love-story!

A PRINCESS BY CHRISTMAS is a lovely romance between a prince and an ordinary girl. Author Jennifer Faye’s latest offering would touch every girl’s heart and make her swoon at Alex. And readers would be glued to the pages to read what ultimately happens to Reese’s love affair with her prince.
Looking for a heart-warming fairy tale love story?! This book is for you! I absolutely loved this book! Reese had to drop out of college to return home after her father dies. Reese and her mother are left in debt and are trying to keep their New York family mansion in business. Their luck begins to change when they over book their rooms and let a very intriguing guest stay in their private quarter of the house. Alex does not let anyone know that he is the Princess of Mirraccino!!! Neither Alex or Reese are looking for love but they both realize that their is something between them! I would definitely recommend adding this book to your list! It is a great love story with just the right amount of Christmas spirit! I give it 5 stars!
I can always count on Faye to deliver a sweet, heart warming romance. She has a knack for creating wonderful down to earth characters that you immediately can't help but fall in love with, her latest novella, falls right into that same category.
I couldn't help but love every single minute of this read as it warmed my heart and put me in the mood for the magic of the holidays.
If you are looking for a light fun holiday romance this is the story for you.
My Christmas romance reading this season is off to a lackluster start. This was competently written and I found the first half interesting, but the second half was tedious and perfunctory. The royal drama was never consistent or believable (even for royal romance drama), and after they left New York, the protagonists didn't get to do anything interesting or anything rooted in their personalities.
Who hasn’t dreamt as a child to meet a charming prince and become a princess? If you’re raising your hand and saying, “me” than maybe this book isn’t for you. If, on the other hand, you’re like me and have grown up watching Disney movies and dreaming of being swept away by a handsome prince just like all the female characters in those movies, you should grab a copy of this book. A Princess By Christmas is a modern fairytale, featuring Reese, an independent American woman struggling to make ends meet and save her family inn from the debts her father left behind when he died, and Alexandro, a handsome Mediterranean prince in disguise who’s travelling to New York to take away the attention of the paparazzi from a scandal looming over his royal family back home. If he becomes the target for the paparazzi, they’ll be too busy to go dig into his twin brother’s (and crown prince) life, so all he needs to do is spread rumours about him having fallen in love with an American girl and they’ll follow him to New York. There’s only one problem: he hasn’t found a fake girlfriend yet – but when he meets Reese, the owner of the inn he’s booked a stay in, his immediate attraction to her throw him a little off kilter. As a member of the royal family, he has duties and expectations – falling in love is not on his agenda. Neither is on Reese’s. As they start to get closer, the attraction gets harder to ignore and when Alex is forced to tell Reese the truth, things become even more complicated. It’s all supposed to be a charade, and Reese doesn’t want to give her heart to Alex, no matter how charming he is but when the line between reality and pretense blurs, can they keep to their initial plan and part ways as soon as the situation has been fixed? This book is a very quick read that I managed to start and finish over a weekend. The Christmas atmosphere gives it that little bit of magic, but it’s okay to read it throughout the year because it’s not your typical Christmas story – especially since Reese ends up spending Christmas day on a Mediterranean isle with palm trees and blue skies. I enjoyed the book, even though I felt there could have been a little more character development, as it seems that both characters changed their beliefs and attitudes almost too quickly. Apart from this, which is only my personal view, I liked the story and I would recommend it to all those readers who enjoy a clean, modern fairytale with no angst or tension. If you like sweet romance, you will like this book. ***I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review***
If you are in the mood for a sweet and quick read you should definitely pick this book up. I read it in a few hours. The book itself was enjoyable. The characters were well thought-out and the story line had a good flow. I wasn’t bored or praying to reach the end. Jennifer Faye create sweet characters that learned sometimes love and the things you want most need to come first.
Reese Harding had to leave school and her dreams behind to take care of her depressed mother when her father unexpectantly died. After all of his secrets come out Reese has sworn off men. None of them can be trusted and now she is doing all she can to keep the inn hers. She is trying to keep all of the bills paid and keep her mom happy now that she has finally come out of the dark place she was in. There hasn’t been a man that has tempted her until one shows up insisting he made a reservation when she doesn’t have room.
Prince Alexandro dropped everything to fly to America so that he can start some rumors about his non-existent love life. He finds his nation in jeopardy when his brother gets involved with a scandal that no one wants to come out. His duty has always come first. There is no room and no good reason to go looking for love. Especially when it can leave you with a broken heart. When he shows up at The Willow the owner might be the first person to put that to the test.
