Burn For Me is a 45,000 word story with an HEA, explicit sexual situations, and no cliffhangers.
In addition to the people in her life that indulge her crazy - Aja Cole loves men that smell phenomenal, food that tastes amazing, and something that college makes it hard to do called sleep. She loves feedback and hearing from readers, as her goal is to become better with every release.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
Burn for Me is Aja Cole's third and final installment in the Banks sisters trilogy. And if I had to pick a song to describe the book it would be "Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis. Not just because Michaela (Mickey) Banks is a dead ringer for the talented artist, but because the lyrics tie in well with the angst of this story.
I would caution the reader to read book one and two (Ache for Me & Yearn for Me) prior to reading this book to fully grasp the family dynamics in this book and to understand the motivations the heroine has in the beginning of the book. And while we are speaking of titles, I understand the theme the author is going for but I never got the vibe that these two were burning for Mickey and that she was burning for her two men. Conflicted, sure but not necessarily burning for them if I'm understanding the reasoning behind the title correctly. Yes, you read that correctly. The main heroine has two love interests and in the end they form a fully functioning triad (hooray for HEA!). So please skip this installment if it is not your cup of tea.
Mickey Banks is basically the wild child out of all the Banks sisters. In this book, Mickey attempts to give up her wild child ways after the-one-that-got-away tells her that she is not marriage material let alone relationship material and decides to marry another. One night stand later, she decides to curb her rebellious streak and focus on her expanding lingerie business. Hawk James has been smitten with Mickey since she ran away like a thief in the night after a spectacular one night stand several months ago. Hawk seems to think that it is serendipitous when he is called on as consultant for Bold Lingerie, Mickey's company. Mickey denies her attraction to Hawk and runs because the feeling she has towards him in unlike any she has felt before. Mickey runs into the arms of Liam, a semi-retired football quarterback known for his many Superbowl rings and his conquests in the bedroom. These two kindred spirits find time to shy away from going with the flow and develop true feelings for one another while Hawk comes to grips with wanting a less than conventional relationship given his Southern/Conservative upbringing.
I won't bog down this review with any more specifics but I will say that I was very pleased that Mickey didn't have to choose and she found a happy medium with her men. I will say that there were typos, but I'm assuming they have been rectified since I received this as an ARC. The pacing and time jumps in this story were a bit jarring. It was hard to keep up with how long the triad had been together and how they managed to make a relationship like that work. I enjoyed the realistic sex scenes but I wish more time was spent on how the secondary characters would deal with Mickey's love life considering that Mickey's father is the Mayor. It just seemed like it was the norm for that family, especially since the triad wasn't discreet about their relationship and openly flaunted it. I understand this takes place in New York but Mickey is the daughter of a mayor and Liam is a famous football player. I would have loved to have seen a scene where she introduced her family to the two men in her life and not just one. This author seems to like to end on HFN and not a HEA when it comes to her books, which surprised me considering this was the final installment of the trilogy, although it did wrap up what happened to the other Banks sisters wonderfully.
All in all, this is a great read, an interesting take on MFM romance that I hadn't read before and a solid ending to the Banks sisters trilogy. I would definitely recommend this book (with caution due to the MFM scenario) and the other two. Can't wait to read what this author has in store next.
Well, I've been looking forward to this book because Michaela was my favorite Banks sister, for more than obvious reasons. And in this Mickey gets to have her cake and eat it too. But for me the cake didn't taste all that sweet. I honestly liked Hawk more than I liked Liam. I really felt like I just couldn't be bothered with him, he was somewhat depressing. Tension was thick and interesting when she was stuck between the two, but went down hill when she wanted to have them both. She felt like she would be missing out on one or the other if she chose just one. And now I see why Brandon no longer wanted to be with her. Who wants to feel like they wouldn't be enough for their partner who lives like they're waiting for the next best thing. And once the decision was made the book just hit a platue. There was no dating, or relationship progression, just sex.... 3.5 stars for me.
The 3rd installment of the Banks Sisters trilogy is off the charts and hot! I really enjoyed the dynamics between all of them as couples and as their triad. I love how fearless Mickey seems most of the time but she can put herself out there with both Liam and Hawk. Both Mickey and Liam have their own issues to deal with but they gather comfort from each other and Hawk steps in as well. In the beginning, there was jealousy mostly on Hawk's part but in the end they band together and become great friends. I love how the family just accepts what is going on between the 3 of them and makes it a part of the family. I would love for there to be more on this family because they are so fun and so bonded with each other.
