"The fantasy novel that reads like a manga."

Vani Mikudai is anything but a normal teenage girl. A terrible power sleeps inside her, and though she tries to hide it, others can sense the dark energy. Before she can figure out what lies within, the ones who feel her power begin plotting to kill her.

When a mysterious book fully awakens her powers, she is transformed into a tsukatta, a monster she thought only existed in fairytales. Unable to control the spirit that resides in her body, Vani kills the first man to confront her.

Vani must either flee or embrace her newfound powers. But the book did more damage than she first realized, and when the danger escalates, she is forced to find a way to tame the beast inside her. Should she fail, the ones who hunt her will take away not only her life, but her brother’s as well.

“A fourteen-year-old girl who has become enchanted by a storybook’s princess tale discovers her own supernatural powers. Along the way, she must save her brother and friends from some deliciously evil characters in this sweeping saga of villains and victors in a story rife with courage, valor, and friendship.” Angela M., Line Editor, Red Adept Editing

I received this book on NetGalley for an honest review.

I had high hopes for this book from reading the blurb. The story line sounded good and kind of original, it tempted me and pulled me in. Unfortunately the whole book did not live up to this expectation. Amongst all the spelling errors and grammatical mistakes that flooded the book (I gave up highlighting these by chapter 5) is what appears to be a rush and very confusing story. I had to keep going back to see if I had missed something.

The characters seem a little underdeveloped and there just seemed too much happening far too quickly. The plot is good, no doubt about that, it could have been an amazing book, but there were too many let downs. I have never said this when reviewing a book, but I would recommend avoiding this book. Maybe there is someone out there who can make sense of it all, unfortunately I couldn't and did not enjoy the 7ish hours that it took me to read.

Normally I always try to finish books, especially ones I'm reviewing, but this book was so bad I couldn't bear to. The train wreck that is Princess Tails starts with Vani Mikudai, a teenage girl who is anything but normal with an unknown power resting inside her. When a book she gets for her birthday awakens her power, she learns that she is a tsukatta, a deadly beast that is part animal, and she is out of control with the spirit inside her. As danger escalates, Vani must find a way to tame the beast and control her newfound abilities, or get herself and her brother killed. The description to this book is great, but that's where it ends. Maybe it was the type of copy I got, but there were many grammatical errors that made reading a challenge. Also, the writing level was poor and the plot cliché. Would not recommend this book.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

While this book has a good story idea, the execution and editing needs to be thoroughly gone back over before this will be a pleasurable read. I had to keep coming back to the book because I would become frustrated with the simplest of grammatical errors that should have been prevented by a good editor. If the author is in need of resources, I will be happy to provide them so this book and future ones get the attention they deserve.

Princess Tails is about Vani who tries to hide her dark powers from people, but some can sense it. When she gets a present for her birthday a beast is awakened in her, a literal beast by the way and it’s name is Sukasa. Sukasa is a tsukatta, a beast that she thought only existed in stories and the story is about the struggles that Vani must face with Sukasa.

I feel like the premise of this story would have worked so well if it was implemented in the right way. However this was not the case the plot was very confusing and the writing good have been better.

I received a copy of Princess Tails by S.L. Haldi from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was intrigued by the summary and really wanted to like this novel, but the storyline could have been pulled together better and the characters developed better.