Alex and Reese have to figure out what is most important to them. Can Reese leave her safe world and give her heart to another man and trust that he want leave like the others? Can Alex see that their love affair could be everything he ever needed if he can put Reese before his duty?
A Princess by Christmas will leave it’s readers swooning over Alex and rooting for Reese. This book will show you all of the magic that the holidays can bring and so much more. I highly recommend this book for any and every romance lover.
Very sweet fairy tale type of romance. Reese is struggling to make ends meet at her inn. Several years earlier she'd had to leave school, giving up her dreams of becoming an artist, when her father died. His death brought secrets to light that devastated her mother and made it difficult for Reese to trust another man.
Alex shows up at the inn one night, expecting to be able to stay in the room he had reserved. Unfortunately, there had been a mix-up and there were no rooms available. In order not to lose his deposit, Reese put him up in her room until one became available for him. Alex is in New York to try to head off a scandal involving his older brother and an ill-advised marriage. He is attracted to Reese and finds her infinitely fascinating, but knows there is no chance of a relationship between them. Alex has spent most of his adult life paying very close attention to his duty to his family and country and ignoring anything that would be strictly for himself. He also refuses to allow himself to fall in love, having seen his father's devastation after his mother's death. Alex comes up with the idea of asking Reese to pretend to be his girlfriend in order to draw the paparazzis' attention. He doesn't expect to start to have feelings for her.
Reese liked Alex before she found out who he was. He was attractive, nice and fun to be with. She wasn't so happy when she found out his secret, as she'd had enough experience with deception thanks to her father. When Alex begged for her help in order to protect his brother and his home, she couldn't say no. She knew that there was no chance that their deception could become real, but her heart was harder to convince. When he took her home to his Mediterranean island she was entranced by it. The things they did together as part of the deception were a lot of fun, and she found herself falling deeper for him. Just when she thought there might be a chance for them, things fell apart and she fled for home.
I loved the way that the author used How the Grinch Stole Christmas to show Alex the price of devoting himself solely to duty. He had to learn about the importance of love, and when he did, he did it very well. I loved his "go big" moment, and the epilogue was very sweet.
I loved this book. It was a wonderful fairy tale type romance with Prince Alexandro Castanovo from Marraccino arriving in New York in disguise hoping that nobody would recognize him. He had reservations at The Willows Inn which was run by Reese Harding. Reese had been struggling to keep the inn going and not let any of her employees go when Alex arrived for his reservation. Reese's mother had taken the reservation but not properly so Reese had no record of it even though a huge deposit had been taken. Since they didn't have a room available for him, Reese gave up her bedroom for Alex until a guest room became available. Even though Alex was attracted to Reese he fought it because he had a duty to his family and country which didn't include a romance with a commoner.
I was captivated with this story right from the beginning. I couldn't read it fast enough to find out what happened but I didn't want it to end either. What a problem. It takes place a couple of weeks before Christmas making it a great holiday read but even with that it could be read and enjoyed at any time of the year. Alex's secret was difficult for him to keep but he felt he had no choice but to hide his identity and location, even though he knew he would never be able to explain it to Reese if she found out.
The character development was very well done. I loved that Alex was an all around nice guy and was even a bit unsure of himself at times. I swear Alex is my new book boyfriend. Reese was not as easy to like at first because she was so controlling but once she loosened up and let go of some of her need for control, she was much better to appreciate.
I must say that this did bring tears to my eyes at times - especially the ending. I am so glad I won this book or I might have missed it. If you like romance you will love A Princess By Christmas and I highly recommended it.
I am so happy I was picked to be a reviewer for this amazing book. After I finished this book I got all teary eyed because I was so happy that Alexandro and Reese found true love. I was so happy that Jennifer used How The Grinch Stole Christmas in order to show Alexandro that there is more to life than just worrying about his royal duties. That is my favorite Christmas book. The whole entire plot of this book was just perfect. I loved all the plot twist coming from both different families. It shows that no one is perfect even if you have everything you are looking for. The cover of the book is beautiful and depicts both characters.I loved that I was able to picture being at Marraccino, with that beautiful beach, garden and castle. I love holiday books because it brings family together. You definitely need to pick this book up, you won't be disappointed. Thanks for giving me a chance to be part of your royal romance.
'A Princess by Christmas' is a lovely romantic fairytale, perfect for curling up by a crackling log fire on a winter's afternoon.
Reese is an independent but emotionally vulnerable heroine. Alex is a dashing prince who turns up at Reese's family inn, incognito. A teenage mistake that led to family tragedy rules Alex's adult life, making him live by a duty first maxim.