I really wish that this series would go on longer, maybe with friends or friends of friends so we can watch all the families grow together and see their futures pan out. I loved this book and you will too if you take a chance to read it. I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I didn't see that one one coming for sure... Wow, ok... Normally, I am not a fan of,... I don't want to spoil it, but it's hard not to fall in love with the characters. It's different from Aja's usuals , still a great read..
I said, I wasn't going to spoil it, hey sorry... Lol. Here is a great scene: "“Give us everything. Come all over his face so I can fuck you while your mouth is full of his cock.” Liam’s deep command puts a visual in my head that sends me right over the edge with a loud cry, and my hands fly to Hawk’s hair, holding him to me as he holds my restless legs apart. I ride out the orgasm against his handsome face, sagging into Liam’s body as he continues to stroke my breasts," ...
Not believable that this is going to be a MFM relationship. The men H A T E each other. Why the hell would they agree to sharing a woman????? Also the author really needs to do a better job of reintroducing characters and their backstory. For instance who the hell is Jasmine?? Even if she was mentioned in book 1, the author should always provide a quick reminder as to who these characters are. I have no idea who jasmine is. How Hawk and Liam both know Wes and Tara well enough to be in the wedding but have never met or heard of each other is beyond me. I was really looking forward to Mickey’s story too. Such a disappointment.
I mean.. Wow The last Banks sister story, Mickey, woo- this girl, talk about some torment! A highly anticipated read for me, it most certainly did not disappoint, in fact, it exceeded my expectations! This storyline is a harmoniously written mash-up of unconventional love, emotional highs, and lows, forgiveness, and tantalizing passion. Creating an unputdownable book that I will not soon forget! I highly suggest checking out Mickey, Hawk and Liam's wild, beautiful, eye-opening heart-aching journey!
This story was different but good. This is my first time reading a story with this theme, and it was surprisingly good. I actually didn't pay attention to the full title until the end. This story showed that every relationship is different, and you do what makes you happy. You have to be bold to live your life your way and by your standards. I loved the way Michaela's family supported her and loved her for who she was. I enjoyed getting to know Liam and Hawk.
All I have to say is I'm very impressed! Actually I have more to say...my expectations were not really high on this book as in most series the author gets lazy. Definitely not the case here. Mickey was a tough one to pin down and I wasn't sure how it would go.It was great to see that Mickey wasn't toned down and stayed true to form. She didn't comprise who she was for the sake of love and her men (Hawk & Liam) accepted and loved her to bits.
Out of the 3 books, I don't know which one is my favorite. They all have their own elements and story.
I laughed a lot with Harlan and Kaija’s book because they were two nuts that were made for each other. And then I read Keyra and Dane’s book and was like “Wow”. And reading Mickey’s story was a no brainer. Love how the family and the extended families became one. Love the chemistry between Mickey, Liam and Hawk. Love how they came together....literally most times. Hoping that Ms. Cole gives us the other guys stories as well. And I already love football, but the first two books in this series makes me want to try going to a hockey game.
I have to say that I’ve been waiting for this to be finished!! The story telling is on point and flows brilliantly!! I have laugh out loud causing my family to question my sanity, I have cried and got damn I had to pause and change my damn panties!!!🙈🙈 this is truly an amazing piece of work and I can’t wait for her next project!!!!! This is my first MFM book and I think I just found my next genre😘😘
A hot and sexy menage! Good storyline that is well written and flows smoothly. Mickey, Liam and Hawk are all wonderful characters with great chemistry. It's a very steamy read where the characters really have to band together to make their relationship work. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I was given an advanced copy and am voluntarily leaving my review. I'm not one to give spoilers but I will say this I will burn. I've read Aja Cole's books before and as usual I couldn't put the book down. So with that being said this book is AWESOME AND MUST READ AND ONE-CLICK NOW.
Love the previous two books on the Bank sisters but if you are adventurous, you may love this book. Loved the guys and Mickey but couldn’t get with that lifestyle.
It was hard for Mickey to choose between a stable, conservative Hawk and an unconventional, sexy Liam but her two men decided to choose for her and they all decided it was best to do their own thing.
Well.... Damn! This was the first MFM book I’ve read and it was HOT🔥! I think this was a perfect ending for Mickey. Also, a great conclusion for The Bank Sisters Series.
I enjoyed reading this book so much! I couldn't put my kindle down! I enjoyed the storyline and the chemistry between Mickey, Hawk, and Liam! Fantastic book!
