Laughably silly; Sheila is a cardboard cut-out of an addict. She has a husband in jail, a child she abuses, a hardcore addiction to drugs (heroin in her case), and does sex work to pay her bills even though she’s consistently horrified by all aspects of sex work. Naturally, because author John Benton is a Christian Minister, the power of Christ saves her soul, but not before she loses her child and goes to jail because she’s a sinner who must repent. He even writes in self-insert characters for himself and his wife!!! This book is actually so insane. It literally just exists to sell the Walter Hoving Home, which he founded with his wife. Overall, just total Christian self-aggrandizing jerk-off material.

Re-read - first read in high school or junior high. Good book. Wonder what happened to Amy?