I loved the traditional qualities of this gentle story, the importance of family, loyalty and helping others. All of these were conveyed within the modern setting of a city based inn and a dreamy Mediterranean kingdom.
The chemistry between Alex and Reese is the smouldering kind. Circumstances and proximity combine and result in steamy passion delivered in a sweetly romantic way, in keeping with the story's fairytale world.
Reese is an easy character to like as she struggles with inherited debt and her mother's emotional collapse. Alex is touched by her plight but also by her tenacity and willingness to put others, including him before her own comfort. She is no sugary, sweet heroine, which makes her refreshingly realistic. She can be controlling and impetuous but given the obstacles she faces, this isn't surprising.
Do Alex and Reese have a fairytale 'happy ever after'? Read this delightful story to find out. It has the perfect 'will she', 'won't she' magical ending guaranteed to keep you reading. You won't be disappointed.
There might have been no room at the inn, but with debts mounting, Reese Harding has no option but to give up her bed when a booking error is made. Shouldering responsibility is what Reese does, especially to protect her mother from the pain of Christmas past, but taking on this new guest could be out of her depth. His generous payment is hard to resist, though even more irresistible is the man himself!
Prince Alexandro Castanovo has to put duty before anything. Hiding his real identity is as difficult as hiding his attraction to Reese. An accidental slip reveals all forcing Alex to turn the situation to his advantage. He’ll do anything to repair the tarnished image of his kingdom. All he has to do is persuade Reese to pretend. Not so difficult when there’s a simmering chemistry between them. But with duty and the scars of betrayal between them, there’s much to overcome. Christmas is revealing a lot about themselves they’d rather have kept hidden and hadn’t dared to recognize. Can either of them let go?
At first I found the pace was slow, but it soon picked up, as did the chemistry between Alex and Reese. The world building in this story is so wonderful, Jennifer Faye puts you right there with Alex and Reese so you will them to their happily-ever-after.
I enjoy a good pauper to Princess story, but even more I adore a Prince dropped into reality one. I loved Alex’s time at the inn. Okay I loved Alex everywhere he was! As soon as I finished this book I was reminded of the The Student Prince, one of my favourite old movies. It was all of this, but a whole lot sweeter and with a bit of Christmas magic too. Put this on your Christmas read list and you won’t be disappointed!
A Princess by Christmas by Jennifer Faye Prince Alexandro Castanovo arrives in snowy New York intent on protecting his royal family from scandal. And when Reese Harding—down-to-earth and heart-stoppingly beautiful—finds room for him at her inn, it seems like the perfect twist of fate.
Not long ago Reese's world came crumbling down, shaking her foundations. But this enigmatic stranger intrigues her! She's learned to be wary of secrets…but when she discovers Alex's true identity,
might there be enough magic in the air to make this regular American girl a princess by Christmas…? how did Alex and Reese meet? The Willows Inn was fill up for a wedding but because of a clerical error his reservation and deposit was accept.Did Alex get a room at The Willows Inn ? What is Alex huge secret? will Alex and Reese be more than friends? who is your favorite character in this story? And why? Will Alex and Reese gather their courage to follow their hearts? Will Reese be a princess by Christmas? A Princess by Christmas by Jennifer Faye is a wonderful well written 5 stars book. I highly recommend reading A Princess by Christmas by Jennifer Faye. I am looking forward to reading more books by Jennifer Faye. The Return of the Rebel by Jennifer Faye Snowbound with the Soldier by Jennifer Faye Safe in the Tycoon's Arms by Jennifer Faye Rancher to the Rescue by Jennifer Faye Million-Dollar Maverick / The Return of the Rebel by Christine Rimmer and Jennifer Faye
Just in time for the cooler weather, I sat down to read the Harlequin romance, A Princess by Christmas by Jennifer Faye. It’s the perfect romantic read to help get you in the holiday spirit. I recommend curling up by the fire with a cup of sometime warm as you read & get swept up into the romance of a Prince named Alex & an ordinary yet extraordinary girl, Reese.
When Prince Alexandro Castanova escapes his tropical kingdom to help his twin brother, the crown prince, he doesn’t expect to find love in the snowy outskirts of New York. In fact, he is so consumed in his duty to his father, the king, that he tries his hardest to push aside his feelings for Reese, the owner of the inn he has rented out. Reese is so focused on keeping the inn going after hers and her mother’s lives are turned upside down, that she wants nothing to do with the attractive guest she has living under her roof. And after having her heart broken by both her father and former fiance, she wants to avoid men like the plague.
