Once I received this book I found myself looking forward to it daily, and now use it as part of my journey. I now have an awesome study guide, and am learning “Why Am I Here”, and I am learning going through the thirteen chapters, and understanding the Assignment. Each chapter allows me to reflect, and then offers further study in m bible.
I received this book through Dr. Devon’s Street Team, and was not required to give a positive review.
Self Help is something I didn't think I needed. Yes I have depression but I have to get through it on my own..Right!?! Once I started reading this book, it became clear that I really do need help and this was the book to do it. It doesn't matter whether you are highly religious or not at all, this book will help you as well. The words are so brilliantly written that it left me, informed, interested, and ready to hand it all over to him. Honestly, everyone can find some help from this book, even when they don't expect to. I very much enjoyed it.
This book makes a really good small group study. Blanton is a Pastor so you would think this would be a sermon in book form it's not. Blanton would make a wonderful teacher. This book is laid out in such a way that you learn from it. Full of Meat he gives you something to chew on. Give this book a go and share it with those you love.
I really liked this book and how the author wrote it. He made it easy for us to read and understand. I feel that this book can be used for a study guide in any Sunday school or Sabbath school if a pastor wishes. I also love the cover too!! I think that all of us has asked the age old question "Why am I here?" I know I have many times and when I'm down I still ask this question. I did get a lot of my questions answered through this book. I will use this book for my daily needs. I received this book for free. All opinions are my own
I think that each of us has asked the age old questions of why am I here, what is my purpose in life and why does God allow us to suffer? Pastor Blanton uses scripture along with logic to answer these questions that has satisfied my curiosity. This book is filled with little gold nuggets that are priceless in our walk with God. It has opened my eyes to how God wants us to fulfill the assignment that He has given each of us. He doesn't need us, He simply chooses to include us in what He does! After reading this book I find myself wanting to read more from this author.
I have heard so many people in life talk about finding themselves and I think did you think your lost? Well, I think what most people are searching for is what is their purpose in life, not really searching for themselves. We all look for a reason for anything that happens whether is be a positive or a negative. In this book the author discusses not only the meaning of life, but also the purpose of life or our journey through life. The book is divided into 13 chapters which are about 4 to 5 pages in length. At the end of each chapter Key Words are reviewed and defined as used in the chapter. The next area is Workbook Activities which includes several questions that the reader can answer. Each one is designed for the reader to dig deep within themselves and find answers or thoughts abut the chapter. This is a well written book that is easy to comprehend. The author uses both scripture and logic in his explanations. The layout of the book is perfect for a small group study or even an individual. I would recommend it to anyone looking for answers as to why we are here. Even though this book is small it is filled with a vast amount of knowledge that would benefit anyone in their journey of life. *I received this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
"The Assignment" by Devon Blanton is a non-fiction book about finding your purpose in life. This book is a very easy read. It is divided into 13 chapters and after each chapter are a set of questions. I haven't answered the questions yet because I was reading the book for the review but I can say this book is going to be my Next Journaling book.
Dr. Blanton states that each day is an assignment on the journey called life. He states that a prompting from the Holy Spirit to smile at someone or to hold the door open for someone or even to sweep a floor, etc are all assignments to the real purpose we are here and that is to build up the Kingdom of God, because it is all about Him and not us.
I was given a complimentary copy by the author. These opinions are my own.
Blanton is a new author to me. I had actually never heard of him until a Facebook friend asked for people to review some of his books. I like what I have read so far.
The Assignment is not a long book. It has 13 chapters, coming in at 5-6 pages each. Following each chapter is a page covering key word studies in context. That is followed by a couple pages of workbook questions, making this book a study type of book.
The overall theme of the book is a search for significance. The author covers that subject very well, and in an easy to read way that makes for an interesting read. I found the questions at the end of each chapter very thought provoking, and quite in depth.
For anyone wondering what your life is all about and for, this is a great book to read and study.
The Assignment attempts to give answers to the great question that most people ask today: What am I here? What is my Purpose on this Earth? Through this study guide book, you will gain perspective on these thoughts and find reason for your existence.
The book is small enough that it can be carried along with your Bible or in your purse if you wish. There are 13 chapters. Each are short but packed with thought and information supporting Dr. Devon's Biblical insight, as well as directing you to scripture.
This book is a must read for anyone looking for answers about their personal purpose here on Earth.
First time i have read anything by Dr, Devon Blanton. I found it to be very inspirational. The Assignment is a great inspirational Bible Study. Devon gives biblical answers to things we go through life. I found it very refreshing. I think even a baby Christian can learn from it easily. It isn't written over the head. Which to me is a plus. I feel it could help things you struggle with in your everyday walk. i think once you read or even as you read you will more inspired. Wonderful Study guide.
I have read non fiction books rather sporadically throughout the years and I don’t really know why because I find some of the work to be uplifting. The Assignment is definitely uplifting and is one that I will read many times.