A Princess by Christmas is a real life fairytale complete with the ups and downs of any new relationship. The chemistry between Alex and Reese is one that gradually grows and develops into a romance that neither can deny. As any true romantic would enjoy, this story has all the elements to make a perfect holiday romance read.
Besides, who wouldn’t want to fall in love with a prince? :)
Clean Contemporary Christmas themed New York city romance with Prince Alexandro Castanovo and Inn-keeper Reese Harding. Alex is trying to take away the scandal from his twin brother's sudden elopement (aren't all elope weddings by definition unexpectedly sudden?). So he runs off to New York to hide out and pretend to find a girlfriend, but that is exactly what happens when he stays in a random charming bed-and-breakfast. Reese has her reasons for staying single, but it doesn't seem realistic when a smoking hot sexy rich guy wants some time with your bikini area (and you happen to be single and have tons of chemistry with the fellow) for you to reject the guy without at least getting some kisses! Reese does have a heart so she does melt with the stand offish commitment-phobe Alex so we get a cute HEA once she decides to go along with his fake-fiance shenanigans. Who wouldn't want an all expenses paid free vacation in Europe?! Cute quick little cozy read which is perfect for the winter holiday season with no pushy religious agenda. 152 pages and Mass market paperback format which I received for free as a First Reads Prerelease winner from our beloved Goodreads site. 3 stars
Read a sample on IBooks after finding out about the new title from the author herself and was hooked.
At first, took me a while to start getting into the story, I guess it must be because I am so tired and if I were tired, it is not a good idea to start a new book.
And just like that, I was hooked after I started all over from the beginning for the second time.
Lovely story between Reese and Alex, Alex try to gain Reese's trust after she lost her trust in love especially after her father abandoned her mother and herself for another woman and then Reese was betrayed by the man she loves, no wonder she was wary about Alex.
Always love the story about a prince falling for a commoner and the story of how a royal wants to live a normal life like regular people with so many hurdles in life to get thru things, just like the real life fairy tale of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Jennifer Faye is an author to watch, love already few of her books indeed and will look forward to her future titles indeed!
The fairy tale romance between a prince and commoner is beautifully written with wonderful and warm characters who don’t fail to make a mark and to top it off, it is set in the holiday season. Alexandro was an awesome hero who took duty seriously and cared a lot about his family. Reese is someone who has gone through a lot in the past and it has changed her perspective towards life in many ways. At first she appears controlling and defensive but deep down she is afraid of history repeating itself. I admired and loved her for the way she took care of her mother and learned to live through whatever life threw at her. She was caring, sweet and totally down to earth and I was really happy when she got her HEA in the end. The romance is filled with emotions and is guaranteed to leave to with warm mushy feelings in the end. There is no angst or conflicts in the story and the romance is overall a light and fun read. When there is no room at the inn what are you to do but give up your room..
Reese gives up her own bed when an error in booking occurs. But who gets her room none other than a Prince.
Alexandro is hiding in plain sight. No one knows who he is and that suits him fine. His attraction to Reese is making it hard to keep his identity a secret.
When Reese is asked to pretend to be his girl, can she do it and not get attached? Or will it blow up in their faces when they fall for each other? Can they really be together?
I absolutely loved this book. It was a heartwarming story of a woman named Reese who lives in New York and has been through her share of heartache. A prince, trying to make things better for his family, goes to New York and meets Reese. They both go through the trials and tribulations of life and do some serious soul searching along the way. I highly recommend this book!
Wow, this book is a gotta read by Christmas. Jennifer again writes with such passion and this book is so hot, Reese an innkeeper has an unusual guest that will rock her world. It is something we all dream about when we are kids but here it happens and what a better time than Christmas. Ms. Fays' books just are ones that you start and you just can't put down.
This is a beautiful holiday story with a great storyline. The characters are well detailed and have good interactions. Alex and Reese have an instant attraction but he has a huge secret! When it comes to light, can she do what he asks? I enjoyed this well written love story with its fairytale ending.
I was fortunate in that I received a review copy of the book in exchange for my honest opinion. I really enjoyed this charming holiday read. It was fast paced, interesting and ended just the way I like them too. This was the first book that I recall reading by this author and I will be reading more of her work.
"Faye’s whimsical romance will tug at the heart-strings of bookworms across the globe. Reese and Alex are perfect together, and witnessing their budding love is a pleasure" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).
Jennifer Faye just keeps writing heart warming, mysteriously intriguing romances that pulls you into the pages and never lets go even after the last sentence is finished. Awesome love story.
Sweet holiday-themed read, A Princess by Christmas is the ultimate in wish fulfillment. I would like my own prince, as well as a sun-drenched island nation, by Christmas!
